Just back from CSR ( won't be returning )

Who owns CSR? I didn't know any of the hotels currently there were owned by other companies (I know about the ones to come).

The Swan and Dolphin resorts are not Disney owned. They are Starwood properties.

As far as I know CSR is Disney owned, but their food and beverage operations are outsourced.

We did CSR a few years ago and we would NEVER go back there.

I posted before, but a few CSR "fans" shout you down and blast your posts if you are not 100% about their favorite resort..

Our main problem was with the convention folks. We had actual problems at the resort pool. We had convention guys drunk and hitting on my wife and a few other women at the pool. We had to get the lifeguard to help when the guys were getting that bad

Then we had the 10% to the dinining. Also there is not disney feel with the suits, cell phones and the "hello my name is" nametags on everyone.

Also we found that staff to be rude and treat non convention folks as 2nd class citizens.

Now we stayed at about 6 other disney resorts. From Deluxe to Values and never had these problems.

So avoid the CSR at all costs is our motto.

Good to see others spreading the word

Sorry to get your hopes up but there are more POSITIVE threads about CSR than negative!!:sad2: :sad2:

I'm sorry that you didn't like your stay at CSR, but I have had convention attendees in suits around me at many resorts, including all of the other moderates, the Swan/Dolphin and even DVC properties.

And I myself have stayed at almost every Disney resort at some time while working and have left my room in a suit, carrying my laptop. My apologies if that is somehow offensive to some of you. I really don't see how leaving my room in the morning and walking to my car in a suit, carrying my laptop, can impact someone else's vacation.

and for those who keep mentioning cel phones - I can assure you that I have seen MANY inconsiderate leisure travellers on cel phones or worse Nextel phones at WDW. Rudeness is not isolated to business travellers, as some of you seem to indicate in your posts.

I enjoy diversity, including a diverse population of guests at my resort, whatever it may be....

YAY :cheer2: :cheer2: BAVARIA :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hopefully the only suit we'll see Dec 19-26th will be red and white and the guy wearing it will be driving a sleigh :santa:

I would not stay at the Swan or Dolphin either due to the large number of convetion folks.

Completely understand that not all resorts click with all folks. We had a horrible experience at CSR due to the convention people and the also found the staff very unfriendly vs other disney resorts.

There is nothing wrong with telling people that. Just like there is nothing wrong with a few CSR fans that hit every post and spam their websites about the resort.

The only issue is when posters here take it as some major personal insult when CSR is not put on a pedestal and they have to spend half the day "defending" their resort..

Cheeseburger and fries = $9.75 :scared1:

Just a side note, I understand 10% doesn't sound like alot, but when you factor in the prices are already higher to begin with, plus tax, your at almost $12 for a cheeseburger with fries, and thats only one meal out of your day.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Actually sounds pretty in line with vacation venues. Went to Ocean City, MD this summer and the chesseburger fries combos were around $9.00-10.00 bucks. I won't even start in on what it cost to eat if you go to a Phillies game at the stadium.

:surfweb: Wow, I sorry you had a bad experience there:confused3 We stayed there in the summer of 06 and had a wonderful time. I guess there is less convention business in the summer as the resort is full of regular vacationers so exept walking back to the room at night and at the pepper market you wouldn't have noticed them. (they had signs up near their balcony, some sort of midwest shriners or something). We were on the dining plan and absolutley loved the Pepper market, we had a couple of lunches there and 1 dinner, thought the food choices were great, but didnt have to look at the price and the dinner was a C/S,I had steak, very nice and saved a T/S meal for a character breakfast!
 The evening we went the pool, the pool was virtually empty, just a half dozen families and this was in July.

Over all we absolutely loved it and :woohoo: would return there next year if we are able to go, im sorry you didnt like it

Wow, I'm sorry to hear you hit such rude people at your resort! That would put me off, too, if I had experienced it. I can see why you'd have a motto like that...for yourselves. But as you can see, many people have had good experiences, too. I think it's very fair for people to post both the good and the bad of all aspects of a Disney vacation, and if people are slamming you for posting your negative experience, well, shame on them.

But just because some had a good experience, and want to balance out any negativity with some positives, doesn't mean we're trying to shout you down. You'll find that there are people with favorite resorts, and they will usually pop up if they see that there's a discussion about that resort. You'll see that with EVERY resort, not just CSR. That's why these are "discussion" boards. Please try not to take it too personally.

Knox has a really nice patio outside his igloo, I've heard... ;)

Oh sure.. yuk it up. Come on up in mid-May and see if you want to eat out side in 52 degree (F) weather. I don't.

;)

Also - for what it's worth and this IS nitpicking - but the burger and fries served at the Pepper Market are very different from the standard CS burger and fries you get at other WDW CS locations. Still not worth 9$ to me, but then I guess that's part of why I ate poolside... That and the eating outside thing. :rolleyes1

Pictures are posted by Buzz in the other CS thread on this board ...

My DS10 felt the same way about the burgers at PM. For our upcoming trip, he can't wait to have a burger a CSR and the filet at Le Cellier. Guess he's one of the few 10 (now 11)year olds worth paying the adult DDP for. ;)

Sure wish we had a patio for our igloo,... lucky!

buffalogirl, lustergirl, UrsulasShadow and bavaria, don't waste your time reasoning. He's just here to :stir:. Didn't even know the answer to a simple CSR question. You have to stay at a resort to bash it.

Knox, I agree, the burgers from other food courts aren't even in the same league.

CSR is the perfect get-a-way for all families.

Nobody is stirring anything. People are giving viewpoints. Try to not take it so personal when people do not agree with you.

I stayed at POR this past June. It used to my fav moderate resort in the 90's but now CSR has taken it's place.

I'd say my favorite MOD is POR, but I haven't tried POFQ yet. That is going to be my stay next year. CBR is nice, but felt a little too spread out and just didn't give me that "WOW" feeling. It didn't seem as clean as I am used too with Disney resorts either. I would stay there again though. POR has very nice grounds, a nice main pool and what I think is the best eatery on WDW property as far as food choices and atmosphere. It also has a boat to DTD which is a nice option to get away from the buses for an evening. The river is also nice if you want to rent a boat or sea raycer, cause theres actually somewhere to go, unlike CSR which is just an enclosed circle.

We stayed at CSR recently. I thought that the resort had wonderful scenery, quite rooms at night and a fabulous pool area.

However, I did think it was a little weird that we were sat eating our lunch in crocs and shorts and conventioners were sat in suits. It didn't quite gel. I would therefore recommend avoiding Pepper Market at Lunch time.

I found Maya Grill to be one of the best and quietest of all the restuarants in disney, with good food and excellent service.

I really liked the resort, but would not go back, as I never do the same resort twice! I like each holiday to be a little different.

( we had 14 nights at CSR - us Brits like to 'do it large'!)
