Hi! We're just back from the Hershey RV show, and I'm so excited to say I'll be back on this forum again!!!:cool1: My husband and I just bought a Shasta Revere yesterday! We're so excited to be back! :) Since my husband has never camped, we'll have lots of questions!

Welcome back. I hope your family has years of camping fun in your new camper. :thumbsup2

Which floorplan did you get? I wasn't familiar with the brand so I just checked out their website. They all look great! If you tell me you got one of those awesome outside kitchens, I will probably swoon with jealousy!

By the way the first two things I always tell new campers are:

1> No, you cannot just leave the black tank open to the sewer. You don't want to have to live through the resulting disaster it will cause. Also, remember to add some water to the tank after you dump it. This prevents settling.

2> Buy a container of indoor/outdoor season long bug spray and keep it with your camping supplies. When you get to your site, spray everything that touches the ground and then touches your camper including tires, electric wires, hoses, etc.

Congrats on the new trailer!

We went to the RV show in Raleigh last weekend and traded in our 5yr old trailer and upgraded to the Keystone Premier by Bullet (31BHPR). We brought it home on Friday, and camped in our backyard this weekend. It is HUGE!!! We have 3 kids, 12, 11 and 7 and 4 dogs, and we all fit in comfortably.

And yes, it even has an outdoor kitchen with TV! :cool1:

We feel spoiled now with an electric awning and power tongue jack too!

We are planning a nice long trip to the Fort next April...and we can't wait!!!

VERY NICE!! You will have a wonderful time at the Fort with that set-up.

What AuntBj said in regards to the black water tank is 100% on the spot. Its good to have some "flow" when dumping the tank. A little water in the tank after she's dumped goes a long way at keeping it from having issues down the road. One of my first jobs was as a ramp rat (baggage handler) for Delta and ive dumped many a lav (fun job...) and its always nice to have a good amount of volume to flush everything down.

Only things I have to add is look up the gross weight for your vehicle. There are hundreds of posts around the RV world about this (and varying arguements!) but the general idea is not overdo the tow vehicle! On top of that we always stocked up on some good quality poncho's for our trips to disney and they never left our camper (but to dry of course). We always had them when we got to the fort and needed to set up and its raining. A few good planks for leveling and stability are a must as well.

I am jealous! We are shopping for an RV and wanted to go to Hershey this weekend, but we had a Baptism to go to so we couldn't make it. We are going to the one at Six Flags Great Adventure this weekend.

Enjoy your new trailer, hopefully we will get into an RV and start planning our first trip to Ft Wilderness soon!!!!

We also just purchased a camper. We have a Keystone Outback with a king bed slide in the back. Outdoor kitchen as well, as we like to cook outside (especially bacon) while camping.

We are headed to Ft. Wilderness in December for our first trip. We are planning on winterizing in NH and setting up when we get to Disney.

We also can use any advice!

We were at Hershey on Saturday. Got there just after they opened and left around 1pm. We couldn't believe the line of cars trying to get in. We had originally planned on purchasing a new motorhome but we got a deal we couldn't pass up on Mother's Day weekend so this was a fun trip not a research trip.

Thanks for all of your kind words of support and congratulations for our new purchase! We bought a 26 foot Shasta Revere with the triple bunk layout. I had never liked the triple bunk set up until I saw this one...They were spacious enough for my 15 year old son to sit up in the mid bunk...And the camper sleeps 9--great for us, with 4 kids! Already planning our next trip to the Fort!:cool1: The Hershey Show was insane on Saturday...Luckily we drove down Fri night, and had a little time before Saturday to see things!
