When we ck'd in to our hotel, we had booked the cheapest room possible. When we arrived at HRP, the lady at the desk asked if we wanted to upgrade to a tower room for $20 more a night. I asked her if we could upgrade for any cheaper and after walking into another room and coming back out, she said that they could upgrade us to a tower room for $10 a night, so we took them up on that offer. We were on the 12th floor overlooking the swimming pool. The view was fine, but I have heard that a view of Pleasure Island is nice. I have no complaints about the room or the service we rec'd while there.
Getting to and from the airport....we used the car service called ********.com. Our driver was Thom and he was wonderful. Very friendly, his driving didn't scare me, plus he was even about 15 minutes early picking us up to go back to the airport. If you go to
www.********.com you can print out a coupon for $5 off your total bill. I would definately book with him again. I would not take the Mears transportation due to the fact that you are not the only family they are transporting at one time, and the price for ******** was the same as Mears.
Shuttle buses at the hotel were kind of a pain. It wastes about 2 hours of your day waiting for the bus, going to the parks, etc. After getting on the bus, if we were lucky to get a seat, we would stop at 3 or 4 hotels after us. Bus drivers were friendly, but after staying at the poly on my honeymoon, we are spoiled by the monorail being right outside your door. My hubby and I decided that next time we go back, we are booking at the poly. This trip, our room was $79 a night, with the fourth night free. Money wise, it was a great deal. The fact is, when it's hot, your tired, you're traveling with a 6 year old, it is very nice to leave a park and be back to your hotel within minutes. Every time we left a park, it was 45 minutes to 1 hour before we got back to our hotel.
By the way, we booked our room through Mousesavers. It took about 7 minutes to walk to downtown disney.
