Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

Sure you take a week off to do some budget work and you fall 20+ pages behind!! I have so much catching up to do!!

I did catch the pic of our friend Mr. P! Pretty much what I pictured you to look like, though I thought all Canadiens wore only stocking hats and parka's like Bob and Doug McKenzie????

Jay

I am so excited I am finally all caught up!!

Hey! It's Jersey Gina! Welcome to the monkey cage... and you brought your own banana too!

I found your TR in your signature while reading Nebos, which I am way behind on,

You're behind on Nebo's? The butler did it! Ooops, did I just ruin it for you?

but anyway, so glad to see that you are doing it and it is as awesome as I thought it would be!!

Thanks!

I had so many comments to make and I kept saying no, I will wait till I get to the end and of course I forgot them by now - so suffice to say I am enjoying this report greatly!!

Okay, but now I'm going to expect a comment on everything I say...

Well???

Love your pictures and your dd's are so pretty, and yes I too thought you were a long lost brother to Nebo...

I'm already starting to regret posting that. But our mother said we should.

Keep up the great writing, but I am worried that between reading your report coupled with Laura's and Nebo's I will get fired from work - because they may actually want me to do some work and I have my priorities!! The perils of working at a nuclear power plant!!

I'm tellin' ya, ya gotta get one of these:
drinkingbird8qp.gif

Oh, wow! Those babies look delish!!! I'm not sure I like how you got us all to give you our cookie recipes only to use them to taunt us with later while we're slaving away at our desks.

Funny, I don't mind at all.

Ponzi! You look so nice. Torturer!!!

Why thank you! Was it my rugged good looks that caused you to swoon?

Cookieless office here too. No fair Ponzi!

What's with all these offices with no cookies? Open up Internet Explorer, click Tools/Options then Enable Cookies... problem solved. :confused3

Oh, why did you have to go and do that! I'm out of Snickerdoodles!

Because I'm evil. Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!
smiley-evil.png

DD#2 is enjoying 2 weeks off from college before summer semester starts, and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to con her into making me cookies, because she wants to enjoy her 2 weeks off. Kids just don't understand that they have obligations to their mothers for years and years of baking cupcakes and gingerbread teddy bears, etc., for them. I tend to ramble on when I'm in the middle of a serious cookie craving.

Oh that's okay. I'm with you 100%. "Dad! Dad! Kay pushed me!" "I did not, she hit me first." .... "Yeah, whatever. Do the dishes."

Actually, my dad was born in Chicago. Not so, his parents though, who gave him the wonderfull name,
Adolph Gustav -------.
During WW2 he served as an MP, on our side, but he abandoned the Adolph name in the army,,
"Just call me Johnny".
Grandparents wanted me to be Adolph Jr.!

Thanks mom for putting your foot down.

Gee and it was just mother's day. I can't for the life of me figure out why your dad would change his name from Adolph to Johnny during WWII. :confused3 Nope, not a clue.

So it looks like I'm more German than you are. Do I win a prize or something?

Nebo! That is too funny!!!! My grandfather's name was Adolph Joseph....also born to German immigrants in Illinois. I have the nose, too, as proof of my German heritage!!! I'm still laughing!

Funny thing about noses. My DDad has what I'd consider a Roman nose. In 1994 or thereabouts, we went for a trip to Germany with my DDad and DMom. The East border had fallen a few years earlier and this was DDad's first chance to go re-visit his old home. Bear in mind that he hadn't been back since he was a kid back in '45 or so. We stop outside his old house and an old man from the next house walks up, takes one look at my DDad and says, "That's a (DDad's last name) nose." :lmao:

I must have missed the memo, but Nebo started another trip report:

Thanks! I'm on my way.

I cannot believe you and your daughters actually swam with the sharks.

It's okay. They were pet sharks.

Incredible. The video was scary enough for me! I could never do that - the old shark at the Aquarium swimming in the tank scares me.

Just a suggestion, but you might not want a 'window' seat at Coral Reef.

Good for Elle, for overcoming her fear, no matter how long she was there, she still did it! I think it's good for you soul to do things outside your comfort zone every once in awhile.

I agree... on both counts. Good for Elle, I'm very proud of her. And yes you've got to do things you normally wouldn't once in a while. I once went sky diving... scared the @#$% out of me. So I did it again, just to prove I could... Same result mind you.

Great chapter, as usual.

Thanks Nancy! BTW, the Death by White Chocolate is really good!

Thank goodness for jury duty, gave me a chance to catch up on this TR. thank goodness I just got pardoned from a 37 day trial!!

Wow! I've never had to do jury duty... probably never will. 37 days sounds like a lot, is that typical?

