Hi....my name is BostonChowdah....and I'm a newbie...
*Hi Chowdah*

Ok...so let me give ya the run-down....
There were about 11 adults and 4 kids...all of which stayed both on site (all 3 resort levels) and off site (vacation home)....
Each location had it's advantages and disadvantages...neither of which I can spell (I think I got it right though)...anyways...were not first timers to the area...rarely did we do the "disney death march" or rush around. We had enough time to visit all the parks at our own pace, (we were there for a month) and spent alot of time hanging aorund the resorts.

1)Mugs...yes I know you love this topic...one of the biggest questions I had was the fact that we were going to stay at almost a half-dozen resorts....and would we have to buy new mugs. I called a few days before to ask this question...she didn't really help me...and I was given the impression that I would have to buy mugs at each resort :sad2: . Anyways, upon arrival I spoke to one of the CMs at the BCV and she said to use the same mug... and that she thought it would be foolish for us to buy new mugs at every resort (can you imagine what they would say if they searched my luggage on the way back :rolleyes1 .....something tells me that 30-something mugs in a luggage bag may look a little sketchy!) So we used the same mugs...with exception to out stay at the WL...we bought new ones...but thats becasue we liked the way the WL ones looked. In case anyone approached us about using different mugs...my Fiance and his brothers made a list of what to do...

*straight of the paper*
In case you are approached by the mug mob...please follow these instructions:
Smile...continue filling your mug...look around....spot someone filling the wrong mug too....spark up a conversation with them..."Did you enjoy your stay at _______? How do you like it compared to this resort?" Quickly walk away...you have just successfully set someone else up...mission complete...
If caught:
Walk over to the nearest register...purchase one mug...return to fountain...stand their...smile at CM...fill mug...dump mug into other resort mug....fill mug again...dump into another resort mug...continue until all mugs are full...walk away...say under your breath: "who's the smart **** now?"...
To Prevent getting caught:
Send up the cutest kid in the group...no CM will say no to little Suzie and her blonde pig-tails....if your traveling without kids...your basically screwed...but keeping George in your back pocket may help out...have a Lincoln on hand just in case it's a manager that spots you.

As I told you...we had lots of down time...maybe a little too much :bored: . The mug mob never came after us...we were cautious...and made sure that we didn't abuse the privledge...we always used a disney mug...some people used other random mugs...even a universal mug! :confused3
2) Transportation...VRROOOMMM....ok...I was pleasantly suprised with how efficent the bus service was. In the past I never thought it to be bad...but some others have complained. I never waited more than 10mins for a bus...of course it was longer when we were leaving at park closing times...but thats expected! Even service at the values was pretty good. The one complaint I have is that there is no Bus Stop structure at these resorts...and it's a pian waiting for buses. Also that the buses fill up fast!
I still feel that disney needs a better form of transportation for traveling from resort to resort. We had reservations at Ohana's, Chef Mickey's, and Cape May cafe for the character breakfasts. We drove our car, but several families arrived late due to the bus service, not because buses was late, but because they underestimated the time it would take to get there.
Waiting for the buses can be fun...simple games like catch phrase or bringing zip zaps...make the wait go by a lot faster...and can include everyone at the bus stop. This game comes in handy waiting for fantasmic and parades as well. Nothing beats a 25 person game of catch phrase! The games took the stress off waiting for buses and shows to start, and they conviently fit in your favorite fanny-pack!
3) Know what to expect....people sometmes go into disney vacations with extremely high expectations...yes we expect a lot for our money...and yes...it is a lot of money....but disney can't meet everyones needs.
I take choosing a resort for my group pretty seriously...I factor in how much time were going to stay there...and what everyone is looking for (pool, location, etc). If what we want isn't in our budget to stay in the parks...then we'll stay off in a villa or home...or post pone our trip and save some more.
Read reviews and look at pictures...I think choosing the resort is an important part of any dsney vacation!

P.S. I think Disney should introduce a resort wide mug system...meaning that GF had the same mug as CBR...possibly a mug that read something like "22 resorts, 1 world"...with each of the resorts logo on it.

Welcome to the DisBoards Bostonchowdah. Loved your mini-report. Sounds like you had a ball. It must have been some kind of experience with all those people. Looking forward to a more in depth report.

Thanks for your report! You should consider doing a trip report...I have a sneaking suspicion it would be very entertaining!

Bostonchowdah -

Loved the definitions at the bottom of your post.

