Just back from BCV - disapointed

On our last visit we found lots of broken stuff. I called and they came and fixed everything. I didn't want the next DVCer to have to deal with it. If a little effort makes someones stay a little nicer its all worth it.

Sorry to read that the OP had some issues at BCV. We love our home resort, have also had issues there, and have called during our stays to get them resolved. I stay in various timeshare resorts throughout the year and make a point to do a quick visual check when we arrive. I start making a list of things that I notice right away. I call immediately to report problems, and then keep a running list and check things off as they are attended to. At BCV, we have had whole refrigerators replaced, knobs fixed, stove tops fixed, light bulbs replaced, carpets dried from a leaky ice maker, etc. At other resorts, we have had sliding screens replaced, light plate fixtures replaced, water pressure fixed, curtain rods hung, carpet cleaned, dishes and glasses brought in, outside windows washed, tops of refrigerators cleaned, stove fans replaced...the list goes on.

I think it helps the resort and the owners to report things in a timely manner so that they can get fixed. I know it's inconvenient and I often wonder why they could not do it in between guests, but the reality is that someone just checks out, housekeeping comes, and housekeeping leaves.

Glad to hear that you had a good time anyhow. We had our entire order of groceries LOST by Bell Services one year and had to rent a car and go and re-buy everything, which wasted a good chunk of my morning. But we still had a fabulous time (though at the moment it happened I was quite livid, as you can imagine!).

I am sorry the OP had issues. I agree wholeheartedly with previous posters that these issues are not unique to BCV and that addressing the problems as soon as you notice them while you are there is best.

I am BCV now through May 28. We did online check-in and arrived at the resort at 9AM on May 21. We received the text message that our dedicated 2BR room was ready at 3:03 PM. The large 8 quart pot was sitting in the hallway outside the room with some sort of disgusting mold growing inside it. We called down to the front desk and they delivered a new pot and took away the old one within five minutes. Later in the evening we noted that there were no linens for the pull-out couch nor an extra set in the closet and Mousekeeping delivered a full set within five minutes of us calling.

The room was very clean and thus far our stay has been without incident and we are loving our first stay at BCV!

Please explain how you request for a supervisor to inspect the unit.
When and how do you actually request this process?
On my next trip I will be arriving late, and I don't want to be handed an unacceptable unit while all the others have been handed out.

Thanks.

I ask for it twice. I call a couple days prior to arriving and make 2 requests: for a pool view toward the main BC and to have a supervisor check our room prior to occupancy. I just say that I have had issues with cleanliness and the room being in good repair in the past, and I would appreciate this inspection in order to avoid have that happening again. The second time I ask is on check-in, and I basically say the same thing. We do online check-in, but when I pick up my packet, I will say that again.

It seems to have worked well as there have been only minor issues since. I also want to say that Disney has been great about fixing any issue I have had. For instance, on a recent visit the bedroom ceiling fan made an annoying clicking sound - my husband called, and they replaced the fan that day. Sandie

Do you always get the pool view toward the main BC?

I still believe The Disney hotels and DVCs need teams and not individuals working on cleaning and restocking the rooms. They'd be done faster, properly and there would be a second set of eyes to review everything. Each team member has their job, but oversees their teammate's work because the room overall is a reflection of how they personally perform in their job.

Two people should be able to clean twice as many rooms as one, so there should be no increase in cost.

I think it is important to remember that the carpets in the rooms are cleaned after the previous guests check out and it takes time for them to dry. I know we also don't like waiting for our room once we arrive especially after 4 pm.

There is room for improvement at all the DVC and regular rooms. We took the leatherman and tightened all the knobs in the kitchen. It was just a stupid something but it was easy for us to do.

We all agree that problems need to be reported when we are the unit so it can be a teaching moment for the staff rather than later it being a complaint.

To the OP I am glad you didn't let it ruin your vaca and had a good time. I appreciate your overall comments on the BCV.

was most likely from someone who was there on CRO not a DVC owner. The owners respect the facilities as we are the ones coming back again and again. We have had kitchen tables missing from rooms upon checkin or all the knick knacks missing.

The cleanliness factor...call the front desk and tell them you are not satisfied and want to be moved to another room. Our last trip we found similar conditions...they said they did not have another room but miracle of miracles they had one by the time we got back to the front desk :)

As other posters have said....don't wait until you get home to voice your concern.

Our last stay was at BCV and we won't be rushing back. We were locked out of our room until 1:30 in the morning our first day. Underwhelmed by the cleaning and condition of the room....the only thing that would make me go back is access to a great pool. But I'm ready to go back home to Kidani next!

Can you expand on how you were locked out of your room until 1:30 in the morning? How long were you actually locked out? Did it take hours for them to get your room open? Or were you just arriving back late and were locked out?

Thanks

I guess what irks me, and like Diane, we also do a quick 'is everything clean and in the kitchen check', but why can't MOUSEKEEPING do that same freaking check, once they're done cleaning and report the missing items? The bowls are always int he same spot, they can't note that there is only 4 and their should be 8?

Seems to me a radio shout out at that point could do wonders... :confused3

With that said... we are really looking forward to staying at the BCV for only the second time since we bought there way back before it even opened... :goodvibes

We found the pool to be 'too big' for our littleones (3 kids under 5), back in 2003 .... :dance3:

This trip, if our room isnt ready, we are prepared to wallow in SAB for hours and hours and hours in the blazing heat with icey adult beverages and ice cream for the kids... but only if our room isnt ready.... ;)

We just returned from a week in a 2bd villa at BCV. I have stayed at BCV in studio many times and it was great, but this time we had way too many issues.
-Room wasn't ready until 5:30, we arrived at 2pm and did online check in. I understand 4pm in check in but 5:30 in very bad.
-Room was dirty, so much hair on bathroom floors and towels had holes in them and we had no extra tp, ran out on second day. Had to search out a maid cart and beg for more.
-Kitchen was missing a lot of items, plates, dish soap, paper towels, sponge, corksrew, frying pan.. All these things are suppose to be in room, enough for 8 people.

I am disapointed but it didn't ruin our trip. We pay a lot of money for DVC and i would like to see this returned to owners in the form of better upkeep and customer care.

OMG your room sounds like a crime scene!

We had a very bad start to a BCV trip last year. We were given a text that the room was ready, but when we arrived we saw at least 4 mousekeepers frantically working at cleaning the place up. Apparently it had been truly trashed.

We were luckier than you, in that when we finally were given the second message that the room was ready, it was, but we had mismatched chairs, for instance.

I agree that you should write to Member satisfaction. I do when I feel there's an issue that needs to be addressed, and I've usually come away feeling satisfied that they have listened and heard.

Bobbi:goodvibes

If a room is trashed like that, do they charge the previous occupants in any way?
