Ah, spoken like a person who has never been to a convention. ;)

Seriously, some convention-goers are there to attend the meetings and other scheduled events. Others are there to get away from the spouse and kids and party hardy. Some (like me) bring the family along for the trip and they got to play while I attended meetings.

:rotfl: And then there are those that do the minimum requirements for meetings/classes and then party hearty ASAP. DH and the a number of the guys he works with fall into that category.

::cop: ::cop: ::cop: + :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1+party: = :crazy: :crazy2: :sick: :scared: :coffee:

I could care less about those conventions, but if he ever gets one down that way (as if) I'm so there.

At least the guests who are there for conventions would be a lot more mature since they would be adults.

As has been proven time and time again, being over the age of 21 does not make one automatically well behaved.

CRS has the best bus service as well. All those convention people do not go to the parks so you always have a seat and do not feel packed in like sardines when you go somewhere.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

As someone who has stayed at WDW many times for business reasons, I actually question the assumption some are making that business travellers are not as well behaved as vacationers.

As with any group, it is not reasonable to make broad assumptions about someone's behaviour simply because they belong to one classification or another. I have met well behaved cheerleaders, conventioneers, and families over the years, just as I have met ill-mannered cheerleaders, conventioneers, and families over the years.

Back to the OP's reflections - I am not a fan of the Pepper Market either, mainly due to the food offerings, but I AM a fan of CSR due to many of the other things it offers, including the varied landscaping and layout, the location, the salon, etc.

If we all enjoyed the same things for the same reasons it would be a boring world indeed! :)

We just returned from a split stay at AKV and CSR. DD27 preferred CSR and loved the Pepper Market. We were disappointed in the Maya Grill though.

We were in Casitas 3, overlooking the lions fountain. Perfect spot for us. Near the quiet pool, manageable walk to the lobby and food court, also near Bus Stop 2.

We like CSR BECAUSE it is a convention resort...and it has a more adult feel.

Thanks, sometimes the smileys can tell a great story.

My MIL stayed at CSR a number of years ago and she was really disappointed with it overall. Because we've done the past couple of trips with them they pick the resort, which is why we've not been there yet.

I agree that all the prices in WDW are high and I go in expecting that WL's cheeseburger and fry is going to be double what I'd pay at home for McDonalds, but now your talking almost triple at CSR ( Can't Stop {removed for taste})!
Come on - you may detest, or hate, the resort and its restaurants, and its Guests - but was THAT really necessary?

I'm curious why the food there is more? That seems pretty awful, particularly since it's a mod. Someone said it's not Disney owned and WL is and that's a possible reason? If this is the case, Disney should try for consistency, at least in fast food at its resorts and I'm sure they have huge contracts to hotels that are licensed out to other companies.

Who owns CSR? I didn't know any of the hotels currently there were owned by other companies (I know about the ones to come).

I have to say, while it may seem like a small thing, if there was a 10% fee to eat inside there, and prices were higher at my resort, I'd be saddened. It wouldn't ruin my vacation, but I'd be conscious of it. I chose CBR last April, I was going to try CSR in the future, but I think it'll be POFQ.

Is it like a sit down restaurant at least where they take your order, refills, and so on?

It is not a true 'food court' like at the value and other moderate resorts. You are seated, beverages and silverware is brought to your table, and the table is bussed.

Some prefer this to a true food court, others don't. It's a matter of personal preference.

I am not sure what the Wilderness Lodge has to do with this, but I had thought Roaring Fork was the standard counter service location like all the other Resorts and is nothing like the Pepper Market.

The "Tip" at the Pepper Market for WHAT?

They didn't bring me beverages, silverware or anything!

They showed me the ONLY clean table in the joint (don't you think I could have found that on my own)

They did NOT clean a single dirty table around me while I ate, but stood there "gossiping" with each other.

10% to help myself and look at dirty tables?????

Maybe if they did what they were "advertised" as doing I would not resent it, but to sit surrounded by dirty tables and be charged for showing me the ONLY clean table???? That's a rip off IMHO!

My overall experince at CSR has been spotty. My favorite was the time the front desk staff asked me "can't you just live with the room tonight" The room in question had NO POWER!!!!! It was SUMMER in Orlando. NO, I was not willing to "live with the room" LOL! (And on the DIS I discovered that the fact that I wanted POWER made me a "a problem guest" At least some folks on here would have stayed there anyway I mean 'it's Disney' LOL!)

I had a very different reaction to CSR from the OP.

I stayed there for 5 days in May/June of this year .. and other than some very minor housekeeping issues with my room, I had a fantastic experience. All those 'badge-and-suit-wearing' types were never on the buses to the parks or DTD which made for super zippy and easy bus travel.

I did NOT eat at Pepper Market. I kept meaning to but then something would always come up. I took a rather extensive and detailed walk around the resort and thought grounds and different areas were quite lovely. In fact, other than check-in, check-out and purchasing some Advil.. I don't think I was in the main building too much that trip. This probably explains why the badge-and-suit types weren't bothersome to me.

My room was very close to the main pool and I ate CS at the pool location (Siesta's) on several occasions and thought it was fine. The prices at Siesta's were much more comparable to other WDW counter service locations... much to my surprise & delight.. (I expected it to be pricier)

If I remember right, I paid about $7 for a burger & fries. Much less than the 9.75 at PM.

I don't mind eating out of doors. It's a novelty.

And altho I don't recall being nearly run over by any golf carts, I was offered a lift on several occasions by the same carts and once or twice I took advantage of that.

 Almost every trip I have made to YFC I have eaten outdoors... (well, except for those winter trips ;) )

Sorry - just HAD to comment on that!

Being from Canada where we have about 3.5 months a year where you can eat outdoors.. I really actually prefer it.

The OP did a price comparison. Burger and fries for 6.95, Pepper market 8.95. Same product at both, 2 dollars more at one. What justifies the 2 dollars? A burger and fries is pretty standard counter service and if Pepper market is the only CS available at CSR I wouldnt be happy paying 8.95 for it when its less at other resrots. I say this particularly since its a mod, not a deluxe.

Nevermind, PP answered my question, there's another option, siesta's. :)

I'm from Vancouver and I always laugh when people talk about winter in florida. Here, it may get cold for a week or two, around 34, it can often go the entire winter without snowing though, so our winters are pretty easy. But to me, Florida is basically constant summertime, even during the rain or "cold"!

I always feel like a polar bear when I read about people being worried about the weather there temp wise.

I sometimes find it funny while I am in Florida in the month of December and they say it's going to be a cold one at 60 or 65 degrees. I understand that if someone lives there 12 months of the year how they might think it's cold, however I would take that type of weather compared to the weather in Toronto, not to mention the times it's snows.
