Just back from Hershey Park! review..

It's a bit futher than a couple of miles away! I'd give yourself 45 mins at least...Dutch Wonderland and it is geared to smaller children. There is also Harrisburg ..... the capital...but there isn't much to look at there. Stay in Hershey for a day or so than you can head to Lancaster!

I'd have to vote to stay in Hershey then head to Lancaster too. If it's outlets your looking for though, you might want to consider heading on up to Reading too.

As for Hershey, there is a lot to do there if you're not into thrill rides (but it is mainly a thrill park). They have shows that you can watch too. I realize this is The Dis, but my kids like Hershey Park better than they do Disney World. I say this as I quickly grab my protective Armor shield!

We were at Hershey in April. Our heating oil company rented the park & sold tickets for less than 1/2 price. Our family enjoyed it & is ready to return. We too took the path to the right & practically walked onto the rides. (Of course, the park was NOT crowded.) There seems to be a high concentratin of rides over there. If we go next year we will probably reverse our loop to do the other half of the park while we are still fresh. It was cool to revisit the park since it was the 1st amusement park I went to as a child & again on my 8th grade trip. I took the boys on what was my favorite thrill ride - don't recall the name but it was the old log flume ride. They were less than impressed - kids today


Nearby: Lancaster is home to PA Dutch Country. Gettysburg National Battlefield is about an hour away (probably less).

Hey momof2boys- our oil company did that too- I think it was April 18th and the tickets were only $16. What a deal. I couldn't go because of an unexpected emergency but DH took the kids and my Dad went along and they all had a great time. I love Hershey Park- that was where we always went as kids and brings back such great memories.

The reason for the right not being so crowded is that they are the "older" rides. The rides I use to wait in line for! (went to HS not far from hersey)...the comet, super dooper looper (it only has one loop...always seemed like there should be 2!)... The rides to the left are the "newer" thrill and water rides. A word to the wise though...if you plan on doing the rides to the left...follow the masses and go there first otherwise if you get there in the afternoon the lines are way toooooo long!

Yep, CheapMom we were there 4/18. It was perfect weather. We had a wonderful time. My boys were not tall enough for the Big Bear coaster but everything else was a go. They had a blast. They were disappointed that the Storm Runner wasn't open then but they ran the empty cars all day just to tease us. It is now & heavily advertised. (They wouldn't have been tall enough.) I hope the oil company does it again next year. That $16/pp is hard to beat.
