OK...Finally was able to finish this after 2 days of working on it while also trying to "work"...And then you go and try to sneak out of it because Nebo has a report? I don't think so buddy!
We are off to a good start
We know the day of the week and the actual date
Of course with all my knowledge of movies and especially scary movies
This seems a little ominous to me
This means 3 things:
1. Its my DDads Birthday
and Im missing it cause Im in Hawaii. Well, he missed Elles birthday cause he was on a Panama cruise so that makes us even
or at least he and Elle are even.
Happy Birthday Ponzis Dad!
2. This is Rubys first day at the conference, so its just me and the DDs. Rubys idea of action and adventure is shopping. Mines not. So while the cats away the mice shall play!
I like Ruby already
Thats an adventure. Have you ever walked into a random store and found the perfect pair of shoes on sale? Or gone through a flea market and found that great straw hat that was just calling out your name? oh
I guess not. The hats probably dont know your name either
Steve

Doh!
3. Im not good at math when Im tired
read on.
I had looked at going for a boat ride and had settled on one that left from the North Shore.
Oahu has four distinct areas. The city
thats Honolulu, it takes up most of the south side of Oahu and all your money. The Windward side, aka the East side, where the wind comes from... and the rain. The Leeward side, opposite the Windward side, aka the West side. And the North Shore, 'cause, really, that's all that's left.
Now that I know where we are. Lets get this road on the show!
On the boat ride website, it recommends taking the first trip of the day to take advantage of calmer seas and to take Dramamine if prone to motion sickness. Well, Kay sometimes gets a little car sick, but I think shell be fine. The ride is only two hours so even if she does get sick, itll be over soon.
OK
Now you know that some idiot who was very prone to motion sickness got on one of these boat rides and got crazy sick and tried to sue this company later because they had no clue that just because they were prone to motion sickness that they would get sick on a boat in the middle of the water, while the waves moved the boat back and forth and back and forth
I mean seriously, This company needs to let people know that since they are going on a boat ride that will mean there will be a boat, and the boat usually moves on water, and water moves
Although I have to say, its good to know you have Kays best interest at heart there
I mean, if she gets sick, at least she will only have to deal with it a couple of hours. No biggie.
The North Shore is about an hours drive north of Honolulu. Our tour starts at 6:30 in the morning (!) and we have to be there 30 minutes early. So lets see, we have to be there at 6am which means we have to leave the hotel no later than 5am, add 15 minutes or so to gather everything up and get to the hotel parkade, add another 30 45 minutes to get up and get dressed, etc
I set the alarm for 4:45 and fall instantly asleep.
Anybody do the math? No? I gave the three of us 15 minutes to get up, get dressed, get ready, get our stuff and get going. !!!
The alarm goes off at 4:45 and I immediately realise that we have to be in the car and on the road in about TEN FREAKING MINUTES!!!! Get up! Get up! Get up! Weve gotta go now! I screwed up the alarm time! Go! Go! Go! Batten down the hatches! Man the torpedoes! Full steam ahead!!! (Boat ride, remember?)
We get to Haleiwa on time and pull up to the pier only a minute or so late. Phew! I see a few other people mingling around so I know Im in the right spot. I didnt take a picture of the boat, but its 32 feet long.
Did it look like this?
Or more like this?
Theres the
I feel foolish writing captain or skipper for such a small boat, but I have no idea what else to call him, so
Theres the skipper and his first mate, theres a couple from Australia (long way to come
maybe theyre millionaires) and their two kids. Umm
my Gilligans Island theme is starting to sink already.
The professor and MaryAnn
Here on
Oh
sorry
where was i?
2 crew, a family of four from Australia, a couple from Germany, a father and son, a dude with a big fancy underwater camera and us. I think. I dont remember for sure. Okay? Sheesh.
You dont remember if you were there for sure? Is this like one of those weird out of body experiences?
What I do remember is that at the start of the tour, the first mate showed us where the life raft was
and that there was only enough room in it for four people. The rest would have to be in the water and hang on to the sides.
Ahh
so it was more like this
We head out to open sea, this was the view:
Beautiful!
We go a couple of miles out to sea and arrive at our stopping point. After a few seconds, I spot this in the water:
Eeeek!
Ive always had a fascination with sharks, though. Even before Jaws was invented. Theyre actually beautiful animals. Perfectly designed for what they do
I just dont want to be the one theyre doing it to.
They probably wouldnt do what they do if they werent designed to do it
right? They still scare the living day lights out of me.
So of course, we did what anyone would do when theres a seven foot shark around.
We went in the water.
Of course!
Did I not mention that the tour was a shark cage tour? Mustve slipped my mind.
As scary as that sounds and as frightened as I would be
I almost thing that is something that would be on my bucket list
You know
AFTER i kick the bucket maybe
but still on there.
While we were waiting our turn, the crew kept us entertained by discussing the various types of sharks we might see and their role in the ecosystem.
Because Im a nut
I had to go and google sharks just to see what various types, besides of course the obvious, were out there
Geez! Now Im not sure if I want to get in the water ever again!
It was all I could do to keep Kay from jumping overboard
outside of the cage! She was
pumped! (Remember when I said that Kay wanted a black pearl and Elle wanted a pink one? Getting the picture yet? Elles a ballet and pink kinda girl
Kays more of a hard rock and black kinda chick
I love em both
Im going to be in so much trouble, soon.

)
Youre already in trouble Ponzi
They are beautiful now, can you imagine in a few years? Its just going to get worse as time goes on
Brave soul she is.
Kay was the second last out of the cage. That kid amazes me. She wont speak to the ice cream guy to order a treat
but shell swim with sharks
no problem!
Smart girl. The ice cream man can possibly be a kidnapper or child predator Hello!
Ah, well. All in all it was a very exciting morning. Dont the girls look happy?
Nice pic. The girls look wonderful, its that guy in the middle that looks a strange
J/K
Although I have to say it may be a little out of focus
we can actually see you!
