Had a fun trip, but have some major concerns.

1. GV was not ready until almost 6pm. Annoying, but not major.

2. My four year old son comes out of the master bedroom holding a womans dirty thong. We were not in the room 5 minutes and he said he found it near the toilet.

3. Found two empty corona bottles and half a lime next to the floor on the bed.

4. Bathroom had feces on the floor near the toilet.

I called the front desk to let them know, and I was told that some issues should be expected since GV's get alot of use. I told them that my son should not be carrying around womens dirty underwear and I should not find feces near the toilet. I got the standard " we will have someone up soon". Soon was the following day.

The trip was fun and I did not let the room issue ruin my spirits, although my wife was pretty annoyed.

What did annoy me was that every restaraunt I went into was filthy! I mean I went to Hollywood and Vine for lunch and my table had a inch of grease on it and the silverware was filthy. I went to the Crystal Palace one day and there was more food under my table and on my seats than there was on the buffet. I just don't think I should have to walk into a restaraunt and have my arms stick to a table. My son sat down one day and had ketcup all over his back and pants. Does Disney clean these places?

I will say, that 1900 Park Fare was a great meal and the place was clean. We also enjoyed Whispering Canyon.

In the end, I feel that Disney is letting things slip more and more. Anyone else notice this, or am I being too picky?

No you are not being picky at all. There is no excuse for the GV not to be clean or to ever have poop on the floor, anywhere. Why didn't the housekeeper come that night? I would have insisted. I just think that they do not do a good job at cleaning their rooms. That really is the reason we just sold our DVC. I have not noticed the restaurants being dirty, but I have noticed a huge decline in the condition of the bathrooms. Did you write a letter? I would. They need to know people are watching and not everything is ok just since it is WDW. Sorry this happened to you.

Someone would have been in my room cleaning that night or I would have not have "paid" for it.

Yes, I can agree that maybe housekeeping missing wiping down a cabinet or something to that effect can happen and is no biggine but this should not be tolerated.

I would have been taking pictures of these issues and been livid had someone not been sent to the room in a timely manner.

I am sure there will be a DVC cheerleader saying that we are being unreasonable but there is no excuse for this.

We pay way too much in dues to have to put up with this.

This all sounds unreasonable to me. I would not have put up with that at all. Sounds like the cleaning crew rushed through the grand villa and were in a hurry to get out so you could get in.

Not getting in your room by 4:00PM is also a problem. Being 2 hours past that time would have prompted me to ask for some of my days points back into my account.

I do have to add that some people live like pigs. I can't believe people would allow feces to end up on the bathroom floor, or leave dirty underwear in the room. What's wrong with some people... :confused3. Please have some respect for the next person or group and don't just think about yourself.

As when the roaches were on the wall at BCV, I think this problem should have been brought to the attention of the front desk in person. I think the problems should have been handled that night and I would go to the front desk mentioning feces and dirt. Maybe it wouldn't have helped get it straightend out, but I want a clean room first and foremost.

I am sorry this happened. By the way, I notice your tag mentions something about finding out who the poop belongs to, I don't think you'd want to go that far!

Totally unacceptable and I would have waited and left the evidence for the Housekeeping Super to see in person.

And while they were recleaning my villa, I would have had dinner on them.

Everyone, I know this sounds like a broken record from me, but please do not call the Front Desk with housekeeping or maintenance issues, you are getting the Disney Call Center, or better known as the Disney Get the Run Around Center.

Call the department responsible, its on your phone as a push button option. I truly think when they get these messages second hand and especially if the member has already taken care of the issues, they really don't think they are happening. Pretty hard to deny when faced with the actual proof, though.

not an excuse about GV getting so much use and activity... I agree about one monthly dues being paid. If you get a merry maids and pay them right they are expected to clean right !

I am so sorry about this part of your vacation. Sorry bit I know I will be livid about it if it happend to my family!

I agree.
By using the push button, you have a much more direct link to the people who need to fix the problem (plus, since you are talking to the responsible department directly, it's harder for them to misunderstand what the problem is).
When we have called either Housekeeping or Maintenance directly, we have gotten pretty quick results.
We also had some problems with a GV in March. When we went to open the sofa bed the first night, there were sheets on it and someone had obviously eaten in bed because there were large chip crumbs inside. Also, the floor in the dining room area had some sticky spots.

Unfortunately, we had a visit like that at an OKW 1BDR quite a few years ago when my daughter was a toddler. Dirty coffee cups were put back into the cupboard, feces were on the wall near the toilet paper, countertops were not cleaned, etc. Called housekeeping and they sent someone to reclean the bathroom immediately. (They still missed the hairs in the shower that were not ours.) With a toddler who crawls and touches everything, I ended up recleaning everything, rewashing dishes, throwing out ice cubes. A supervisor or manager actually followed up the following day by knocking on our door.

