Except as Genie+ said, there are no Preferred View rooms on the DVC side of Boardwalk. It's Boardwalk View, Garden/Pool View, and Resort View.Exactly - Boardwalk view is separate from Preferred View. Preferred are rooms that look onto garden areas or pools. Resort/Standard rooms look mostly towards the front entrance and some back at the tennis courts. Boardwalk view are just the ones on the Boardwalk itself.
Well, that is weird. One would think the points chart would align with what you can actually book.....The current points charts refer to P/G view as Preferred view.
The cash booking site still calls them P/G view.
IOW, still causing confusion!
I agree. To make it more confusing, I'm pretty sure that in the past, the cash booking site used the term Preferred instead of P/G - I have memories of posts here asking questions about booking with cash and using that terminology!Well, that is weird. It is super confusing!
The Boardwalk Inn only offers Resort View or Water View now for the regular hotel rooms.

I’m under the impression the only guaranteed way to book a Boardwalk View is by booking a DVC villa on points or cash? ETA- On the booking page of WDW website it looks like the only listed guaranteed BW View is Club Level?
Funny thing is I coincidentally ended up booking one night April 18th in BW view 1BR villa with a cash bounceback offer. It was $681 plus ~$90 tax, total worked out to under $18pp.I have never seen them offer BW view villas for cash.

LOL, after BWV Preferred view was split into BW view and P/G view, the corresponding BWV rooms facing the Village Green were classified as BW view. Then after (apparently) a significant number of complaints that the view wasn't really a Boardwalk view, they recategorized them as P/G view, and made them highly sought after! On the Inn side of BW the category is called Water View, which includes BW view but you can also end up in the village green facing Swolphin (as many as 6 rooms in from the boardwalk, because they are only guaranteeing a peek at Crescent Lake). All the DVC BW view villas are directly on the Boardwalk and able to look out toward Epcot.

1BR is probably the best shot to find cash availability.
I like it better than the Inn side booking category which doesn’t outright guarantee BW view like the villas do. The craziest part is the rack rates only charge $14 more that night for BW view 1BR over standard, which is not much more than a 1% difference in cost. DVC points that night is a 20% jump from standard to BW view, but sometimes the point jump is over 50% more.

Yeah relative to everything else it’s pretty sweet! That’s awesome! I am usually looking for studios for people so didn’t pay attention to the 1 bedrooms!!
I’ll have to keep a better eye out for those!!!
