Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

Is it just me? Or does anybody else think Ponzi and Nebo are long lost brothers? I don't have Photoshop on my work computer, but I was able to put this together real quick. Show of hands on who says they're actually brothers. :rotfl: Pay particular attention to the hat and mustache. That's why they each have the same sense of humor and are so good at writing TR's. And I apologize in advance if you spit coffee, tea or whatever it is your drinking, all over your monitor.

sing along time!
Meet Nebo who's tripped most everywhere, from Indies stage show to Main Street' town square.
But Ponzi's only seen the sights a guy can see from horse back rides!
What a wild pair!

But they're dissers! Semi Identical dissers
One pair of matching bookends, different as nigh and day.

Where Nebo just loves his "little friends" with a sunny d with vodka in,
Our ponzi like to make us laugh and roll and z domes make him loose control,
What a wild duet!
Still they're Dissssserrrrss similar dissers and you'll find, they post a like they joke alike at times they even look alike

You'll laugh all the time!
When Disserrrrrss, are two of a kindddddddd!

25 bonus points if you can name the show that one came from...

OK...Finally was able to finish this after 2 days of working on it while also trying to "work"...And then you go and try to sneak out of it because Nebo has a report? I don't think so buddy!

It was Monday April 16.

We are off to a good start…We know the day of the week and the actual date…Of course with all my knowledge of movies and especially scary movies…This seems a little ominous to me…

This means 3 things:

1. It’s my DDad’s Birthday… and I’m missing it ‘cause I’m in Hawaii. Well, he missed Elle’s birthday ‘cause he was on a Panama cruise so that makes us even… or at least he and Elle are even.

Happy Birthday Ponzi’s Dad!

2. This is Ruby’s first day at the conference, so it’s just me and the DDs. Ruby’s idea of action and adventure is shopping. Mine’s not. So while the cat’s away the mice shall play!

I like Ruby already…That’s an adventure. Have you ever walked into a random store and found the perfect pair of shoes on sale? Or gone through a flea market and found that great straw hat that was just calling out your name? oh…I guess not. The hats probably don’t know your name either…”Steve” D’oh!

3. I’m not good at math when I’m tired… read on.

I had looked at going for a boat ride and had settled on one that left from the North Shore.

Oahu has four distinct areas. The city… that’s Honolulu, it takes up most of the south side of Oahu and all your money. The Windward side, aka the East side, where the wind comes from... and the rain. The Leeward side, opposite the Windward side, aka the West side. And the North Shore, 'cause, really, that's all that's left.

Now that I know where we are. Let’s get this road on the show!

On the boat ride website, it recommends taking the first trip of the day to take advantage of calmer seas and to take Dramamine if prone to motion sickness. Well, Kay sometimes gets a little car sick, but I think she’ll be fine. The ride is only two hours so even if she does get sick, it’ll be over soon.

OK…Now you know that some idiot who was very prone to motion sickness got on one of these “boat rides” and got crazy sick and tried to sue this company later because they had no clue that just because they were prone to motion sickness that they would get sick on a boat in the middle of the water, while the waves moved the boat back and forth and back and forth…I mean seriously, This company needs to let people know that since they are going on a “boat ride” that will mean there will be a boat, and the boat usually moves on water, and water moves…

Although I have to say, its good to know you have Kay’s best interest at heart there…I mean, if she gets sick, at least she will only have to deal with it a couple of hours. No biggie.

The North Shore is about an hour’s drive north of Honolulu. Our tour starts at 6:30 in the morning (!) and we have to be there 30 minutes early. So let’s see, we have to be there at 6am which means we have to leave the hotel no later than 5am, add 15 minutes or so to gather everything up and get to the hotel parkade, add another 30 – 45 minutes to get up and get dressed, etc…

I set the alarm for 4:45 and fall instantly asleep.

Anybody do the math? No? I gave the three of us 15 minutes to get up, get dressed, get ready, get our stuff and get going. !!!

The alarm goes off at 4:45 and I immediately realise that we have to be in the car and on the road in about TEN FREAKING MINUTES!!!! Get up! Get up! Get up! We’ve gotta go now! I screwed up the alarm time! Go! Go! Go! Batten down the hatches! Man the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!!! (Boat ride, remember?)

frantic.gif

We get to Haleiwa on time and pull up to the pier only a minute or so late. Phew! I see a few other people mingling around so I know I’m in the right spot. I didn’t take a picture of the boat, but it’s 32 feet long.

Did it look like this?

Or more like this?

There’s the… I feel foolish writing ‘captain’ or ‘skipper’ for such a small boat, but I have no idea what else to call him, so… There’s the skipper and his first mate, there’s a couple from Australia (long way to come… maybe they’re millionaires) and their two kids. Umm… my Gilligan’s Island theme is starting to sink already.

…

…The professor and MaryAnn…Here on…Oh…sorry…where was i?

2 crew, a family of four from Australia, a couple from Germany, a father and son, a dude with a big fancy underwater camera and us. I think. I don’t remember for sure. Okay? Sheesh.