Well after all this time and all this suspense we finally get the big reveal!!

Yes! It's true! I like cookies! I know, I know, I've shocked a lot of people with that big reveal, but I felt it was time to come clean.

I have to admit tho, with every chapter that went by and the mysterious ponzi didn't appear, your image kept morphing in my mind but I never imagined you looked like Nebo's brother. Nice to meet you!

Now I'm wondering if I should've just left it. I've never been a morph before.

SWIMMING WITH SHARKS!!!! Awesome, in the true sense of the word! I can't believe you got such clear pictures. Between the buffering and the fright my photos would have looked like:chewy:

It was a combination of luck, perseverance and lots of sharks holding still and saying "cheese!".

Thanks all for the cookie recipes, I have to bake for my sons school party so now I just have to choose which ones.

I can recommend every one I've tried.

You better not abandon this trip report, mister!

Thanks for the hug... and the threat! :)

So I have a confession to make. I hopped onto the TR and read this while at work. I literally laughed out loud to myself, I mean loudly and with complete identification because this is my mom exactly! I mean I lost it for a minute or two, it was so funny!! :lmao:

The really sad part is my mom is an excellent cook and baker when she doesn't try to "health it up" or add nuts to everything! DH won't touch anything she drops off until someone else in the family has been the "taste guinea pig". :sad2:

Except my DMIL doesn't try and 'health it up'. :sad2: She's more of a "Just because the milk expired 7 months ago, doesn't mean it's bad. And fat is the best part of the steak." kind of gal.

I really like your sense of humor Pkondz! Thanks for the laugh! :thumbsup2

You're welcome!

Pkondz, the cookies look awesome!!! I am wanting a home made cookie something fierce! :sad2:

There's a cure for that! Go to page 1 post 2. Click a recipe link and ... well you know the rest.

That's right, print it off and get somebody else to bake for you.

What's with all the cookie baking on a Tuesday? Is that a Canadian thing?

Yes it is! We tend to bake any time a day ends with a rhyme for "eh".

You do that and there will be land sharks coming after you... Just saying...

Oh, oh. More threats. Wasn't my ending good enough for you people???

And I will be near your neck of the woods soon even :rolleyes1 Just a word to the wise...

Oh? How near?

And about all the Adolph paranonia, you would have been fine, the bad guy was spelled Adolf. See? Big difference.

Absolutely, and he could've had cards printed out that said - My name is spelled with a "PH"... please don't beat me up.

I agree. I have a hard enough time with dinner and bath for the little one. :(

For the most part, the DDs are pretty self sufficient now. So baking is easily done... along with work... and shopping... and cooking... and driving them to dance... and... etc... etc... etc...

sing along time!
Meet Nebo who's tripped most everywhere, from Indies stage show to Main Street' town square.
But Ponzi's only seen the sights a guy can see from horse back rides!
What a wild pair!

But they're dissers! Semi Identical dissers
One pair of matching bookends, different as nigh and day.

Where Nebo just loves his "little friends" with a sunny d with vodka in,
Our ponzi like to make us laugh and roll and z domes make him loose control,
What a wild duet!
Still they're Dissssserrrrss similar dissers and you'll find, they post a like they joke alike at times they even look alike

You'll laugh all the time!
When Disserrrrrss, are two of a kindddddddd!

25 bonus points if you can name the show that one came from...

I am so glad this was already answered. I don't think that show even aired in Canada. Either way, I never saw it.

More shout outs later.

OK...Finally was able to finish this after 2 days of working on it while also trying to "work"...And then you go and try to sneak out of it because Nebo has a report? I don't think so buddy!
vahidrk1.gif

All right. ALL RIGHT!! I'll give you one more chapter...

We are off to a good start…We know the day of the week and the actual date…Of course with all my knowledge of movies and especially scary movies…This seems a little ominous to me…

A date is ominous? Good thing I didn't include the scary violin music.

I like Ruby already…That’s an adventure. Have you ever walked into a random store and found the perfect pair of shoes on sale? Or gone through a flea market and found that great straw hat that was just calling out your name? oh…I guess not. The hats probably don’t know your name either…”Steve” D’oh!

She might agree with you, except... lately it seems the only shopping she's doing is for the DDs.

OK…Now you know that some idiot who was very prone to motion sickness got on one of these “boat rides” and got crazy sick and tried to sue this company later because they had no clue that just because they were prone to motion sickness that they would get sick on a boat in the middle of the water, while the waves moved the boat back and forth and back and forth…I mean seriously, This company needs to let people know that since they are going on a “boat ride” that will mean there will be a boat, and the boat usually moves on water, and water moves…

Kind of like hairdryers with warnings on them, "Do not use while sleeping."