Don't forget - in Mass. we also refer to traffic lights as "set-a-lites." As in, take a left at the "set-a-lites."

Did your family refer to lunch as "dinna" and dinner as "suppah"??? Mine did.

And last, but definitely not least (as it is one of my all-time favorites)...the yummy treat known as the "chocklit-cuv-id." What do you want for dessert? A hoodsie? Sherbet? Or a nice, chocklit-cuv-id?

Glad you had a "wicked good" trip!

Good ole Boston talk...Hey BostonChowdah..while you were driving around Disney and Florida, didn't you wonder how they survive without rotaries??

Wicked good report Chowdah and welcome to the DIS.

You're definitions made me sooooo homesick. I've haven't been back to Beantown since......

The parade for the World Champion Boston Red Sox !!!!

Finally Talking....I wish you didn't mention a choclit cov-id, because now I want one !!!!!

 Glad to see there are fellow Chowdah heads on these boards...

Sadly...I was the only Chowdah head on my vacation :worried: .... Since I went with my fiance and his family as well as friends here in NC...I was the only one bummed about the lack of rotaries in the Orlando area...or who even knew what they were...
I commonly asked "whats for suppah"...and got many strange looks from those who could hear me...and noticed that I tend to talk a little too fast for some folks as well..."Where we metting for the show"....was comprehended as..."Where can I eat the snow"....and then they all laughed becasue obviously there was no snow in Florida!
I learned that a "packie" isn't the same in Mass, a liquor store, and it is in FL, a UPS store....but that one took me 30mins and a half a tank of gas to figure out....

I look forward to writing the trip report...

mmmm.....chocklit-cuv-ids....I used to be able to take a right at the set-a-lights and they would have them at this wicked good bakery, but now I have to take the green line to the red line...then back to the orange line...then walk a block to find some good ones...its such a pissah...

Very entertaining mini-report! Welcome to the boards:)

I love the Catch phrase idea while waiting :Pinkbounc!! I love that game. Thanks!

Bostonchowdah you are SOOOOO bringing me home. I now live in CT (not too far away) but I still skipped a beat when someone from home asked me how I liked "haatfud".

Can't wait til opening day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should definitely write a trip report. You have a flair! Am interested in learning which resorts you stayed at and how they were. We are looking at staying in a moderate next trip and I just can't make up my mind. We have a 5 and a 2 yr old. I think they might like the pool at POFQ but the rest of the atmosphere I think would be lost on them. The other resort we're considering is CBR.

Well, have a great day! LOL on the bubblah!

Nice job on the mini report BostonChowdah! I'd love to see what a full review would be like from you! BTW, it amazes me to hear all of the different accents from New Englanders! Boston people have their own way as well as people from Maine. I'm afraid to admit what Vermonters sound like at times. I think they call it "redneck" :teeth: Glad you had a good time. Thanks for the report

And don't forget.....frappes have ice cream, milk shakes don't. :drinking1

why can't they understand this at Beaches and Cream, after all it is supposed to be a "New England" theme :p

I too find the New England accents amusing! To be honest I never knew I had one! I went to public school in Boston...and all of my family and friends talked like me...so I just assumed it was the way you were supposed to talk! Even in the first grade we were taught "ah" not "R"!

I'm working on the trip report now...I'm hoping to have the "pre-trip" part up by tonight...I think its going to be titled....
"Disney World...Chowdah style"....Pretty catchy eh?

Thanks for all the comments...

PS...
ms.ojo...my SIL had her 4 kids with her....her daughter, who just turned five...and her twin 2yo boys...they stayed at CBR...keep an eye out for my trip report...I'll give good resort reviews....pinky swear! I would answer your question now...but my dog is practically putting a whole in the door...he must have to go bad...poor pup...might have been the easy cheese the guys feed him...

Okay I bite... what's a chocklit-cuv-ids? I'm a midwestern girl born and raised and your strange words easily confuse simple folk such as myself :rolleyes1

Did you play hockey? DS's coach has a sweet daughter that plays, she is such a cutie but tough! Ya gotta respect that! :cheer2:

Another Bostonian here - chocklit-cuv-ids - is Chocolate Covered Ice Cream Bar - like Mickey Ears.

please let me know when your TR is done
sounds like you had a ball

:rotfl2:
It's always nice for other people from around the country to see that the Boston accent is not a stereotype! Let us know when your wicked awesome trip report is done!!
