Hi all, Just back from a great trip at OKW. More details later... just got back.

But for those interested about the slide, I did try to get some info.

The slide is supposed to be started in October, and be completed by the end of December. OKW guests during that time will not be able to use the OKW pool, but will be able to use Saratoga Spring's...

I asked how would one get from OKW to SS, and was told that a bigger boat would be running from OKW to SS to Downtown Disney, and the return from DD would be SS to OKW (ie the reverse).

I saw pictures of what is supposed to look like... Kinda like a big White Sandcastle, continueing on the theme in the sand play lot area, and asked where it was to be located.

I thought it was going to be by the Dolphins (looked kinda unused and empty there) but was told no, that the slide would be between the baby pool and the Main Pool.

The slide wrapped circular around the outside, and reminded me of Vero Beaches, but in White, although I'm not sure it's going to be as big as Vero's... The one picture I saw looked like a little more umphhhh than Wilderness, but nothing like the Y&B Clubs...

Hope this helps,
Goldi

Thanks for the update. We will be down at OKW in 3 days and I will see if I can get any more info.

Interesting that they said OKW guests would be able to use SSR pool but did NOT mention the ability to also use the other DVC resort pools, with the exception of BCV, of course. I wonder if this could possibly mean that when SSR opens pool hopping will cease? And the reason OKW guests can use only SSR's pool is because it will be the closest resort to for OKW guests to use while their main pool enhancement is being completed???

Great information, thank you for sharing. I like the design details, I was wondering if it would be similar to Vero Beach's slide. My experience with the Vero slide is that it doesn't have a huge amount of noise associated with it. The difference between when it is busy and not busy is not very noticible, and the view from the top of the slide is wonderful. Sounds like a real winner in the design category. Great information, thank you for sharing!!

And the reason OKW guests can use only SSR's pool is because it will be the closest resort to for OKW guests to use ...

Please note that the original poster did not say that OKW guests will only be able to use SSR's pool, just that they can. It's been said here before that SSR's pool is supposed to be off limits for pool hopping. Although I don't know for sure that this will be true, it makes sense that DVC would allow OKW guests to use the SSR pool while "their's" is out of service. It's the closest one. Rember too that if the construction does indeed begin in October that plans could change before then. I'm betting most folks won't notice the few OKW people that hop over to SSR. My family will be at SSR (our home resort) in mid December and we'll be happy to make room. :D

Good detective work, Goldilocks. It sounds interesting. I'm curious about the pictures you saw. Where were they? On display or something the CM shared with you? I would hope that DVC will share the plans with all the OKW members (and all other DVC members, too) very soon. The timing is what I suspected they would shoot for in terms of construction.

Yes, didn't BWV owners use the SAB pool while ther pool was being worked on with permission despite no pool hopping at SAB during other times? I guess you can't really read too much into it until there are official announcements regarding pool hopping.

I am looking forward to trying out the new slide. Thanks for the report.

I think a slide will be a great enhancement to the OKW main pool. I can't wait to see & enjoy it! :bounce:

We were recently (late Jan. / 1st week in Feb) at OKW, & when we walked through the Boardwalk to walk to Disney Studios, there was a sign posting that the pools at the Boardwalk were for visitors staying at that site only. So pool hopping is not allowed even in the "off season".

I was thinking that the Vero slide would be a good design for OKW, and it looks like that is what they decided too. I will be SO GLAD when this whole issue is over! Looks like it will be almost completed when we are there in December but a mess when we are there in October. We don't use the main pool, but in Octover we will have a group of 12, and I am sure the kids will want to swim.

I think all the pools have signs posted which say the same thing. I think at the BWV it is to deter other guests that come from MGM or EPCOT & think they can enjoy the pool for a few hours & then go back to the parks.

If you call first & are told as a DVC member you can enjoy the pool for the day you shouldn't have a problem if you are asked and show your DVC membership.

However, if you are asked for ID & don't have a resort or DVC card you would be asked to leave.

The Turtle Pond pool is really very nice with a nice snack bar, hot tub & shuffle board. We really enjoyed it on our last trip in Nov. & are hoping to get that area again in April. :D

Yes, I agree - good detective work!

Nick, yes - please do try to do a little more prying......

Thanks so much for the detailed update. We'll be at OKW during the construction period so looks like the SSR pool for us that stay.

Yes, thanks for the information. Here's hoping DVC officially says something to all its members about this soon. I agree with PamOKW, it would be nice to hear something from them about this design and time frame etc. It does sound nice, though.:D :bounce:

I haven't found a picture yet of the described location, but here's a picture of the castle sand area if you are unfamiliar with that.
