Just a quick report on our stay at BLT!
We started off at SSR (using developer pts.) for 5 nights in a 2BR. We loved the resort and had a relaxing and wonderful time here. We loved the close proximity to DTD.
Next.... 6 nights at BLT!
We originally planned on 5 nts. but decided to add a night. We had to change rooms on the 6th night but luckily our new room was ready
when we checked out of our old room. The first 5 nts. were in a MK 1BR. The view of MK is beautiful...night and day. Just one downside.....at about 7:45am, the CR was getting some deliveries one morning and it was a little noisy. You have to train your eye on the MK view side to look past the parking lot and out over the MK park but once you do that, it IS awesome. The rooms are sleek and wonderful. Unfortunately, the previous guests in our room sort of trashed it.....very unsettling to see especially since the resort has only been open a few weeks. There was pen on the curtains, scratches on the dining table, a huge piece of the frame knocked off of the full length mirror in the master bedroom. There was a hole in the leather chair. The toilet paper roll in the master had been ripped off the wall and maitenance came in to drywall, paint and repair. Either the folks before us had children and let them do anything, or the people were playing football in the room. We have three kids but we treat hotel rooms with the same respect that we treat our own home. I just cannot imagine......
For the last night, we were upgraded to a 2BR on the Bay Lake side. I can't say which view I liked better as BOTH were lovely. The only thing you miss on the Bay Lake side is the fireworks and you can watch those on the bridge or in the Lounge with the music piped in!
The proximity to the CR and monorail was great.
A note about The Top of the World Lounge...............PLEASE start using it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We talked with Rich (the manager) and Brucie (the bartender).....both were wonderful. Unfortunately, very few people have been going up there and I can't figure out why not. Kids are allowed and you can get drinks and some nice appetizers up there. There were only two other parties up there when we were there and apparently it's like that most nights. I fear that if members don't start using it, we're going to lose it!
Prior to our trip, I had read on the Dis that nighlights were a good idea. It was a great suggestion. On the Bay Lake side, the brightness from the pool all night still peaks through the curtains so they are not as necessary. However on the MK side, it is quite dark at night and the nightlights in the bathrooms were very helpful.....especially if you're traveling with kids who might need help finding their way at night.
A last note about Mousekeeping.....Upon check in at SSR, our room was a little gross. It was not dusted, there were lipstick marks on the wine glasses, the coffee pot had not been cleaned, there were coffee stains on the floor in the kitchen, and drink rings on the tables. I used my clorox wipes to surface clean everything but did call and let them know.....just got a "sorry about that" response. We decided to let it go and enjoy our trip. Even at BLT, we didn't get that sparkly clean feeling about the room. I sure hope Mousekeeping improves. It wasn't enough to put a damper on our trip, but if this trend continues, it may make us re-think the benefits of DVC. I just don't think it's too much to ask to have a clean room when you check in.
If you have any questions about BLT, I'm happy to help. All in all we had a truly "magical" trip. We are thrilled with BLT....what a great addition to DVC!
