1) What room did you stay in?
We had 4 rooms. 7219 & 7220 connected as well as 7221 & 7222 connected. These are second floor, North Wing rooms. Lake/pool view, though we didn't pay for the preferred view.
2) Do you have any room suggestions....what floor, location in the wing?, etc
I guess first floor would be nice, (patios), but second was fine for us. The wing I guess is laid out like an upside down "U" with a "T" on top of it. We were partway up the T, lol, close to the elevator, not a long walk from the main building.
3) Did you get the refillable mugs?
No refillable mugs for us. Some people in our party had them. We aren't real big soda drinkers, plus, you always have to take the mugs back to the room unless you want to lug them around all day. I kept telling my sister to just hide hers in the bushes outside the Food n' Fun Center so she wouldn't have to take them back to the room.
4) Were you treated differently because you were SOG ressie?
No difference in treatment than non-SOG guests.
5) I am not thrilled about those horrid bright colors......did they bother you?
Nope.
6) Did you put your purchases in the parks on a room key? If so, was everything accurate at checkout?
We used room key for most everything. Went to desk the night before check out to review the bill, everything was accurate.
7) Was housekeeping thorough? SOG has a fantastic staff and I heard someone else say the move to CR was not up to par.
Housekeeping was great.
8) Were you disappointed by the change in atmosphere between the 2 resorts? I prefer the quiet of SOG, but like the idea of monorail. Did you find this feature a plus worth losing the tranquility?
Location of resort and availability of monorail more than makes up for anything you may miss at SOG. Our room location was very quiet. Occasionally you would hear people running in the halls, but that's about it. Very quiet.
9) Did you use the laundry facilities? If so, was there enough machines to accomodate such a large hotel? Did you have problems finding machines available?
I didn't do laundry, but others in our party did. Plenty of machines available but some dryers just don't dry very well. One person in our group ended up spending $10 for one load because the dryer had to be run over and over. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, however, and she didn't think to try another machine.
10) Did your room smell like smoke? I know SOG is smokefree, but they have balconies you can go onto and close the glass door to the room so you can smoke, but with CR not having those balconies I am worried those on uppper floors will just open the glass door and smoke anyway. This is just a concern since my son has asthma.
My son is sensitive to smoke. He had no problem and we couldn't smell evidence that anyone had smoked in the room.
11) Did you find any extra special touches staying there as opposed to SOG? Everyone harps about losing that "Disney" touch by staying at SOG, but I have never stayed at a Disney resort. WHat is your feelings about this now that you have stayed at CR? Personally I think the only bonuses would be charges on room key, the monorail and maybe the refillable mugs (if we even bother). Other than that, I always felt SOG did a superb job of customer satisfaction. IS there anything other than this that CR provided for you that SOG didn't, to give it that "Disney" touch?
We've done many Disney resorts and SOG. You definitely get more of a "Disney" feel by staying at CR. If you've never tried a Disney resort, and experienced the 'magic', you'll find out when you get there. You will find that having the Monorail is a HUGE, HUGE bonus. The recreation options are another giant benefit of CR over SOG. Pool slide, boats, etc.
12) What time did you check-in and was the room ready?
Checked in at 8:00 am....Rooms were ready by 3:00.
13) Did check-in take a long time?
No.
14) WOULD YOU STAY THERE AGAIN?
Yes.