Although I have to say, its good to know you have Kay’s best interest at heart there…I mean, if she gets sick, at least she will only have to deal with it a couple of hours. No biggie.

Ummm... yeah. That's it. Her best interests. Yeah. It had absolutely nothing to do with not wanting her to puke all over me.

Nope.

Did it look like this?

Or more like this?

Very close. A bit more like this:
kainani.jpg

You don’t remember if you were there for sure? Is this like one of those weird out of body experiences?
dying.gif

:lmao: love that smiley! And it all seems like a dream now, so...

Ahh…so it was more like this…

:lmao: Another good one!

As scary as that sounds and as frightened as I would be…I almost thing that is something that would be on my bucket list…You know…AFTER i kick the bucket maybe…but still on there.

Good news! You can do this WHILE you kick the bucket!

Because I’m a nut…I had to go and google sharks just to see what various types, besides of course the obvious, were out there…Geez! Now I’m not sure if I want to get in the water ever again!

Since you googled. We had two kinds. Mostly Galapagos sharks and one Sandbar shark.

Smart girl. The ice cream man can possibly be a kidnapper or child predator Hello!

I couldn't agree more. The ice cream man is inherently dangerous. I put on weight every time he shows up.

Nice pic. The girls look wonderful, it’s that guy in the middle that looks a strange…J/K…Although I have to say it may be a little out of focus…we can actually see you!

I told the skipper to use the shadow setting on the camera, but he messed up.

And Ponzi, your cookies look delicious!! They look better than mine. Hope you guys enjoyed them.

We did... we are!

I'll forgive you...To be honest, Usually T-man is the photog in the house, but he was busy taking pics with the video camera so I had to man the regular cameras. Not bad if I do say so myself.

They're really good! And you may say so yourself.

On a different note...I can't stop looking at that Panda! :lmao:

He makes me laugh!

Ponzi-those cookies look amazing. I can't wait until I have an oven again so that I can try some of the recipes!

Well I guess you could set them out in the sun and hope for the best...

Since I am clearly in violation, here, for not providing a recipe, I'm going to give you one, but It's not for cookies. Calm down, you can make a batch from one of the wonderful recipes already on here and save them for desert. I'll give you the main course. Although this is not what I consider soup season (fall), this is my favorite for anytime:

Thanks for the recipe. It sounds really good.

Ponzi, that last batch of cookies looked wonderful. I have to make sure I printed the recipe.

And they are good too!

Sure you take a week off to do some budget work and you fall 20+ pages behind!! I have so much catching up to do!!

Well that'll learn you for working instead of doing important things!

I did catch the pic of our friend Mr. P! Pretty much what I pictured you to look like, though I thought all Canadiens wore only stocking hats and parka's like Bob and Doug McKenzie????

Jay

Oh, I normally dress that way... shark ate it though. :confused3

All my back bacon too.

And I will be near your neck of the woods soon even :rolleyes1 Just a word to the wise...

Oh? How near?

I'll be in lovely Great Falls, Montana, mere hours from your fair state

Now, I know I'm dense, heck, ask anybody, but it took me a while to figure out the numbers on your title screen.

20/5

Way down here where the sun DOES shine occasionally,

we put the month first, then the day.
But I'm sure you knew that.

And my camera has about 34 settings to choose from.

No WONDER I'm so confused!

That's a great idea, just so long as my mom is not the cookie baker! I draw the line at wheat flour and a plethora of nuts in my cookies!! :sad2:

So Pkondz, I want to catch you up on the Buzz family plans for Star Wars Weekend. We have a birthday party that we must attend on Saturday morning and we are leaving straight from the party for WDW!

The kicker is that we decided to say "what the heck!" so we are going to stay the week instead of trying to cram everything into a long weekend. DH and I could use a break. I am taking my lap top with us so while the kids/DH nap I might try to pop into the TR some while we are in the World. It may be a little less frequently, as we typically burn both ends of the candle getting up early and staying out late, surviving with an afternoon nap and long mid day break from the parks, hence why Nebo jokes I may fall off the ferry boat. ;)

And no I won't "take one for the team" and purposefully "fall" in Seven Seas Lagoon to definitively ascertain the presence of alligators in the water. Sorry for being a party pooper. ;)

If you or anyone would like me to do something fo you, just let me know. I need to go ahead and preface this with the reminder that I am not a fan of zebra domes! :sad2:

No, I said you'd fall off the wagon!

A week? Are you still going in August? I need to know if I should pack my good socks or not.

