Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

You can squeeze a whole day into one chapter? This is turning into the "we ate, we swam, we drank and we slept" TR. Just kidding.

Yes, I'm still around. It's my busiest time of the year at work. I am keeping up with most of the TR's. Just haven't had a chance to really comment. Talk to you again in a couple of days, possibly. :lmao: Off to a meeting now.

Thank you for asking, our trip was fantastic!! And I'm not feeling better yet, but I'm very optimistic that I've hit the worst.
Can't wait to see the Aulani pics, but you know.... Aulani or not, this whole TR is a great read!! I really feel like I'm right there with you all! I also love that your family is adventurous and you are taking advantage of every minute you're there!!

Thanks for bringing us along!

Howdy Pkondz and everyone else! Long time, no talk or write I should say. The great news is that now your fears that I fell in Seven Seas Lagoon can be laid to rest. I know, quite the load off! ;)

Welcome back! Not that I wanted you to go for an unexpected dip in amoebaville... but it would make for an interesting anecdote.

We had a great trip that began with the most amazing pixie dust I have ever experienced. At check-in we were upgraded to club level at the WL, apparently because my birthday was noted on the reservation! I was completely taken aback! It was a great surprise!

Awesome! And I don't mean that in a teen-I-found-a-penny kind of awesome.

So I did find myself thinking of you and Nebo, as well as other posters, quite frequently.

Well I can't speak for Nebo, but of course you were thinking of me. I'm quite unforgettable, am I not?

Kind of like that persistent itch that you can't get rid of...

There are a few instances that I will tell you about specifically that made me think particularly of one of the two of you depending on what happened or what was said.

Looking forward to that! :)

I've missed you guys!! ;)

And we missed you too! Sorry to hear that you got sick both during and afterwards. Hope you're feeling better now.

Whew! I am caught up, Hallelujah! ;)

Pkondz, I have to agree with you on the shave ice versus sno-cone, slurpee, etc debate. I haven't been to Hawaii, so I haven't experienced the upper echelon of shaved ice, but I have had really good shaved ice before and it's the smoothness of the ice, it literally melts instantly. The granular substance of a sno-cone/slurpee makes for a completely different taste experience.

At last! Someone who understands. Please excuse me for a minute, I'm a little verklempt...

I love all of the activities you and the girls are doing in Hawaii! Your TR is a real treat Pkondz, of the shaved ice variety! ;)

Thanks! It's going to start tailing off though now.

And did I miss Marita's story?

No!:headache: She still hasn't shared!!

well i thought the luau was the best part and "the breath of life, ha" was amazing! I thought the pig was good to:goodvibes

Just to clarify... the show was called "Ha, Breath of Life"
Elle wasn't laughing.

Yes the show was really good. I know you liked the pig... It wasn't bad. But it definitely wasn't what was cooked that afternoon.

I know! This is turning into a cookie cutter TR after all! We'll just have to do something about that!

Yes, I'm still around. It's my busiest time of the year at work. I am keeping up with most of the TR's. Just haven't had a chance to really comment. Talk to you again in a couple of days, possibly. :lmao: Off to a meeting now.

Gotta admit I was wondering where you'd disappeared to. Glad to see you're still alive and kicking.

Gee, I hope the worst is behind you now. Get well soon!

Glad you're enjoying the TR. My family is fairly adventurous... well maybe not Ruby so much... but the rest of us are! :goodvibes

Hey Ponzi! Got another recipe for you. I've made these before and loved them, but I took them to a family cookout last weekend and they were a huge hit. Though of your TR of course.

Cookie Dough Brownies

One box of your fave Brownie mix

Prepare according to package directions. Bake in a 9x13 glass pan. Once brownies are baked, put them into the fridge to cool. If you're in a hurry, the freezer works too.

