We stayed at DTD Courtyard by Marriott Jan. 18-Jan. 25. We got a good rate ($59/night) and thought the hotel was definately worth it. I think that up to about $75/night at this hotel would be a fair rate.

Does anybody have any questions? Don't ask too many about the pool - saw it, but never used it (we were there during the cold snap).

Oh I'm so glad to see your post. I just joined these boards. DH and I are planning to take the kids to Disney in May and we can get a great deal on the Courtyard but I was worried about the location.

How is the transportation? Can you easily walk to Downtown Disney and use Disney's transportation? Is the hotel bus better/worse?

This is going to be our first visit to WDW so I'm just trying to figure everything out before we tell the kids we really are going.

We are going to the Courtyard in April. I'd like to know how long it took you to get to the MK in the morning. How long to get to MGM too. Does the bus start early for the early entry days? You do get early entry and e-night here don't you?

Also, was it loud being so near the interstate?

Did you have to wait long to get on a bus at park closing time?

Any specific room number or location to ask for or avoid?

Thanks so mush for your help.

How is the transportation?

I didn't have any problems with the transportation. I've used both Disney transportation, and the Downtown Disney Resort busses, and found the Downtown Disney to be more efficient. They don't run as often, BUT, they're there when they say they'll be there, so you can plan on when to catch one. I had to wait for up to 20 minutes for Disney busses.

Can you easily walk to Downtown Disney and use Disney's transportation?

It is a very easy walk to Downtown Disney. Especially now that they've installed crosswalks. Yes, you can catch Disney transportation, but there is no service to the parks out of Downtown Disney. (I think) I believe it's all resort only service.

Is the hotel bus better/worse?

See above.

I'd like to know how long it took you to get to the MK in the morning.

I would say it took about 10-15 minutes to get to the TTC. The busses do NOT run direct to the magic Kingdom gates. You have to use the monorail to get there. Never had any kind of problems though.

Does the bus start early for the early entry days? You do get early entry and e-night here don't you?

I believe so. None of these were offered the last time I stayed there, so you'd have to check on your own. I'm almost positive that E-Night tickets are available at the Disney store in the lobby, but I really can't speak with any certainty about the early entrance.

Also, was it loud being so near the interstate?

I was near the interstate for one night, and no it wasn't a problem. The only reason we requested to be moved was so we could see the fireworks at night. :)

Did you have to wait long to get on a bus at park closing time?

Nope. But I also went during slow season. But, while the Disney busses were ridiculously crowded, the Downtown Disney busses were just fine. If you're truly concerned about it, hop the bus to Downtown Disney Marketplace, and walk back.

Any specific room number or location to ask for or avoid?

Request a tower room. They aren't any more expensive, but if you end up in the rear wing, it's a LONG walk back to your room.

Greetings from the UK.
I am bringing the family over to Disney in May.
Was the good rate mentioned from a normal referral site, or was it priceline. I can't gamble on priceline as I need a guaranteed room with 2 beds, but would love to stay at this hotel for this rate.

Thanks
Regards
Duncan

That's a great rate! Which site did you get the rate from? How close is the hotel to DTD? I've stayed at the Wyndham and its practically across the street ... but its a little on the expensive side  so I'm looking at alternatives...

If the Wyndham were on the other side of Hotel Plaza Boulevard, the Courtyard would be right behind it. Make sense? What it boils down to is that no, the Courtyard isn't a whole lot further than the Wyndham from Downtown Disney.