You don’t remember if you were there for sure? Is this like one of those weird out of body experiences?
dying.gif

What I do remember is that at the start of the tour, the first mate showed us where the life raft was… and that there was only enough room in it for four people. The rest would have to be in the water and hang on to the sides.

Ahh…so it was more like this…

We head out to open sea, this was the view:
sharkpano.jpg

Beautiful!

We go a couple of miles out to sea and arrive at our stopping point. After a few seconds, I spot this in the water:
P1000068.jpg

Eeeek!

I’ve always had a fascination with sharks, though. Even before Jaws was invented. They’re actually beautiful animals. Perfectly designed for what they do… I just don’t want to be the one they’re doing it to.

They probably wouldn’t do what they do if they weren’t designed to do it…right? They still scare the living day lights out of me.

So of course, we did what anyone would do when there’s a seven foot shark around.

We went in the water.

Of course!

Did I not mention that the tour was a shark cage tour? Must’ve slipped my mind.

As scary as that sounds and as frightened as I would be…I almost thing that is something that would be on my bucket list…You know…AFTER i kick the bucket maybe…but still on there.

While we were waiting our turn, the crew kept us entertained by discussing the various types of sharks we might see and their role in the ecosystem.

Because I’m a nut…I had to go and google sharks just to see what various types, besides of course the obvious, were out there…Geez! Now I’m not sure if I want to get in the water ever again!

It was all I could do to keep Kay from jumping overboard… outside of the cage! She was pumped! (Remember when I said that Kay wanted a black pearl and Elle wanted a pink one? Getting the picture yet? Elle’s a ballet and pink kinda girl… Kay’s more of a hard rock and black kinda chick… I love ‘em both… I’m going to be in so much trouble, soon. :sad2:)

You’re already in trouble Ponzi…They are beautiful now, can you imagine in a few years? It’s just going to get worse as time goes on…

Kay, in the cage:
P1000090.jpg

Brave soul she is.

Kay was the second last out of the cage. That kid amazes me. She won’t speak to the ice cream guy to order a treat… but she’ll swim with sharks no problem! :rotfl:

Smart girl. The ice cream man can possibly be a kidnapper or child predator Hello!

Ah, well. All in all it was a very exciting morning. Don’t the girls look happy?
P1000073.jpg

Nice pic. The girls look wonderful, it’s that guy in the middle that looks a strange…J/K…Although I have to say it may be a little out of focus…we can actually see you!

Is it The Patty Duke Show?? (Can you tell I watched WAAAAAY too much television as a child and young adult? I love old movies and old TV shows.) By the way, I like your new version better than the original!! :thumbsup2

And Ponzi, your cookies look delicious!! They look better than mine. Hope you guys enjoyed them.

A million apologies! Geez I'm a photographer and I didn't credit another shutter bug??? Aaarrrgghhh.... That's what happens when you do shout outs at the end of a 17 hour shift. Bad ponzi! Bad!

Great shot Mrs. T. And with a point & shoot too! Kudos!

I'll forgive you...To be honest, Usually T-man is the photog in the house, but he was busy taking pics with the video camera so I had to man the regular cameras. Not bad if I do say so myself.

On a different note...I can't stop looking at that Panda! :lmao:

The Patty Duke Show!! I used to watch that show on Nick at Nite all the time!

Darn! I read on and saw that I wasn't even close to the 25 points.

Ponzi-those cookies look amazing. I can't wait until I have an oven again so that I can try some of the recipes!

I loved WKRP in Cincinnati back in the 70s, but I haven't seen it since. I have a feeling a lot of the shows we loved in the 70s would not have aged well.

Since I am clearly in violation, here, for not providing a recipe, I'm going to give you one, but It's not for cookies. Calm down, you can make a batch from one of the wonderful recipes already on here and save them for desert. I'll give you the main course. Although this is not what I consider soup season (fall), this is my favorite for anytime:

Olive Garden Soup

1 lb. Spicy Italian Sausage - Crumbled
½ lb. Smoked Bacon - Chopped (4 oz. package real bacon bits)
4 Cups of Water
2 - 14.5 Oz. Cans Chicken Broth
2 Large Russet Potatoes - Cubed
2 Garlic Cloves - Crushed
1 Medium Onion - Chopped
2 Cups Chopped Kale
1 ½ Cups Heavy Whipped Cream
Salt and Pepper To Taste

1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown sausage, breaking into small pieces as you fry it. Drain and set aside.
2. In skillet over medium-high heat, brown bacon. Drain and set aside.
3. Place water, broth, potatoes, garlic, and onion into a pot. Simmer over high heat until potatoes are tender.
4. Add sausage and bacon to the pot. Simmer for 10 minutes.
5. Add kale and cream, salt and pepper; heat through.
You can top each serving with fresh shredded Parmesan.

I use Real Bacon Bits - one pouch. And I buy a bunch of kale and chop it, divide it in thirds and freeze two of the thirds for the next 2 times I make this.

This is so much better than the soup you get in the restaurant.

Ponzi, that last batch of cookies looked wonderful. I have to make sure I printed the recipe.

Sandy Mouse, that recipe sounds delicious! I'm going to run it by my family tonight.
