Watched videos of DHS Fantasmic! compared to DL Fantasmic!

I must say I like the DHS one better.

I much prefer DL's.. the Columbia and Mark Twain (not to mention the new dragon) are fantastic in it.
But I don't like Fantasmic! in general..
[the TDS one looks pretty amazing]

Other than the new dragon, the DL one seems outdated slightly...DHS has more villians, and I prefer the Pocahontas scene to the Peter Pan one. The Pinocchio puppets in the DL version also kinda creep me out.

I think the Pocahontas scene is super boring in person. But I think all of Fantasmic! is pretty boring.

At WDW there's too much water screen action, I definitely got restless during some of the waterscreen portions.

The Mark Twain is fabulous compared to the Steamboat Willie boat too..

Ah, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Parts of WDW *are* better than DL, though. Watching a ridethrough of DL's Pooh ride, WDW's is MUCH better.

Oh for sure, no denying that.
Splash, the HM, Winnie the Pooh, TTA and variety - WDW is definitely there.

Except DL has the Haunted Mansion Holiday. And I love Nightmare Before Christmas. Bummer.

What about Pooh's Hunny Hunt in Tokyo Disneyland? I've heard it's the best ride ever... I really want to ride it!

YES.

According to the TDL blog on allears.net, "if you go on any ONE ride at TDL, it MUST be Pooh's Hunny Hunt, even if you HATE Winnie the Pooh."

Yes, yes it should.

Time for some random news that's appeared over the past couple of days.

A look at Toy Story Playland. I do like the giant walkie talkie :teeth:

Another look into the World of Color. They're going to use paper animation in the show, which looks pretty cool.

The TRON monorails are going around Epcot now.

The OLC announced that they're going to have a new ride in 2011, along with Toy Story Mania, called Jasmine's Flying Carpets. Just like the one in MK, except with better theming.

@ the paper animation..
in the Blue Sky Cellar for a long time (dunno if anymore) they had the actual paper figures they were using of the cards and the face of the cheshire cat.
It was pretty cool.

I may not like the concept of the Toy Story land.. but they sure are putting a good amount of effort into it, the Slinky Dog ride looks really neat.

Possibly. It uses the KUKA arms, such as here. Imagine that, but on a track. The screens will be on a sort-of carousel which move and rotate with the vehicle, and there are actual sets for the animatronics. I know there's gonna be a dragon, an acromantula (giant spider) and the basilisk as AAs, but i'm not sure on others. There might be dementors, but I think they'll just be on the screen.

Yeah, i've been following the WWOHP for weeks on a different forum.

Wow... never would have thought about the arms on a track.
Okay this ride sounds like a really great feat of theme park attractions..

Wow! An Imagineering thread! I love WDI and I want to be an Imagineer or at least work with them someday :)

That HP ride looks kinda cool. I've never been to Universal before and I dunno if it's enough of a draw for me to go since I don't really like HP that much but anyways lol... I'd heard a year or so ago that the KUKA arms were like exclusively licensed to Universal's parks a while ago, after Disney had bought a couple for the Finding Nemo attractions at DL and Epcot. Did anybody else hear about this? I could totally be wrong and it might have just been that they were allowing Universal some sort of deal for using them in a big way in the HP ride but yeah. What do you guys think of the KUKA arms in the iterations you've seen them in?
