Nothing like leaving near record temps in Florida to come home to SNOW.... ::::: sigh ::::::

Not sure where to start... Oh I know... The trip down from WDW should have taken less than 2 hours, but do to 'user error' we arrived in 3 1/2 hours.... (user error was my DH, who sucks as a map reader/instruction follower) But now that I know the lay of the land, it will be a peice of cake getting to Vero next time.

Check in went smoothly.

Our two bedroom lockoff was made up of units 1236 and 1237. Top floor facing south. I suppose the main view would be considered parking lot...

but a simple turn of the head provided a lovely view of a beach house and the ocean... quite nice.

But I must admit it was very noisy. In fact we found Vero to be the noisest resort we have stayed at.... between the landscapers who started at 8 am everyday... with the leaf blowers, hedge clippers and other such things..... then being off the main parking lot, all the car doors shutting, alarms being set, loud... and I mean LOUD car engines at all hours of the day and night..... peaceful is the last word I would use... but Such is life... no biggy... just something we noticed. Oh and the surf... that was one constant noise we loved.... although at night it scared the girls on our nightly walk....

The underground parking was a bit of a challenge for me in our Dodge Grand Caravan, but I didnt hit a single post, wall or vehicle! WOO HOO! :bounce:

We were a bit disapointed that there were not more programs for our kids to participate in... most things were geared for 6-10.... and our girls are 4 and 3. Some days there was only one or two things that they could do... chalk art, craft, water balloon toss, fish find. But we did enjoy what we could do!

We couldnt do the UnBirthday party either... since the cut off was 4, and they wouldnt budge to allow my 3 yo to come too, and told me that there was a Unbirthday party for younger kids on the schedule, but there wasnt one that week (or the week before) so we were SOL. I tried my best to sway them to no avail. My 3yo is potty trained, goes to preschool, follows directions, and can keep up with older kids.. I mean that is her life... lol, but they still said no. Oh well. I tried without getting ugly, ya know....

Good thing I didnt tell the kids about it... but the bad thing was all the staff kepted asking the girls if they were going to the big UnBirthday party... Arent you going to the big Party??? At every craft thing/group event, every single staff member talked the big Unbirthday party bash up... SUCKED. Big time... but such is life...

Beach was great, pool was great, mini golf was great, Seafood buffet was great, in room dining was great, weather was great!

Both DH and I thought there was less Magic here than at the other DVC resorts (HHI included) and a lot of liitle things like having to walk by either smelly garbage(via the stair route) or humming airconditioners (on both sides of the stroller freindly walkway) to exit our building wasnt very nice.... but over all we liked Vero.. we will go back, when the kids are older....

This was the last of the standing DVC resorts we hadnt tried... Cant wait to check out SSR!

Thanks for posting. :D

I wish that you would have had a better view. Sorry.

Have you thought about giving the main inn building a try next time. I can't imagine going to VB and not staying in the inn-unless I was staying in a beach cottage.:teeth:

Yes, there are more activities for the over 4 crowd but it sounds lke you still had a lot of fun. I know our kids loved it at 3 and 4 ut we don't do a lot of the activities sometimes.

Glad to hear you liked the seafood buffet!!

What did you think of the CM's?

We didnt mind the view.... really... more the noise level. I have no problem turning my head to see the ocean. ::yes::

Over all the CM's were good. The guy at the gate was esp great, and one of the gals (forget her name) running some of the kid programs was also outstanding, but most were ok... and a couple quite frankly sucked and I am not sure why they are working with children... I guess they are better with the older kids. One gal told me her life story (not rated G either) in front of my kids, and attempts to get her to stop were ignored. We just finished up our project and scurried away. I did mention it to a supervisor...

My number one pet peeve was all the CM's trumping up the Un Birthday party..... which we were not attending.

But again, these are all minor issues.... and we are looking forward to another trip there, but when the kids are older.

Nick... I was the driver... and followed DH's directions, which he took off of two maps AND the written directions provided by DVC and he still got it all messed up. Silly man.

Hey Laura. We saw you and your family around the pool. My son was even playing in the water balloon toss which you had pictures from! (I think the women and her daughter next to you husband were water balloon tossing ringers....at least they won the round I was able to watch!) :)

We were also in the same building (1226/27)....sorry for making all that noise (j/k) ;)

My 5 year old clearly got a whole bunch more out of the resort than did my 2 1/2 year old. Once they turn 4, the activities are more appropriate (although my 2 1/2 year old couldn't get enough of playing on the beach!) :)

Our side of the building was much quieter (or maybe my boys are so loud I didn't notice)...might want to consider that as a request next time.

I was waiting for this report. I am not sure how it snuck past me.
Anyway, thanx for the well balanced, in depth report.
I am glad to see that you enjoyed Vero overall!

Last year DH and I had a 1 bedroom on the north side, top floor of building 12. Loved having the ocean on our right, but it was noisy - in our case we thought it was mostly from the road (A1A?). Previous year we were in building 14 and didn't notice the road noise. The resort really is pretty close to the road. It was only an issue when we were on the balcony and, for us, the ocean more than made up for it. Glad you enjoyed your trip -- great pics!!

Thanks for the great report and awesome pics! We will be going to VB for the first time in April for one night only. Can't wait!
