Why is the third floor the worst? Did you mean for standard view only? Also, while we are on the topic, what floor is best for Savanah view??

Mitch Mouse, the third floor giraffe trail would be considered the worst, IMO, as it is low and along the much used walkway to the busses, as well as the drive way. With the upper floors you at least have a roof overhang that takes the pedestrians out of play.

As for third floor elsewhere this is personal taste, I guess. I liked the third floor savannah just as much as the 6th flor. They're diferent but great nonetheless. I've also liked our rooms on Kudu, Zebra and Ostrich trails equally well.

We just returned from AKL. We booked standard view but were upgraded to a great pool view room on the 4th floor (rm. 4454) which was quiet but very close to the elevator to Mara and the pool. I called the room assignor 2 days before our visit and found out we had already been upgraded. I was advised they upgrade from standard view whenever possible. All our requests were met (quiet room, bunkbeds, non-smoking and any upgrade possible). We were thrilled with AKL. The staff is the most accomodating we have ever had at Disney. Boma and Mara were delicious. The pool was fabulous. Transpostation to all parks was very quick. My kids (4 and 7) enjoyed all the resort activities (cookie decorating, pool opening, storytelling). I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Just a thought on that refillable mug vs coffee maker.

If the mug is just for coffee and not for soft drinks as well - I would consider stopping at Wal-Mart on the way to the resort. For the price of one refillable mug you can buy a coffee maker. Then just get filters and coffee and you ar all set for your stay - fresh brewed coffee whenever you want!

great idea Trekker i'm hoping to find time to lounge around the pool a little so i will probably end up buying the mug. i usually want my coffee FIRST thing when i get up LOL , but since i'm staying in a standard view room it might be nice to get ready to go first, then grab a coffee and find a place to sit, enjoy and watch the animals