Bets, I'm too tired to look tonite... but I'll check it out first thing in the morning.

I'll be in lovely Great Falls, Montana, mere hours from your fair state

That is pretty close! Not quite close enough to meet though... darn.

Now, I know I'm dense, heck, ask anybody, but it took me a while to figure out the numbers on your title screen.

Yup. But as you know... my TR, my rules... until people run amok with it, of course.

And my camera has about 34 settings to choose from.

No WONDER I'm so confused!

I just bought not 1 but 2 new cameras... You're confused!

That's a great idea, just so long as my mom is not the cookie baker! I draw the line at wheat flour and a plethora of nuts in my cookies!! :sad2:

6 bonus points for Buzz for using "plethora" in a sentence.

Nebo already beat me on the best line here.

I'm sorry, did you say you were going to check for poop in the lagoon?

Yes. Have fun. That's all I ever ask. We'll be here when you get back. :)

A week? Are you still going in August? I need to know if I should pack my good socks or not.

Not commenting on Nebo's post so much as laughing because, I read Buzz's plans on Nebo's report first, and it seems that he read about them here first. :lmao:

That is pretty close! Not quite close enough to meet though... darn.

No worries, I slave at Disney World, so I'll be around down here unless I retire or get eaten by a shark before you get down here.

Ponzi, no 37 days is not the norm (or even the cliff). It's probably some pretty big, complicated case as the jury selection was going to be in 3 stages over the course of 2 weeks. I'm sort of sorry that I am not able to commit to that length of trial but I have obligations that would make that very problematic. they told us the standard trial is 2-3 days. Oh well, at least I did my duty and I am off the hook for a while now.

Surfing with sharks… part 1

Where’d that shark go?

There he is…

Hello!
P1000085.jpg

P1000077.jpg

Eventually, we were surrounded by about half a dozen sharks.

Poor Elle. I turn myself around to take a picture of her and she's climbing out. She was brave enough to go in, but she only lasted about 5 or 10 minutes. She told me that she was okay, until one of the sharks swam underneath the cage… then she’d had enough. I sure am proud of her for overcoming her fears and trying it at all.

Kay was the second last out of the cage. That kid amazes me.

Before we move on from the shark adventure, this shark adventure inspired my first song of this TR. When I first saw the pictures and read the chapter, first song that came to my mind was "Maneater" by Hall & Oates. So here is my spin on this song.

Maneater (T_Man Style)

They went on a little ride
To see the mean and hungry type
Doing something new, they’ve never done before
Hoping and praying
That they’ll be ok after taking a two-hour shark tour

So many have paid to see
What they were thinking is scaring me
Kay is wild, Elle is tame might not get in the water
Hope it don’t matter
That once you’re in the cage, you ain’t gonna get too far

(Chorus)
(Uh-oh, here they come) Watch out Ponzi they’ll chew you up
(Uh-oh, here they come) They are maneaters
(Uh-oh, here they come) Watch out Ponzi they’ll chew you up
(Uh-oh, here they come) They are maneaters

I wouldn’t if I were you
I’ve seen what they can do
They’re deadly man, they could really rip your leg apart
Mind over matter
The beauty is there but their feast isn’t too far apart.

(Chorus)

------ saxophone ------

Ooh,
(Uh-oh, here they come) (Here they come) Watch out Ponzi they’ll chew you up
(Whoa-oh, here they come) (Watch out) They’re maneaters
(Uh-oh, here they come) (They’re maneaters) Ooh, they’ll chew you up
(Uh-oh, here they come) Here they come, they are maneaters
(Uh-oh, here they come) (Watch out) If you come out they’ll bite, ooh
(Uh-oh, here they come) Here they come, they’re maneaters
(Uh-oh, here they come) (They’re maneaters) That Kay is wild, woo
(Uh-oh, here they come.) Here they come. Watch out Kay, watch out Elle
(Uh-oh, here they come.) Oh, watch out, watch out, watch out, watch out
(Uh-oh, here they come.) Yeah, yeah, they’re maneaters

Maneater (T_Man Style)

Enjoyed that one, T_Man, right up my alley! ;) I don't mind admitting, the Patty Duke Show was a bit before my time, and it never really caught my eye on Nick-at-Nite. (not that Patty Duke caught my eye anywhere else...) :upsidedow

Awesome song T-Man!! Please record yourself singing it and post it, I'd love to see that :thumbsup2

Now that's the funniest joke I've ever heard.

You must have a glutton for punishment. Trust me. You don't REALLY want to hear me sing.

Now Lady H on the other hand is a great singer.

Yes I want you to sing and Lady H, too, but I really want to hear you do the saxophone part.
