Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

:D have you met any WDIs?

Yep.

Although I'd love to meet Marc Davis, Tony Baxter, and Marty Sklar, I did the "Dining With an Imagineer" program at Hollywood Studios in WDW and met the head of the art/signs dept at the Studios.

His name *checks signed plate* was Dave Hoffman :goodvibes

Thanks! Although from the Carousel of Progress, I kinda based it off the Imagineering Construction Walls at DCA...:

Me too! :D I met...um i forget...the plate is at my house and im at my dads office right now xD but ive also met another one..but I'm not alowed to say anything :) psst! ill tell you in PM!

Yay!
The Dining thing was so much fun and okay I promise I won't tell anyone else =D

it sucks tht they stoped it :( but my CM friend tells me tht since its a seasonal thing tht they might bring it back!

That's awesome. YEah it was a pretty much one-time affair for me, but I love having the plate and name tag for it.

The ID holder I use at school is an imagineering lanyard, lol.

I also have a Haunted Mansion pen and mousepad set from WDI.

lol..at school i keep my disney hushed up cuz they arent too accepting :( only some off the faculty know tht I want to be an Imagineer.....do you also have a hard time explaining to people wat WDI is and why you want to be one? some peeople just dont get it

Eh I don't expect people to get it. I say "I want to be an Imagineer, they design the rides for WDW" and people kind of get the idea.

I did meet a girl who said she wants to be a concept artist for them, so I brought her my "The Art of Disneyland" book by Jeff Kurtti and Bruce Gordon, she loved it!

I don't really care what people think of Disney or Walt Disney my ideals are my ideals and they can't change them.

damn i wish i was like tht :( so do you have anymore ideas your working on right now? P.S. dont give details cuz we dont want anyone stealing our ideas......
so as I said im currently working on lion king...a restaurant...a blue sky idea bout a new theme park and a ride based on something non disney movie which i dont want to say wat its about cuz you know...

Beauty and the Beast attraction... Tomorrowland Restaurant... complete Tomorrowland re-theme at DL, some ideas to "plus" a few Fantasyland attractions, Frontierland ride(s, Adventureland restaurant, Tiki Room "plussing" and a few other things.

I rarely comlete things, I'm very guilty of that, but I like having the ideas, anyways.

My favorite thing I've done outside of Designing attractions is making a Pepper's Ghost diorama with a sheet of plastic I had, a desk lamp, and things around my room.

1 please get rid of those rocks in tomorrowland.
2 i disapprove of anyone touching the tiki room xD
3 I just get ideas and I write them down and slowly go through the list and begin expanding on each idea....tht helps eliminate some of them
4 I cant really do anything with beauty and the beast because ive only seen it once :(
5 I have no idea what Pepper's Ghost diorama is xD

side note to #2....but then of course its just blue sky

Oh yeah, trust me Tomorrowland isn't going to look anything like it does now at DL.

Pepper's Ghost is how they do the ballroom in The Haunted Mansion and the family of ghosts in the Twillight Zone Tower of Terror.

I'm not a fan of the way the Tiki Room in WDW is right now, but in DL I just mean touching up some of the audio animatronics to make the birds a little more expressive, being able to ruffle/flap their wings, move their foot, etc.

oh me neither...I walk right past it.....and tht sounds awesome!

I really need to start reaserching again like i use too a year or two ago..

YEah I'm a little obsessive in my researching, but I can't help it xD I want to know everything I possibly can.

So, I really want to be an imagineer. I know how difficult it is to become one, and I'm not afraid to face the obstacles and delays in becoming one.

I decided to start this thread with a list of all of my books pertaining to Imagineering, the Imagineers, and building the Disney parks:
The Imagineering Field Guide to Disneyland
The Imagineering Field Guide to EPCOT
The Imagineering Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom
The Imagineering Field Guide to Disney's Animal Kingdom
The Disney Mountains: Imagineering at It's Peak
The Imagineering Workout
The Imagineering Way
Walt Disney's Imagineering Legends and The Genesis of the Disney Theme Park
Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real
Designing Disney
The Art of Disneyland
The Art of Walt Disney World
The Haunted Mansion: From the Attraction to the Movies
if its not too much trouble...may i have a list of the authors for the books in bold?