You can of course make the brownies from scratch if you like. I don't.;)

While brownies are cooling make the cookie dough

3/4 cup salted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup granulated white sugar
3 Tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup semisweet chips + 1 teaspoon shortening for drizzle, optional

In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to combine butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix in milk and vanilla. Mix in flour just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread cookie dough over the cooled brownies. Refrigerate until the dough is quite firm. It's okay to speed up the process and place it in the freezer too. The firmer the dough, the easier it will be to cut into neat squares. Use a sharp knife to cut the brownies. You may need to wipe the knife off with a paper towel in between cuts since the fudgy brownies and cookie dough will tend to stick to the knife a bit. These brownies are best to serve placed inside cupcake papers and served with a fork.

If you'd like to add chocolate drizzle on top, melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of shortening in the microwave; stir until smooth. Scoop the melted chocolate into a zip baggie and snip off the corner. Squeeze the bag to drizzle the chocolate on top of each brownie. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top, if desired.

I don't usually do the drizzle since the brownie/cookies are plenty sweet. Full disclosure, I got the recipe from Pinterest, but they're amazing!

Enjoy!

Hey Ponzi! Got another recipe for you.

Thanks Shanelopy. Quick question, you don't bake it again with the cookie dough on it? i.e. it's raw cookie dough on top? If it is... Ruby's gonna be your new bff.

I don't think I've ever baked cookies without her trying to steal the uncooked dough.

I was wondering that, too. no cooking the cookie dough? but I see there are no eggs in the dough.

I noticed that too. Heck. I looked for just that!

Ahem, sorry I obviously meant to address you as Mr. Pkondz Sir.

Nope, don't bake once you add the cookie dough. It's eggless so that no one will get sick. (my nephew has a recently discovered egg allergy and his parents are now calling him 'eggless')

Cookie dough is my favorite part of the cookie too :goodvibes

I have another recipe that's similar. Make the dough, roll into balls and freeze. Take the frozen balls of dough and dip them into melted chocolate. Put back into fridge to set up. Cookie dough truffles!!

My cousin who's house I took the dough/brownies to this weekend called me tonight. She needed the recipe because she'd hidden the brownies from her children and they were starting to get angry.:lmao: I hope that you guys (especially my new BFF Ruby :goodvibes) enjoy them!

Hi Shanalicious! You don't have to address me as Mr. Pkondz Sir. Just Pkondz Sir and afterwards, just Sir would be fine.

Kidding! Kidding! Ow! Stop pelting me with frozen cookie dough! I can only catch so many in my mouth at once! Mmmfff!.... mmmmm.... cookie dough...

Good thing it's your nephew and not a niece that's being called 'eggless'!

Thanks again for the recipe! Can't wait to give it a try.:goodvibes

BTW, I will read your TR some day... I'm so swamped right now that I can't get to it. But I will... I will....

Pkondz, now it's your turn for the Buzz babblings that relate to you. I'm going to warn you that the main "happening" that made me think of you isn't as out loud funny as the Nebo one, it's more of a :headache:. I think I can explain why it made me think of you though so here goes.

I thought of you every single time we were at the WL dock waiting on the boat to MK. Yes, without fail, when we were waiting in line I would find myself gazing out at the water, thinking how would I make certain I didn't ingest a brain eating amoeba if, heaven forbid, the kids fell in or I fell in. Clearly DH would be on his own! ;) I remember joking to DH that it would be my luck to survive a fiery boat explosion only to perish later from a brain eating amoeba. So thanks for those thoughts Pkondz, they were well planted.:sad2:

I thought of you when the kids and I went shopping in the Canadian pavilion in WS. DD really wanted a Christmas ornament with a large moose on it saying "Merry Christmas, eh" but I wanted to wait to buy it until later in the trip. Sadly, when we went back, they had replaced the ornaments with hats. I wanted a Wunderbar badly and completely forgot to get it the 2nd time through. :sad1:

I thought of you when we drove to AKL to look around and went inside "The Mara" and saw zebra domes. Oh yes, I was trying to work out in my head the possibility of bartering zebra domes for Wunderbars.

But most of all I thought of you during an encounter at Animal Kingdom that would literally become the family's "inside joke" for the entire trip. Ironically, the event happened the very same day as the "gettchie goo" incident. It was a Nebo/Pkondz thought bonanza day!

