Just a quick report on our stay at BLT!

We started off at SSR (using developer pts.) for 5 nights in a 2BR. We loved the resort and had a relaxing and wonderful time here. We loved the close proximity to DTD.

Next.... 6 nights at BLT! We originally planned on 5 nts. but decided to add a night. We had to change rooms on the 6th night but luckily our new room was ready :cool1: when we checked out of our old room. The first 5 nts. were in a MK 1BR. The view of MK is beautiful...night and day. Just one downside.....at about 7:45am, the CR was getting some deliveries one morning and it was a little noisy. You have to train your eye on the MK view side to look past the parking lot and out over the MK park but once you do that, it IS awesome. The rooms are sleek and wonderful. Unfortunately, the previous guests in our room sort of trashed it.....very unsettling to see especially since the resort has only been open a few weeks. There was pen on the curtains, scratches on the dining table, a huge piece of the frame knocked off of the full length mirror in the master bedroom. There was a hole in the leather chair. The toilet paper roll in the master had been ripped off the wall and maitenance came in to drywall, paint and repair. Either the folks before us had children and let them do anything, or the people were playing football in the room. We have three kids but we treat hotel rooms with the same respect that we treat our own home. I just cannot imagine......:sad2:

For the last night, we were upgraded to a 2BR on the Bay Lake side. I can't say which view I liked better as BOTH were lovely. The only thing you miss on the Bay Lake side is the fireworks and you can watch those on the bridge or in the Lounge with the music piped in!

The proximity to the CR and monorail was great.

A note about The Top of the World Lounge...............PLEASE start using it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We talked with Rich (the manager) and Brucie (the bartender).....both were wonderful. Unfortunately, very few people have been going up there and I can't figure out why not. Kids are allowed and you can get drinks and some nice appetizers up there. There were only two other parties up there when we were there and apparently it's like that most nights. I fear that if members don't start using it, we're going to lose it!

Prior to our trip, I had read on the Dis that nighlights were a good idea. It was a great suggestion. On the Bay Lake side, the brightness from the pool all night still peaks through the curtains so they are not as necessary. However on the MK side, it is quite dark at night and the nightlights in the bathrooms were very helpful.....especially if you're traveling with kids who might need help finding their way at night.

A last note about Mousekeeping.....Upon check in at SSR, our room was a little gross. It was not dusted, there were lipstick marks on the wine glasses, the coffee pot had not been cleaned, there were coffee stains on the floor in the kitchen, and drink rings on the tables. I used my clorox wipes to surface clean everything but did call and let them know.....just got a "sorry about that" response. We decided to let it go and enjoy our trip. Even at BLT, we didn't get that sparkly clean feeling about the room. I sure hope Mousekeeping improves. It wasn't enough to put a damper on our trip, but if this trend continues, it may make us re-think the benefits of DVC. I just don't think it's too much to ask to have a clean room when you check in.

If you have any questions about BLT, I'm happy to help. All in all we had a truly "magical" trip. We are thrilled with BLT....what a great addition to DVC!

Glad to hear you really enjoyed BLT! So did we.

I'm glad you had a good trip and liked BLT! :goodvibes

I liked BLT too with only a few pet peeves. I didn't like the placement of the DSA's, the absence of sheers on the windows to let in light, and the vanity in the master bathroom. I can't see without my glasses and had to practically kneel on the counter to see in the mirror. I ended up using the sink and mirror in the kids bathroom instead.

Other than that, BLT was great and we loved staying there. ( I especially liked the comforter on the bed) :goodvibes

Thanks for the report. We are checking into BLT in November. I am troubled by the Mousekeeping report. Lipstick stains on the wine glasses? That would simply p me off.

We'll definitely use the lounge; does it fill up during the fireworks? Are children REALLY welcome?

Also, thanks for mentioning Clorox wipes. I'll take that in addition to lots of hand sanitizer.

I have also had issues with Mousekeeping. We have had times when things were not as desired, and it does make you second think your decision to buy into DVC. You EXPECT the rooms to be VERY clean.. sometimes they do disapoint you. I too hope they improve.

We will be checking in tomorrow!!!!

Quick question...is there a hairdryer??

No problem. I literally walked into each room and Clorox wiped the phones, remotes, doorknobs and light switches while DH rolled his eyes! But even HE thought Mousekeeping was poor this trip. And from now on, I will run the dishwasher with the "clean" dishes I plan to use before we use them. :sad2:

The lounge did NOT fill up during fireworks while we were there. Be sure to report back on the lounge. Maybe it's just getting a slow start? And, yes, children are really welcome, although I'm sure they don't want any wild ones. :goodvibes

I hope you have a GREAT time!! :)

Glad you had such a nice (long) trip! We stayed in a 2BR villa at AKV for a week in August and it was immaculate-really! We also stayed an additional two nights at SSR and found the villa to be very clean-just missing a knob on an armoire which I mentioned to staff. We're members since 2003 and have never had the experience of a dirty villa, but if I found one that was I'd be very unhappy!

No Problem - Instead of Disney charging those guests for the damage (and perhaps risking that they won't return) they'll just raise the maintenance fees for ALL DVC members. That seems to be the Disney way - NEVER PO the rule breakers. Makes me think again about staying in DVC; I know I'll stay, but they really need to take action againist the poopheads that have no consideration for the next guests.

Actually, it is more a cultural thing: make no one accept responsibility for their actions!

Is the lounge you're referring to open to the the general public or just to guests of the BLT? We'll be at CG for dinner and would love to pop over. We're also weighing jumping into being DVC owners and would like to see the place without doing a formal tour.

Thanks for the report. I makes me sad, but not surprised, to hear that the rooms are already being trashed. People are so rude.

Top of the world Lounge is ONLY for DVC members staying at the BLT

And I too and VERY angry about people trashing the rooms :(
At regular motels and hotels they will charge you for damage!!!

Glad to hear that you enjoyed BLT! In terms of mousekeeping, we have been lucky. We have had 4 DVC stays, 2 at AKV, 1 at BWV, and 1 at OKW. We were very pleased with the condition of the rooms.

I can say, however, that if we ever encounter an unacceptable room, we would not clean it, but we would call housekeeping and insist that it be corrected. I would also walk down to the front desk to express our displeasure. As members, we should never tolerate this. We should also never leave a room in bad condition.

When you have three young kids in tow and wanting to make the most of your vacation, we decided to clean what was not done well by Mousekeeping. In addition, if it wasn't done well the first time, we didn't have much confidence it would be cleaned well after a complaint. At that point, it was quicker to do a Clorox wipe sweep and run the dishwasher.

This was our 4th DVC stay and the first time we felt Mousekeeping was sub-par.

FWIW, we also called and told them about the damage after we checked into BLT. We didn't want to be held accountable for any damage that was done by the previous guests.

Hi there! It sounds like BLT is just wonderful! I have one question please. How long did it take you to walk to the Towers and get on the monorail? I am helping a friend with her vacation and she is lucky enough to be staying there. First trip to WDW also! I am trying to make it as stress free as I can so she will want to go back again and again! Thanks for the help.

Thats unfortunate. Its pretty sad when a place is begging for business and they dont' let other guests come in. Do any of the other DVC sites do this as well? I'm really surprised since anyone can use any of the lounges at all of the properties (except CL of course....).
