Jungle Cruise. -- love it or hate it?

we love it IF you have a good skipper. if you don't like corny jokes, forget it.. that IS the whole schtick. what is a good skipper? they speak loud enough and clear enough.. not too fast. and don't have an accent. sorry if you have to sit there trying to figure out what they just said, they're already into the next joke. we had a girl once who was a transfer from the new up and coming hong kong disney. she spoke quietly, quickly, and we didn't understand a word she said.

our last "cruise" was a guy who spoke loudly, but was too close to the "mike" so everything he said was muffled.

and this whole review tells you that , yes, the skipper's jokes are the entire point of the cruise. you get a good skipper, it's great fun!

We don't care for it. We will go on it if it isn't too long of a wait and I want to sit down for a while. The jokes are annoying to me. But...I don't hate it.

Love it!!! The bad jokes, the terrible acting... love all of it!! Really can't get enough. My dh hated it but I make him go on.

Ha!! I posted almost the exact same thread a month ago. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the worst rides in Disney World. The "jokes" are awful and it creates an uncomfortable boat ride where people almost feel forced to laugh so that the "skipper" doesn't get offended.

I wouldn't say I LOVE it, but I like it. It's once-per-trip for me. And as many others have said, definitely better at night. In fact, I love all of Adventureland at night!

I loved it when I was a kid, but now it's a skip for me. It's cute, but not worth my time. If the line is walk-on at night during EMH I'll take a ride, but otherwise, nope!

We enjoy doing the Jungle Cruise at least once on every trip. It is must do, but we don't have to get on it multiple times like HM or POTC :)

LOVE IT! The nonstop jokes are a feature, not a bug.

That said, the individual skipper can make or break the ride. I've had really great ones, and ones who seemed like they were just phoning it in.

Also seconding the people who like it at night. It's an entirely different ride under the boat's artificial light, and you can see more inside the cave.

I kind of think it is funny. My wife and kids hate it.

The first time we went on we didn't know what to expect. I think if you go in with an open mind and expect it to be a bit corny it could be fun.

Boats? Really? Really? Count me in.
Exactly!

Love it! Classic Disney! Love the corny puns... I hate when no one laughs.
If I'm on the boat, some one will laugh.
I first rode at DL in about '62. They still shot the crocodile. Loved it then, love it now. In '06 we had a young woman skipper who saw my Donald Duck t-shirt and started calling me Donald, which is my first name. I answered immediately, so she did a lot of the show through me. When we saw the snake and she asked i anyone know what kind it was with the hint it starts with a P. After everyone yelled python she said Donald? and I yelled plastic. She even let me say the back side of water.
If you think it would be without jokes, you're not Disney enough. There is a script, and going off script is looked down on by management. But most of us love the new stuff.

Out of curiosity, do those of you that hate Jungle Cruise also hate Hoop Dee Doo Review? There are always lots of people on these boards that are concerned about doing HDDR due to the corny nature of the show and the cost. I was just wondering if someone disliked one, if by chance they would dislike both.

Personally, I find Jungle Cruise to be okay and occasionally I do love it. This is usually due to the CM and the make up of those on the boat. If I go to WDW with my sister, then I usually ride JC multiple times and her reactions make it fun. As for HDDR, I found it entertaining, but my first job was working in a dinner theater. I could see going again, but not more than 1 or 2 times in a 5 year period.

Our family thinks its a funny "corny" ride, so we like it.
Cannot post this without at least a few of the corny jokes:rotfl2:

OK...before we go much further, everyone raise your right hand and repeat after me. "I hope....we do return". Good! Better turn and take one last look at the dock--you may never see it again!

Feel that mist on your faces...Don't worry that's only the monkeys in the trees.

See those crocodiles over there. We have trained them to stay perfectly still so you can take better pictures.

I'd like to point out some of the plant life here on the Jungle Cruise. There's a hibiscus, a low-biscus, and that little one barking is a doggie biscus. Say, there's the Anheiser Bush, it looks ready to bud.

To the left is the beautiful Schweitzer Falls, and if you look over here to your right....and then back to your left, you can have a second look at Schweitzer Falls.

Uh oh, we're now entering into headhunter territory. Not a good place to be headed.

Please make sure you have all your children with you. We take children left behind over to It's a Small World, superglue their feet to the floor and force them to sing that song over and over and over and...

look at how those lions are babysittin that little zebra.........I think he got the point ..........waht kind of snake is that? it starts with a P; that's right, plastic

I always like it and at night with a good skipper I love it. DS was a little balky about doing it during our last trip but we got a really funny guy and he enjoyed it.

I like the Jungle Cruise, but last year, I went to see HDDR, and thought it was way too long and kind of boring. I even love live theatre and musicals, and puns, but I definitely won't be doing HDDR again. So many people recommended it to me, and said it was so great. I hate when people hype stuff to me, because I usually end up not enjoying it.

People that don't like this ride are just pun-adverse and boring, imo. The jokes are more punny than corny, that's the point!

I know it's completely campy but my son absolutely loves the Jungle Cruise. He laughs every single time and retells the jokes. It's great if the CM is into it!