Let me start by saying there were a large number of marching band tour groups in WDW during our stay. We were walking out of Harambe Village toward Asia when I heard it uttered with the accompaniment of girly laughter within one of the tour groups.... the phrase that would forever solidify my confidence that the future of the world would be safe in the capable vocabulary of today's youth..... "Oh Stacy, you are so unpatient waiting in lines!". Yes, there are just some words or phrases that instantly hit you, much like the sensory impact of fingernails on a chalkboard. Unpatient. I must say that I shuddered because sometimes a word can just sound so wrong.

I started laughing then and teased DH a little and then I paused, drew seven year old DS to the side and gave him a quick grammar lesson on the word impatient or even not patient, but never unpatient!. He caught on and everyone, including four year old DD, began using the word "unpatient" throughout the trip anytime we were joking around! ;)

I thought of you immediately upon hearing the word because you are a great wordsmith and I knew you would appreciate my reaction.

Please note that Elle, Kay, I pray to goodness my own children, and many other children/young adults of today are well developing examples of a bright wordy word future, but sadly there are others that are a little less bright.....:sad2:

Got it Captain Pkondz. ::yes::

No worries! I'd love to see you over there, but I understand! :goodvibes

Real quick post to let ya'll (I feel so southern when I say that) know that I haven't fallen off the Earth. We've got Elle's dance team coming over today for an end of season wrap party (expecting 20-40 people) and I'm a tad busy.

Shout outs later and probably an abbreviated chapter by Saturday night.

So try and not be unpatient.

Good luck with the party! You are a brave soul Pkondz!

Try to keep the unpatience at bay! ;) :rotfl2:

I don't know how you do it! I am totally oblivious to everyone around us when in the parks. It takes eveything I've got to get us where we want to go or make sure youngest DGD isn't running off or DD didn't stop in that last store. Some day I'll relax and listen, but by that time won't hear anything over the buzz of the engine of my scooter!
I know lots of people who get stomach viruses while at WDW. Maybe it's a bug that just lives there and preys on unsuspecting WDW tourists.
I hope you enjoyed your trip despite all the bugs you caught.

I don't always pick up on what's going on around me, that's for sure! At times the kids can give me a run for my money on keeping up with them. I love people though and I think we are all fascinating in some form or fashion and when so many people are in one place there just seem to be limitless possibilities for entertainment! ;)

And I can't imagine you ever needing a scooter! You stay so busy!! ;)

Yep, our luck sure did run out on the stomach virus front. I'm hopeful that it was a blip on our track record though. We are really good about washing hands with soap and water every few rides, but with kids you can only do so much. We came home to SC and the stomach bug is around our area as well. The kids were at vacation bible school this past week and a lot of kids were sick with the bug.

It's meningitus, but it's still not as bad as if you don't peel the ,,,,,,,,

I thought of you immediately upon hearing the word because you are a great wordsmith and I knew you would appreciate my reaction.

Did you read the above quote I included?
You are calling a man who uses the word, Shanalicious, a great wordsmith!
Excuse my while I go and yell some of my own words into the circular porcelan recorder.

I hope you enjoyed your trip despite of all the bugs you caught.

there was a time when Disney seemed so magical to me, that I never got sick there,,, and even my allergies cleared up while down there,,, heck,,, for being in Florida,,, I never got a skeeter bite.
Then in '07 at Gatorland,,, something flew into me and took off with a hunk of my forehead,,, and it's never been the same since then. Now it seems that every trip report or comments I read from folks just back,,,, they ALL are or were, fighting off some kind of crud or another. Wonder whyy the change, probably just coincidence.

Well....

For those of you who might be wondering...

The party was a HUGE success... all thanks to Ruby and Elle who did 99% of the work.

There won't be a chapter tonight after all... because with all this talk of stomach virus... guess who was up all night becoming intimately acquainted with a certain porcelain household fixture. :sad2:
