I just got home from a wonderful 10 day trip to WDW & US.

Thanks to the information I got from everyone here, we made reservations with Mears Transportation to take us to US a couple of days while we were there...Which was great.:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

But something happened the morning we were waiting for the Mears shuttle. We (My adult DS and I) were in front of ASMu with about 7 or 8 others guests waiting to go to US and Sea World and a white van drove up about 10 minutes before the time we were told when we made the ressie and the driver got out and said "Sea World, US etc." We asked are you from Mears? and he said yes....then he asked if we had already paid or not? Most said they had not so he said okay pay me now....We all started going to his van, not knowing any different and a cab driver from Mears ran up telling us...."DO NOT GO WITH HIM...he is NOT from Mears". :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:
After the Mears cab driver said that the man turned and got in his van and drove off without another word...If that cab driver had not warned us we probably would have paid him for a round trip and probably never seen him again, and who knows if we would have ended up where we wanted to go anyway!:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

So if you are going to use Mears...be sure that the bus or van has "MEARS" written on it. After that we realized that ALL Mears vans or buses had their name all over it...Just wanted to save you a bad experience!
The Mears service was great by the way...I will use them again anytime I need a shuttle!:dance3:

If you didn't do it while you were there You need to call Disney and ASMU and report this to Disney immediately. I'm sure they don't want that happening to their guests on their property! He had to have went past the security person at the gate house so he had to have lied to them there to get on property. Thank goodness that a Mears guy was there.

>>> Are you from Mears?
Don't ask a yes-no question. Yes, you should ask if you have any doubts, but ask a question that requires that he come up with an answer off' the top of his head.

>>> white van
Some Mears vehicles, notably buses, are plain white, but they have "Mears" in small print on the side.

This is a *VERY* good warning. There are a lot of shady transportation people out there... as Edd I'm sure will tell you, they bring a bad reputation to the many honest, and good guys out there.

Mears operates many brand names of transportation... Mears Motorcoaches, City Cab, Yellow Cab, Safety Cab, and Checker Cab. Different names, but all the same. Yellow Cab is authorized to pick up at the airport, and Checker Cab is authorized to pick up at Disney.

Mears also operates a lot of unmarked vans and towncars. The only Mears marking on them is the Mears plate on the front of the vehicle.

You can also recognize a Mears driver because they are required to always wear thier Mears ID and have it visible at all times.
