Just back from a holiday POP stay...any ??

A question for those who have stayed at the Pop.. are there elevators to take you to a 4th floor room or are you going up 4 flights of stairs???

There are elevators in all the buildings.

And for the earlier question about the 80s, DH and I stayed there twice. Depending on your room, these can be the farthest from the bus stop and the food court. You can cut through a parking lot to the bus stop, but that's not good for families with little ones.

Yes, there are elevators in the buildings. We always used them to go *up* to our 4th floor room, but found it was often quicker and just as easy to walk *down* the stairs.

One thing I want to mention that I don't see brought up here very often--probably because most people already know this, but just in case:) --please know that the rooms in this resort all have doors which lead to the outside, like a motel type set up. It is very quiet in your room when you close that outside door, I sometimes think because Disney has to insulate against rain, etc, the door is actually heavier (?) than it would be if the rooms were in an interior corridor. It is the same way (outside corridors/doors) with all of the values and the moderates at Disney. I always prefer booking hotels with interior corridors, but to save $$ at Disney, I will make the sacrifice! :)

Just got home from a week long magical stay at POP Century. We are from Chicago, so it was truly, truly amazing to experience the wonderful warm, sunny Florida weather at this time of year!

This was our second stay at POP..we were on the 4th floor in the 70's building with the Mickey Mouse phone in front. I loved the location, not too far from the food court, lobby, gift shop (gotta love that gift shop!:) ) From the balcony, we could see evening fireworks around the back side where the lake is located. We got towel animals!!! I loved that we could sit out by the Hippy Dippy Pool at 9 p.m. with an adult beverage in shorts and t-shirts during the last week of November!!!:cool1:

Now that I'm back here in cold, snowy Chicago, would love to talk more about POP and the holidays at the World...

any questions, please ask!:)
Wow you were in the same building as I except I was on the 3rd floor, with the Mickey Phone right outside of my room and our reviews are almost opposite.........I guess it just isn't my cup of tea, Although I do not consider myself a hotel snob, I waited to long and my only choices were Pop and CS. I thought all of the CM's were nice and helpful. But the moment I walked into the room I was very disappointed, at least my room looked like it had seen better days, the bed looked like 2 300 lb people had slept in it, with a dip in the middle, and although I can sleep on just about anything I found the mattress to be HORRIBLE, the pillows too. The room just had a "dirty" feel to me and I always wore socks. Towel animals, I saw one in almost everyone's window. The Food Court had good offerings but at peak times it is very busy. To me the worst thing was the hike from the parking lot to the room, after MVMCP last night I was a little uneasy, and I have never felt unsafe anywhere on Disney property, it just seemed like I was walking a couple of blocks to get from my car to the room. I will agree with you that the lake side is beautiful other than the fact that you still see the 2 unfinished buildings that are starting to look like ghost towns. Personally I will never stay here again and if it is my only choice I will stay offsite, but that won't happened since I learned from this trip to make those ressies way in advance! But of course this is just my thoughts on the resort and I know MANY others feel differently, to each his own, and I am glad Disney has so many other options to keep us all happy.

There are elevators to the floors and they are located in the mid section of the buildings, although I think unless you have luggage you can hoof it faster:goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay at POP Century. Which hotel were you hoping to book? I always thought I might like to try the Wilderness Lodge one day, but since we live in the north, anyway, the theming just isn't as appealing to me as the bright, loud colors of POP! Our room seemed to be clean, our mattress was okay (although yes it was hard, it wasn't sinking or anything.) Did you ask if you could change rooms while you were there? I hope your next trip and next resort stay is more magical! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, all opinions are welcomed and appreciated.:)

Actually I was trying for either POR or POFQ or even CB. I had asked about changing rooms but it seems the place was pretty well booked. I have stayed at the WL many many times, but during Dec. it is very difficult to get a room. I love the WL I guess because I grew up in Wisconsin.

I know the environment/theming at those moderates (I stayed there way back when it was Dixie Landings and it will *always* be Dixie Landings to me!:) ) is different than at POP Century. And there is absolutely no comparison with the Wilderness Lodge (deluxe property) and POP Century. It's funny because I go to Wisconsin a LOT, and that is one of the reasons I don't really want to stay at the WL. It's just too much like what I can get right near home, I don't need to travel all the way to Florida for that environment!) But for the $$ I spend to stay, and the fact that it is Disney and I get all the great Disney benefits for the "value" price, I will prob always book POP Century! Again, I'm sorry that you were disappointed. It's frustrating to spend $$ on a vacation and not have it live up to your expectations. I hope your next visit allows you to book the resort and room that you want, and you enjoy it a whole lot more. :) For me, POP Century works! :)

Any other questions about POP Century or the Christmas festivities at Disney? It's cold here in Chicago & I need to think Florida to warm up! :)