That's the first and last time we ever had an issue to that extent. Some rooms have been cleaner than others. Anymore, I bring my own Lysol wipes and Lysol spray if I have any concerns. I throw out any ice cubes left in the freezer and start fresh (that trip, I also placed ice in my water...and it turned pink!!!!). Positive experiences during subsequent stays helped.

Sorry to hear of your negative experience. I hope you give DVC another chance.

In our six years as DVC members we have stayed in just about every type of room. This past visit was the first time our room wasn't ready when we checked in. ( we generally get in there between noon and 3pm ) It was a GV and we too didn't get in until 6pm. :confused3

This is just gross. Sorry you had to deal with that. I would have been calling mousekeeping every hour until they came up personally. That's just bad (and unacceptable) service.
As for getting in past 4 pm. I've had that happen at both BWV (studio) and OKW (2 bedroom). These are my only two times getting in past 4 pm. I feel like I'm at a break-even with this issue because this August, I got into our 2 bedroom OKW villa at 11 am and in Oct I got into VWL at like 10:30 am (and I also got into a non-DVC resort around 11 am). But I totally agree it's a major inconvenience to have to wait until 6 pm to get into a room. Hope your next trip goes much better.

I totally agree! the only way to actually GET the front desk is to go down there yourself and ask to speak to a manager. I have occationally called housekeeping directly too, but if it is after housekeeping hours, that wont be much help.

There was feces on the door frame of the bathroom in our BWV room this past July. Now, I am not one to complain, but that one deserved a call to housekeeping. I let them know how disgusted I was.

To have feces ANYWHERE is beyond disgusting and there is no excuse for how it was left there.

not getting in at 4PM fine, crumbs on the beds/sheets maybe OK, mousekeeping in a hurry and had not alot of time to prepare... But FECES on anyplace?????????? is there different ways on how HUMANS do number 2 ???? Don't we sit and deliver and wash/wipe and flush ??? This is one thing I cannot grasp ?! How do their own bathroom in their houses look like ??? :furious:

You weren't being unreasonable at all. I would have been very upset if housekeeeping didn't come until the next day! I agree with your assessment that Disney's cleanliness has been slipping over the years. I know there's been a lot of debate about that on many threads, but just from my first visit to WDW in 1989 to today there is quite a dramatic difference. I think with the huge amount of growth over the past 10 or so years Disney has had a hard time keeping up, and it's really a shame.

I'll start by saying that I ma very sorry this happened to you. There is no excuse for this. If they gave me the explanation about GV getting a lot of use I would have exploded. Don't give excuses just make it right.

Things at DVC and WDW are slipping. I started a poll about satisfaction levels with DVC, go vote there. It appears many are willing to look the other way with these problems. I am not. PLease follow up with higher ups.

That's disgusting. Even if they were short housekeeping staff that day, this should not have happened. And to miss someone's underwear? If I didn't know any better, I'd say someone was trying to get fired.

I hope this didn't ruin your vacation. :goodvibes

None of this is exceptable!! We are going to OKW in March and April with friends who have a motel. I am afraid what we will find when we open the door. We have been there twice and everything has been okay so far. You can see that things are starting to get worn down a bit but we noticed that over at BWV's too. I'm not sure what I would do if this happens to me. I was wishing in fact that we would arrive first before our friends but we are all traveling together. It would have given me a chance to work all things out. If you go down to the front desk to voice your concerns I can't believe they would not take care of it right away. Maybe other guests that are checking in need to hear what your going through. I never get overly upset or rude but I still would like to be heard and something done right away. What should we do if this happens to us. I know from reading other threads that it is important to take care of the problem them.

I would e-mail guest services. I couldn't find the e-mail address but if you go the the disney website, at the bottom under "contact us" there is a place to send e-mails. I sent one after our Sept. trip, nothing was as bad as dirty underwear or feces on the floor but there were issues that made our trip less magical than previous trips. DH laughed and said, "I bet they just delete those messages" and I agreed.

About 2 weeks after my email, my phone rang one morning and showed up on caller ID as "Lake Buena Vista", figured it was a telemarketer but I answered anyway. It was a lady from WDW guest services, she went over each complaint with me and apologized. She said that she had contacted the manager @ BWV and he was going personally to our room to check out the problems (we had quite a bit of mold & mildew in the shower). There were other issues as well that she addressed.

Perhaps if WDW gets enough of these complaints they will take them seriously. If they don't receive any complaints then they will assume that everything is great.

If you send an e-mail, give them your room # and dates. With a room in that bad of shape, they need to look and see who was in charge of cleaning it and see that they don't let it happen again.
