Just back from a 7 night stay at CBR Martinique Building 24 with 2 rooms, 3 kids, 1 husband and 2 grandparents. Had a great time - great location. Only disappointments were the disney transportation system - especially whenever Magic Kingdom was involved - and the early closing of many attractions! If you have any questions, ask away! :bounce:

I am going to CBR next Oct in bldg # 25 lakeside. I have never seen it but I hope it will be a romantic spot. We are not taking our kids this time. I need to hear about your transportation because it sounds like it might not be good news.

Welcome home...
We are scheduled to stay at this resort for a week in August; we've never stayed here before but it looks very nice. My only concern as you mentioned is transportation; we will not have a car and for our first night there I've booked us dinner at the Hoop-Dee-Doo to celebrate my hubby's 40th. I'm concerned about getting there on time and finding a way back afterwards. Did you find the transportation slow overall?

i have the same concerns as hamham. we are also going in august and will also be car-less.

what kinds of issues did you have?

I suggest that you post your transportation concerns about CBR on the Transportation board. Chip and Dale usually answers very quickly with times and suggestions.

A few of you asked for a few more details. We are from the midwest and do not deal with big commutes on a daily basis, so sometimes I wonder if we are a little oversensitive to any waits for buses because we don't deal with that on a daily basis. So....I'll just give you the details and you guys can judge if it will be a big deal for you individually. But, there were people on the bus complaining who were from New York. Someone spoke of missing a dinner reservation completely due to the busing situation. As I said, we were in Martinique. Martinique seemed to be more of a last stop - so I don't know if the buses filled before coming by Martinique and then left without going by, or what. But, I can say that before requesting Martinique (although it was an ideal location for access to everything) I'd check out the transportation issues further. Some details of our situation......we would wait for at least 30 minutes for a magic kingdom bus. Tons of other buses would go by to other destination - sometimes multiple for epcot or mgm, etc before a MK bus would come. Leaving MK after a later park closing was an absolute nightmare - all resorts were busy, but nothing like CBR - the All Star series had pretty long lines too. We probably waited 1-1 1/2 hours to get back. Other resort lines were very managable - as I do realize this is a busy, busy time. No one was going anywhere fast. The AK bus was rather slow too as it stops at Blizzard Beach on the way to and from. There were just waits we hadn't anticipated. We drove to and from Epcot, MGM and Downtown Disney as they are close and it was much faster than the buses. I am just not sure if I would want to be a CBR without a car with these issues - but this was our experience. Others may have a more positive experience. We had a little one too ( just a year), a 3 yr old and 9 yr old and the waits were difficult for them. If it had just been us alone, the wait may not have phased us. I'd just look into the problems further if I were going soon. Fire away any further questions. It was a beautiful resort!

At park closing times, it tends to be quicker to return to your resort if you hop a bus to DD and then transfer to the bus returning to your resort. More people are trying to return to their resort than are going to DD and at that time of night, not as many people are leaving DD. It's worth a try when the lines are getting long. I know my son would rather be riding in a bus than standing on line.
Good luck!

wow -- an hour + wait would bother me too! (and i have a 1-2 hour commute every day to work)

Sorry you were disappointed with the bus transportation at CBR, SPappas. My party of 8 and I returned 2 weeks ago from our stay at CBR (Aruba) and we were very pleased with the bus transportation. However, we always took advantage of early entry and we were catching the bus by 7:30am. Our longest wait was perhaps 20 minutes when we were going to Typhoon Lagoon (we arrived at the bus stop later that morning-9:15). In fact, we pondered renting a minivan for one day when we wanted to go to the waterpark but since the buses were running so smoothly, we cancelled our reservation.
For those of you planning your stay at CBR, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

SPappas,

So what did you think about the rooms and your location? We're requesting #25 so we could be closer to the food court so I was wondering if there is a big difference in location as far as Martinique #24 and #25 goes?

Did you feel the rooms were clean? Oh, were you on the ground floor or second floor? Did you have any problems with bugs?

Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance!!:p

You can no longer take a bus from any of the parks to DD, or from DD to any of the parks. You must travel to or from a resort to get there. We were just there May 25-31 and I had to go from DD to the Swan/Dolphin and catch the boat from there to get to MGM. It was a pain.

I've been to CBR 4 times now, going on 5 in august:D We always stay in Jamaica, and we very rarely have problems getting where we are going. I can see how that would happen in Martinique though. Sometimes when the buses get to us they are pretty full, and we end up standing, so they probably are full when they get to Martinique. I guess it depends on where you are staying in CBR, but you should probably allow an average of an hour for travel. I hope you had fun though, and to all those who are staying there, dont let their problems discourage you, just adjust the time you allow for travel as to where you are staying and have fun ;) Email me if you need to know anything. I'll help you out.
