Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

I'm not shure...but im definetly getting into the internship....PM so we can talk WDI!
Are you talking about a professional internship? Those are really hard to get into, and it really helps if you do a CP. If you're going to be an imagineer, I think it would actually help if you had done one of the 'lower level' WDW jobs, anyways.
I'm not a fan of the way the Tiki Room in WDW is right now, but in DL I just mean touching up some of the audio animatronics to make the birds a little more expressive, being able to ruffle/flap their wings, move their foot, etc.
Really? Why? I preferred it when it wasn't 'under new management', but I still think it's the cutest thing ever.

Tomorrowland is my favourite part of Magic Kingdom, so if I was thinking about being an imagineer, I'd be thinking about that part of the park. I love your 'constellation cafe' idea.

I'm not nearly dedicated to actually come up with an idea, but I think the door scene in Monsters Inc would provide a really great 'thrill' type ride! Perhaps at DHS, I think it would fit in most there.

So have you guys heard about the complete refurbishment of Fantasyland in WDW? Have you guys seen the sketches, what do you think about it?

Oh yeah! It looks amazing. New rides, new restaurant and characters areas. I'm excited for it. :)

What do you mean by that? :confused3

I'm too lazy to go look for it, haha. It's on the rumours board.

They're going to totally re-theme it. Like lots of trees and such. Make it more 'enchanted-y' looking. They'll have sections, like a Dumbo section, an Aurora section, a Cinderella section, etc. I'm all for it, but what are they going to do with all the rides that don't fit in that? Like philharmagic or IASW?

As both are popular attractions, I'd imagine that the most that would happen is that they would be moved.

Because you'd be able to see it from a CM's point of view. How a ride could be more efficient and hear from other CM's about what they think. And you'd have a ton of guest interaction, so you could hear first hand what the guests are thinking for the park.

By 'lower level' (poor choice of words, sorry) I mean things like working attractions, merchandise, custodial, food and beverage, etc.

um i think that you believe that Imagineers are cast members...am I correct or am I completely lost?

EDIT: nope..I'm completely lost

Sorry all just got on so trying to respond to things now...

Fantasyland refurb.. yep I've seen the blueprints, I have them saved on my laptop.. Disney was so pissed when those got released, it was supposed to be a big announcement at D23.

Walt Disney's Imagineering Legends and The Genesis of the Disney Theme Park- Jeff Kurtti
Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real- The Imagineers
Designing Disney- John Hench
The Art of Disneyland- Jeff Kurtti and Bruce Gordon
The Art of Walt Disney World- Jeff Kurtti and Bruce Gordon
The Haunted Mansion: From the Attraction to the Movies- Jason Surrel

a damn it...now im not going to be surprised :( I love philharmagic..its my favorite!

I'm holding off on being a CM until after college. You can't enter the ImagiNations Imagineering Competition if you are/have been a CM.

No. I said you should do the CP. Which is the Disney College Program. Basically you take a semester off school to go live and work at Disney, doing things like attractions, merchandise, etc. If you got that kind of experience, it would help you (greatly) to get a professional internship, and I think the information you gain from it would help you later on in imagineering.

So did they make the announcement at D23, or has D23 not happened, or...sorry. I don't know much about D23, obviously.

See, none of those jobs wold work for me. haha

I'd be nervous I'm doing something wrong working the attractions.

Merchandise, I have no patience for rude people who will eventually be in there.

Custodial, I hate cleaning.

F&B See above.

Obviously, I have some very complex issues, XD

The D23 expo is in about two-three weeks I think, so they should be showcasing it at their Imagineer pavillion

That's what I'm doing. I'd like to do it second semester of my freshmen year. (You can't do it the first semester)

I'd be nervous tht id break the ride..thts why im gonna work -after college- hospitality :) oh and babypiglet- I get it now...sorry i had a dumb moment

Oh, there's lots of other choices. Besides, running an attraction isn't that hard, so you wouldn't break it! They provide you with very good, sturdy training, anyways.

Oh, that's so awesome! I can't wait! I'm really excited to see what they'll do. Even though I'll be kind of sad to lose the current Fantasyland, we need to remember to embrace change. :goodvibes

The only major things I know about the refurb is 1. Toontown Fair is going bye-bye 2. They're making two spinny Dumbo's instead of one.

All of the princesses lands are there too. I'd love to see the MK get the gorgeous facades of the other IASW, but NOT the characters! I hated Disney film characters in IASW.

Oh, and do you guys realize that it's really hard right now to get a regular part-time/full-time job at WDW? They're really relying on the CP for most of their employment right now.
