Just back from 7 days at BWI.
The Good:
* Food and Wine was great. Everything we tried was fantastic.
* I miss the statues, but the 'chair guys' in France were incredible.
* Ohana - unbelievably good. Our secret is no longer a secret, however.
* Boma - the deep fried Oreos are now legend around our house.
* The peanut butter and jelly shake at 50s Prime Time. Oh. My. God.
* MNSSHP - what a blast. Even if I ran inside to grab a drink and missed the headless horseman. ;-) No lines for any attractions on this night.
* Do NOT miss the gravediggers in the MNSSHP parade.
* Hallowishes - very nice.
* Joining DVC. (Ahem. Grin.)

The (sort of but not really) Bad:
* We found the crowds to be substantially heavier than we're used to at this time of year in every park. We're not talking horrendous, but 50-60 minute waits were everywhere. Longer for some attractions (Soarin') than others. I generally don't like to fastpass, but it was necessary.
* EMH at the MK - ridiculously crowded at night.
* It wasn't hot, but the humidity was crushing.
* The fire barge in Illuminations is still awol. (It didn't affect the show that much though.)

The Ugly:
* The Disney Dining package makes getting drinks and snacks a pain in the neck. People are continually checking how many snacks they have left, etc. Plus it was next to impossible to walk in anywhere. (Next to impossible, but not impossible. We got 50s Prime Time on 9/30 with only a two hour wait.) We had ADRs all week, but it left no wiggle room for any deviation from the plan. If I had my DisneySnob(tm) hat on, I was annoyed by the Dining Plan. That said, it seems like a great deal and a home run for Disney.
* Getting hit up to join Amway on the buses. (Big Amway convention going on when we were there.) Actually, it wasn't that annoying, just... Not Disney.
* Hitting the ESPN Club and watching the Sox, Pats and Bruins all lose. Ugh. (There was one nice victory against the Yankees, however.)

Over all - a great trip. Met a ton of great people, had nothing but great CMs, and can't wait to go back. Again.

Can I just ask....peanut butter & jelly milkshake???? what is it like? We have an ADR there and everyone says "you have to try the milkshakes"
Oh and I also have to cry with you about the Pats & the Red Sox!! Hope those Yankees lose BIG!!!
Glad you had fun...we are off in 3 weeks!!

What happened to the fire barge?

I forget the exact story, but I believe it was damaged during a daytime burn-off of the excess fuel a couple of weeks back.

There's an article on www.************* that says it blew up about a month ago...literally exploded I think. I'm not a premium member though, so I can't see the video they have of it.

Absolutely. It tastes sort of like a vanilla shake with ribbons of peanut butter in it, and highlights of jelly. The jelly wasn't overwhelming. It was more sweet than grape tasting.
I was looking at the menu and thinking, "chocolate." But then I figured, "why not try something I can't readily get back home?"
Am I ever glad I did. It was the best shake I've ever had anywhere. It's that good.
Oh, and they are VERY filling.

ChefBilly,
We just returned from 9/30-10/4 and I would describe our experience exactly as you did. (except we didn't join DVC, at least not yet!) We usually go after thanksgiving, but our kids are out this week so decided to not have to pull them out of school. I think we will go back to our early dec trips. I was amazed at the no "wiggle room" with PS. I made them at non peak times, but was still waiting 20-30 min. Guess it was due to the dining package. Anyway I loved your comments and second all of them!

Suzanne

The humidity last week was just awful - I think we took 3 showers a day!
I'm going through withdrawal from the desserts at Boma -my new favorite restaurant!

We also loved the chair guys in France. My dd still tells everyone how a "regular" guy in the audience was just able to climb those chairs like that. I just love that she is still young enough to believe in the fantasy.

Fantasy? What do you mean? Was that same guy there again? He's there every time I do to WDW too-is that coincidence or what? Tell your DD that I think he's pretty amazing too!
