Just back from HIFS (last week) - Loved it!

We stayed 4 nights at the HIFS (the 5th to the 9th) for the 1st time and loved it!! For anyone worrying about the cleanliness, pool, etc. - DON'T!! We had no problems at all. Our room was spotless, everything worked great and housekeeping was prompt everyday. Check in was easy (they did ask for my Entertainment card) and they honored my pizza party coupon and said the person would receive credit for it. We were there around noon and they had a room ready for us. I had asked for jungle theme room since my kids love animals but they didn't have any of those available, but they did have Disney theme ready suprisingly so that is what I chose. It was a good location (can't remember our # though, seems like it started with an 8?), ground level, facing the pool and not a long walk to the lobby. The only problem was that being at ground level, and being a light sleeper, I was occassionally awoken by people walking by our room outside. There wasn't anyone at the Kid's check-in, but we did receive a coupon for a free bucket of popcorn and 2 bottles of Coke for being a Priority Club member. We were also told that local calls would be free (but they erroneouslycharged us $0.75) and that we could have a late (2:00) check-out if we wanted one for being members.

The breakfast buffet was better than I expected, but like others have mentioned, not gourmet or anything. It was fine for us and my kids thought it was great to pick out exactly what they wanted. I will mention that it is important to get there early if you want to avoid the rush. This wasn't a problem for us since we're early risers, but for someone who doesn't get up before 8:00 it might be. We also ate at the Club Car buffet for lunch on the day we arrived and it was OK being fast & reasonable (the kids ate free since it was before 5:00) but I wasn't in a hurry to return with so many other choices nearby. We grabbed cheeseburgers and onion rings from A&W one night and those were really good (hot & fresh) and we also used our pizza party coupon at Pizza Hut one night and it was plenty for the 4 of us. (I have coupons if anyone would like one, just PM or email me!)

My kids (ages 8 and 6) LOVED having their own room! They thought the bunk beds were awesome and they rented Nintendo games a couple times. My DH and I really liked having some privacy too and having the fridge and microwave was great. We moved to the Royal Pacific after our 4 nights there and while we loved the resort and thought everything was beautiful, we did miss having the extra space. The kids like HIFS much better, of course and wished we had stayed there.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!:D

Did you ever use the HIFS bus service to the Parks?

No, sorry we didn't use the bus service. We rented a car through Priceline and used that.

Thanks for all the info! Do kids not eat free all the time? You mentioned they ate free before 5pm. All I could find on the website was "kids 12 and under eat free, lunch and dinner too". Is that at the other restaurants and not the Club Car?

I just love getting all the inside scoop before I go...it makes the trip go much more smoothly!

kidshop - Sorry, my post was kind of confusing! Actually, I think kids eat free at the Club Car restaurant all the time, I think it's only at the foodcourt (A&W, Pizza Hut) where they are only free before 5:00. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. I don't have the brochure they gave me at check in to double check.

Hi nicolep91,
I'm glad that you had a good time. Are your pizza coupons good for 2004 as well? If they don't expire before June, I'd like to get one. Let me know and I'll PM you my info.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Actually they say they are only good until the end of the year. I suppose I should have mentioned that!

Your trip will be here before you know it! :D

Kids eat free at A&W and Pizza Hut before 5:00.

After 5:00 they eat free in the Club Car Restaurant.

"Kids eat free at A&W and Pizza Hut before 5:00.

Does this work as it usually does at most places by one free kid per paying adult, or do they eat free regardless of how many adults are in the party? I will have my 5 kids by myself until dh meets us halfway through, that is why I am wondering. I won't help me that much if I can only get one of their meals free.

that they allowed like 2-3 meals per adult??... I can't remember from last year but I do know that DH went down alone, came back with like 4 personal pizza's & only paid for one...

We were told in August that up to 4 kids could eat free for one paying adult.

nicolep91 - thanks. That's what I thought.
