Just back from BLT!

I am a new DVC member. I bought 100 pts at the AKV and my month is FEB. I all ready bank my pts. Have not decided yet to take my vacation yet. I am thinking about time around Wine and Food Fest. My friends and I stayed in the Poly for 6 nights in AUG. Hearing about people who does not take of their stay at the DVC property make me mad.:headache: What goes around normaly comes around. Just hope it is not 10 times the amount they gave out. Just hope it is 100 times:laughing: Not really, I do not want to wish no harm on anyone. It just feels good to put it down on paper. I have a offsite timeshare property in AZ. I love the timeshare concept. The reason why I became a DVC member is because the other timeshare lost their contract for the exchange with Disney timeshare properties. Been a Disney nut since 1971 the first year I set food on WDW property.

the top of the world will be rented to the public - so just appreciate it for the short time DVC members get it.

really don't think there would be a problem allowing any and all guests staying at BLT to have access to it. but so far they are only allowing DVC member staying on points to access it.


really expecting it to be rented this year for Thanksgiving or some days during Christmas to NY - for this year. and yea people will complaint. but hey it is in your contract.


at least they are still allowing members to use it. the attic was already Disney only property to be only rented. the excuse was there were too many members.

so at BLT they are limiting the access. really think that is the only way to kept Disney from saying again - that there are too members.
 
Due to the poor attendance by DVC Members staying at BLT, Disney has already started admitting CRO cash Guests to the lounge. It hasn't picked up steam yet but we should see the crowds increasing soon.
 
We also just returned from BLT. It was beautiful but many issues we had have already been metioned. No, our rooms were not spotless and yes they do show wear already. We really wanted to try this hotel out so we moved 4 times. At least 2 of our sofas had holes in the side one of our bedrom doors was misssing a knob and it was very dark in every room.

Now onto mouse keeping. One 1 bedroom the stove actually still had spaghetti sauce on it and someone elses shoes were still in the closet. The shoes could have been overlooked but they were bright red and all you had to do was open the door and they were there. The spaghetti was not a huge deal as I just wiped it off. However I am paying lots of money for DVC and it only being less than 30 days old I was expecting everything to be sparkiling. Kind of thinking hey this is new we should all take pride in it especially the new mousekeepers.

On to our last night a standard view studio. Well it was disgusting. The trash was not emptied there was wrappers on the counters and change on the shelf which was completely covered in dust except where you could see that a plate or something was moved. The one night with the spaghetti sauce ect. I let go. This one I did not. My daughter was sleeping so I did not want them coming to my room to fix but I wanted them to know. So, I called mousekeeping and they said it sounds like your room was not cleaned. (Brilliant aren't they) So, I told them I did not want someone to come to clean I just needed all new sheets and towels and she was asking me how many sheets how many pillowcases how many towels. fine I'll send some one. I then said I also need wash cloths and hand towels and she started getting a litlle snippy with me. I felt like I was doing them a favor by cleaning the room my slef but I did not trust the sheets and towels but I guess she did not care. My last question to her was how long. She snapped back after you let me go I'll dispatch it. I was not rude in anyway but was not happy about the way I was being spoken to. Whatever move on. 15 minutes goes by of me standing in the hallway. Nothing. Just mouskeepers walking up and down the hallway not even acknowledging me. finally I hear a mouskeeper a couple of doords down saying housekeeping needs me to bring them sheets and towels. So, I perk up thinking here they are. Well I stop her and say I am the one looking for the fresh linens and she says oh what do you need. I jus tell her everything. Nothing is clean. So she runs off and in a minute is back with everything. I say thank you so much. Now no one else is coming back right because I have a baby sleeping in my room.
No no no put your do not disturb sign up and no one will bother you I will take care of it. so I very happily take my clean linens wave to my husband and go on my way.

When I return 2 hours later I find that 20 minutes after I left someone came banging on the door with more linens. I guess the do not disturb sign doesnt work. My husband took the linens and said thanks because he was in with the baby so he did not know if i asked for more oh what.

After all of this the next morning I wake up and it is really bothering and then no express checkout on our door no magical express info nothing. So, now I am really aggrevated I called down to the front desk and asked for a manger and get what can I help you with?? Nothing I need to talk to a manger. Fair enough hold on. This was not the time to messing with me.

A manger picks up the phone within a minute and apologizes like crazy I just started off by telling him how dissapointed I was with everythin and I did not want to make a big fuss or a scene in the lobby. He appreciated that and then told me thing would being taken care of. He sent a runner up with our checkout info and they were there within minutes he also gave us a late check out. When the runner came it had his card and guest communications email on it. He asked if we could please document everything when we got home. He said if people don't tell them things are wrong they can not fix it.

Sorry to hijack this thread and I kind of rambled but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if something is wrong let the proper people know about it. :wizard:

:scared1: WOW! I am really sorry about your terrible mousekeeping experiences......just no excuse for that.

I wonder if you should post this again on it's own thread? Maybe more people would see it and in return help do something about it? (letters, emails, etc.) I think it's so important and hope this isn't a new trend....horrible mousekeeping. Can U share the guest communications email address?

I understand about not wanting them to come in and clean. We felt the same way. It's not hard to see mousekeeping's presence in the room.....new soaps and folded towels. It doesn't mean that they've cleaned well. I'm sure they don't bleach or sanitize the knobs, sinks, etc. EVERY time. Thank goodness for those anti-bac wipes.
 
I stayed at BLT for 6 nights with my two kids. We all went to TOTW the first night and had drinks (the kids felt very grown-up with their Shirley Temples) and appetizers. We watched Wishes, finished up our food, had one last drink and left. The place was totally full from the 30 minutes before Wishes to about 15 minutes after. I then went alone the last night (yes, after 6 nights, I was ready to have some alone-time!) and I had my OWN appetizer and drink - and was blissfully alone inside in the dark while everyone watched Wishes. Wishes was early on this night, and it did completely clear out right afterwards.

I was told that while the lounge was for DVC on points at BLT, they were allowing guests-of-DVC-on-points-at-BLT there at the same time, so that extended families at different resorts or whatever could go together. It was also clear that of the total crowd at BLT, I doubt half are DVC, so it isn't surprising that the lounge isn't filling up only with that category of people every night.

I wouldn't mind if they expanded the menu a bit - I listed this on the survey I was sent in the mail yesterday! All in all, it's a great place, and until they let anyone up to CA Grill at ANY time (which they don't do now - even though it is a restaurant open to all and where you purchase drinks/food), I don't think they should immediately do that for TOTW either. There's a fine line, and they just need to find the balance, that's all.
