We just returned from our stay at AKV. I had asked about the Sundown Mingle before we left and said I would share the information when we returned...so here it is!
The mingle is held on Mondays and Wednesdays. We check in on Wednesday after having spent the first half of our trip at BWV. When we were checking in, I headed over to the DVC desk to sign us up. Even though it was 4:15, I did not think they would fill up and did not think it would be a problem. When I reached the desk, they told me they were full for the day and could not get us in but to check back at around 4:45 since people do cancel. DH reached the desk at this point and asked if we could at least be put on a list or something. I was a little disappointed but understood (especially since we were 6 adults in our party) and wouldn't have been crushed if we couldn't get in.
We headed up to our room and at around 5:10, a man from the DVC desk called our room and told us to come on down.
There were several different types of hors d'oeuvres including some very yummy crab cake balls! The drink table had self serve non-alcohic beverages as well as an alcoholic punch that had to be served to you.
There were gathering height tables scattered around the room for eating and socializing. I'm an not 100% sure about this since we didn't have young children with us but I think they had activities for kids in a different area. There were only 2 young kids that I saw in the room we were in.
At 5:30, the DVC guide led a few silly mingling games for people to meet other DVCers. At the end, there was a drawing for a $100 gift certificate.
It truly was just a social hour. No talk of add-ons or incentives to buy. I wouldn't leave the parks to come back for this or anything, but if you are around and can fit it in I felt it was worth going to.
