What a great trip we had at WDW with staying at the GF. When we arrived at the hotel around 11 p.m. with a child who had thrown up throughout the entire flight down, we were utterly exhausted. Imagine how our spirits were lifted when we entered our room in Boca Chica and found an absolutely magical view of the entire Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, and the Polynesian. We felt like royalty. We were so close to the lake that we could literally talk to people on the boats as they passed and wish them a merry Christmas.
We had plenty of room to spread out with 3 children, and we put up a 4 foot Christmas tree as well. Turn-down service is definitely still part of the resort. They also offer coffee every morning in each building's lobby from 6 - 830 a.m. in to-go cups that were great to grab along the way to the parks. The coffee was served in silver urns - quite elegant. I would not have realized the tree was new and smaller if I had not read it here, and I like the decorations better with the large sprays of blue hydrangeas rather than the large mirrors. I did think it was a bit funny that the little bird houses looked a bit like outhouses! We love the access to the MK with the monorail. We are devoted fans of the WL and AKL, but the monorail and short boat ride are great with little children. Our youngest fell asleep several times, and it was so helpful to not have to fold up our stroller and carry him to get onto a bus.
We had an AP rate, so I felt everything with the cost was fine. However, when I did think about the rack rate for our room (just under $5,000 for a week - yikes!), I would have liked to have seen the room cleaned earlier in the day. Often it wasn't until the later afternoon that it was cleaned, and I think the toiletries aren't that great. Yes, the packaging is fitting, but that is the extent of it. If I had paid $5,000 I'd like quality products.
We left tips for housekeeping and turn-down service. I think turn-down was surprised by the tips, and several times we received note thanking us.
Please let me know if I can answer any questions.
