Our third trip to The food and wine festival was a lot of fun. The Dining plan really got in the way of our festival enjoyment. (Well, that and all the rain). Previous to this trip, my wife and I were on a low carb diet (less than 50g/day) designated by our doctor for 12 weeks. During the trip, we trashed the diet just by having orange juice (27g) during breakfast.. We track our weight on Sunday's and I will know tomorrow what the real damage is.

The "for what it is worth" part is that I wore a pedometer each day. On an average day, we walked 10.5 miles. The highest day we visited 2 parks plus Downtown Disney and clocked 14.8 miles. I was suprised by this and I wonder if anyone else has logged how much walking they did on an average WDW trip?

Now, if I could only be motivated or had the time to walk this much on my treadmill daily, I would be happy. :rotfl:

My DH and I average 12 miles per day at Disney over our normal 4 day trips, most in one day being 15 (that was before we "trained" ourselves ahead of time, however, and my ankles were so swollen by the end of the day that I needed to be pushed back to the hotel room in the bellman's cart, then soak in Epsom salt for most of the next day.)

How were the crowds? Temperature wise how was the weather?

That is interesting, thank you for sharing! My fiance and I are also low-carbing right now, but plan to totally binge when we get to Disney (it is our wedding and honeymoon so I think I am allowed :cool1: ). Anyway, 11 miles a day, according to how my feet feel at the end of the vacation, that sounds about right!!

10 miles sounds about right to me. I am not going to wear a pedometer because I am on vacation and I refuse to know. I also bagged my running the day I am going to MK because 5 miles on top of all that walking is a lot.

It never matters what I eat while I'm there, I always lose five pounds at Disney because of all the walking.

even though i've been on a strict, high protein, low carb eating plan for over 16 months now and my weight loss has slowed to 3-5 lbs per month, i STILL lost a lb at WDW last week. however, i stuck to my eating plan with one small exception-i ate 2 fried chicken tenders for lunch the first day at MK (i knew i should've gone somewhere else for something grilled, but DD8 was starving). i'm not sure how much we walked, but i know it was more than 2 miles b/c i can do that easily, and my legs were KILLING me by the time we got back to our room, lol.

Yeap, it's very easy to walk a minimum of 10 miles, truely amazing when you think about it! I wear a pedometer a lot as well on our trips. We stay at the S/D a lot so I try to walk from Epcot at least one way (as long as DD's stroller continues to hold up LOL!) Those days I easily clock in at 10-15 miles. MK days are usually less.

Unfortunately the brisk walk is the one that works off the food (for me anyway). Most of the park walking is off and on but walking from the hotel to the park is a good one :teeth: But, whatever way you look at it, the walking is a good benefit, whether it's continuous or not.

We just got back yesterday :sad1:

In response to your questions it was HOT, humid and very crowded! I believe it was usually about 93 degrees and about 100% humidity. With that said the times to get to the parks are early morning and in the evening.

The MK was open last week on Thursday (on a night that was not for MNSSHP) to park guests until midnight. I thought that was only done in the summer time if that gives to any indication on how busy it was!

Let me know if you have any questions...

Patty

On our last two trips we averaged 12 miles a day.Big day for us us was day at AK then MK in evening we walked 15.5 miles.

I just got back yesterday from a 10/4 to 10/8 trip also. This is the first time I've gone at a different time other than in July...and for me, the crowds were very similar to what I'm used to. So crowds were quite heavy....60-70 minute waits on most of the big attractions, 20-30 minutes on some of the others (HM, IaSW for example).

As said above, weather was HOT and HUMID. The humidity was worse than the plain heat...it was a relief once it finally rained and cooled off a little bit.

I stayed for the evening EMH at MK on Wednesday night and found the crowds much better than at the daytime. I've read some posts saying the crowds that night were terrible...I don't know, maybe I'm just used to ultra-heavy crowds, but to me, the park seemed pretty empty. HM showed a 5-min wait the whole time, but I was able to walk right into the stretch room twice in a row...BTMRR showed a 20 minute wait around 11:00pm, but when I entered, I wasn't in line more than 5 minutes. So during EMH don't necessarily trust the posted wait times...I found wait times to be much less!

We also just got back yesterday and I would say that it was not that crowded. We avoided all the parks that had EMH and we were ok... the only park that was that busy was AK on Monday. It was really hot though, hotter than thought it would be.

I'm kind of surprised to see that it was busy at the AK on Monday! I thought people would wait till the next day (Tuesday) for AK's evening EH's and that day would be the busiest.?? Just when I think I've got things all planned out for the best park on a certain day, I hear news like this, and then I'm all confused again!!! :confused3
Anyways, I am thankful for your information! :flower:
