Just 3 Days? A Quick Trip to WDW

Hello everyone. So I am Lee, a happy DisDad who is also a high school math teacher. Now that Summer has rolled around, I've got the chance to write and so here comes a Pre-trip report for our short, 3 day, visit to WDW this July.

We includes my lovely, charming wife Deb (hereinafter referred to as DW), my 15 year old son Jonathan (DS) currently finishing up his freshman year in high school and my 11 year old daughter Caroline (DD) wrapping up her fifth grade year. DW is an assistant principal who will be changing jobs over the Summer, so a vacation will be good for her, especially since all she has to do is come along and enjoy herself.

In the middle of July we will be heading down to Longboat Key in Florida for a week with my in-laws. They were gracious enough to plan the vacation so we were happy to join in and will love a week in the sun and sea. But, since we were going to be in the neighborhood we decided to make the vacation even better and squeeze in a few days at the happiest place on Earth.

I'll be back with another chapter in a couple of days to talk about our choice for a place to stay (though my signature takes away the surprise) as well as our ADRs.

Chapter 2 - Where do we go now?

Our most recent visits with the kids had included an extended family gathering at POR, then a stay at POP, a special stay at the Contemporary, then a stay at POFQ. We like the price and the size of the moderates and really enjoyed POFQ on our last visit, so that's the location we were leaning towards as we began planning the trip. With other stuff going on, if we'd stayed at POFQ then we'd have checked out on Friday, July 27 and only had two days at WDW, but we had decided we were okay with that.

Then I remembered that I had received a PIN in the mail. I started to check on that and found out that we could get free QSDP with the PIN, but then I found out it had expired . Fortunately about a week later, another PIN game in the mail, also offering free QSDP or a reduced DDP. Now the game became more interesting. We could add a day and the QSDP and stay at POFQ or try another moderate, or we could add a day and the DDP and stay at POP. Ultimately, the opportunity to enjoy sit down meals, including some with characters prompted us to choose a second stay at POP.

Hopefully while in town, we'll wander across the bridge to check out the new digs at AoA.

Looks like a good plan. I personally enjoy POP a lot. A hotel room is a hotel room for the most part, but for a value resort, it has a great food court.
