I just got home from my trip to Disney a couple of hours ago. Had a great time, although it rained heavily several days while we were there. I'll be posting a full trip report on the trip report boards soon.

Anyways, I picked up a few tidbits along the way that I thought everyone might be interested in. If any of this information has already made it to the boards, please excuse the repetition--I'm posting without having read the boards in over a week. Here goes:

A Segway scooter tour is now in development at Epcot. They are planning a tour of the World Showcawse on Segways that will include training in how to use a Segway. They are developing a storyline to go with the tour.

In October of 2004, the Haunted Mansion in Disney World will feature the characters from the Nightmare Before Christmas for a few months, like they currently do at Disneyland. They originally were planning to do it this year, but are putting it off a year because of the Haunted Mansion movie--they wanted at least one Haunted Mansion ride to remain the same, even though the movie is based on the one at Disneyland.

The renovations at the Port Orleans French Quarter are moving along well. They are finishing 10-15 rooms a day, and the renovations should be complete in mid-December. However they will be holding off opening the resort until the rooms are needed--most likely during Spring Break time (this decision is due in part to the fact that the Pop Century resort is opening at the same time the rooms will be renovated). There was talk about opening some of the buildings around the pool sooner, but that is being put on hold.

Pop Century is going to cater primarily to the groups of atheletes competing at the Wide World of Sports. The resort was made mostly to add a value resort that was very close to the sports complex.

That's all for now.

My DH will flip out if he ever gets to go on a SEGWAY...

How crowded did you find it? The reports seem so conflicting...

I thought it was very crowded. I'm used to going in the off season, so I'm used to short lines, and empty walkways. Sometimes looking at all of the people walking around was overwhelming. The lines were long--at one point the wait for the Haunted Mansion was 65 minutes! We also ran into the problem that they had the posted wait times incorrect--it would say 25 minutes, and we'd wind up waiting double that! It happened a half dozen times!

I know Banzai would do the Segway tour.

I can't wait for your trip report.

TLinden16 (Karen) - I haven't even read the thread yet, but I had to tell you that I LOVE your tag!!!! :p (Look at mine!)

I'll go read the thread now!

Now I have read it!

The Segway tour sounds like FUN!

How did you find all of this out?

Thanks for the info!

Ok Ive got to sak ..."whats a segway?"

A Segway is a scooter that goes up to 12 and 1/2 miles per hour. It moves based on your center of gravity. If you move forward, it goes forward, etc. If you go to Amazon.com, you can read all about them.

Karen - we were in the same boat as you thinking it was crowded - and we also had the time reports happen = they didn't seem to be keeping them accurate at all - we were getting very frustrated but again, we know now that we are happier going in the fall :)

take care!

Hi all! Just back too. We thought it was pretty crowded also. We were hoping for a smaller crowd but that wasn't the case. And the rain sure didn't help. We did find that doing the non-early entry park really worked tho. We did MK yesterday (Sat) and it was terrific. We were in the park about 8:45 and found it to be very pleasant. Very magical for a last morning in WDW.
Hey, Karen!!! Can't believe you actually posted before hitting the bed last night. You're a better woman than I!!!!!! Great meeting you.

Are you sure it's supposed to be on the Disneyland version?? When I saw the trailer the house from the outside looked exactly like the WDW one with the greenhouse & all - the one in Disneyland looks like a mansion from New Orleans with white columns - nothing like what the trailer showed - as a matter of fact I was so happy it was the exact looking one from WDW rather than Disneyland - has it been written somewhere for sure??

I think the Segway tour sounds like great too. I found out about that one from the tour guide on the Undiscovered Future World tour I took. I hope that one really happens. I'm guessing it's going to be an expensive tour, though, because of the liablity and the cost of the scooters.

I found about the other stuff from various cast members during the trip. Our tour guide on the Keys to the Kingdom tour told us about the Haunted Mansion. I can't wait for that one :)

The tour guide on the Keys to the Kingdom tour told us that the movie is based on the Disneyland Haunted Mansion. I can't remember what it looked like in the trailers, so I can't say if she was right or wrong, so I'm just going by what she said.

They are developing a storyline to go with the tour.
How about the story that already exists; it is called the "truth." You know, invented by Dean Camen, tested by Disney and the Postal system, etc. I do not think a storyline is necessary for every thing and please oh please don't say, "That's what Disney is known for."

We got very frustrated with the lines at time. I knew it would be crowded, but with the wait times being so far off, it was very annoying.

It wasn't my choice to go in August. I was travelling with my sister and her family. She is a teacher, and she has two school age kids, so we had to go when my sister and the kids were on vacation. I definitely prefer October, November, December, and May.

As soon as I got home, I fired up the computer to check e-mail and the Dis. Now, I have to start working on my trip report.

It was great meeting you as well. It's always fun chatting with other Disney fans.

The new Epcot tour sounds like fun. I know DH will want to do it. He thinkgs they are really cool!

I'm excited about the Haunted Mansion make over. I've seen the one at Disneyland and it is so fun! I rode it twice since I didn't know when I'd be back to see it again. We're planning a trip for Oct. 04 so maybe we'll get to see it. The make over at DL was from Oct to sometimes in Dec I think. It is really cleaver! And I'll be going back to DL next Nov as well so maybe I'll get to do both of them in one year!!

Oh BTW, forgot to mention that we just returned from seeing "Pirates" (it was fun!) and in the trailer for the Haunted Mansion movie, the mansion does look like the one at WDW. It is going to be a good movie also. (Remember, I'm not much of a movie critic!!)

OOOOHHHHH!!!

I can't wait for the Nightmare before Christmas!!!!

We love that movie! I love Tim Burton...

We were planning on going to WDW in Oct 2004. Hopefully we still will be able to. Would love to see "Jack"
