Jungle Cruise. -- love it or hate it?

We might have been on boat :) We got piled up to and I felt kind of bad for the cm because she had to come up with corny jokes, etc to keep us "entertained". I think the ride and jokes would be better if the people on the boat reacted just as corny as the skipper. It just kind of falls flat when the people just sit there. I probably won't ride it again unless I'm with someone who has never ridden it before. So, I don't really hate it but I don't really like it either.

While not on our must-do rides list, we do like the corny humor. We missed it on a few trips due to refurbs, and when teenage DD went on it with me last year, she says she finally "gets it" now. If you don't like puns, it probably isn't for you ;)

So we had never managed to make it on the jungle cruise before this last trip. On our way out of the MK, the line was short so we hopped into it. I was excited as I only remember hearing good things about it. OMG! I don't know what was worse...our skipper, the audio system and the skipper's piercing voice, or the jokes that never stopped. I guess I did not expect non-stop jokes and I mean non-stop. Several boats were bunched up at the end, and the skipper just went on and on and on. My 67 year old mother said she had serious thoughts of jumping out of the boat and swimming for it....lol. So, my question is this. Do you love or hate this ride? We personally will likely never go on this again.
Omg were we on the same boat?? After all of our trips and visits to MK, we never did jungle cruise till this past trip, and it was just as you described. The funniest part was we ALL kept joking that we were going to jump and swim for it ( I posted this on another thread months ago). Never again, but its real popular, so I feel we are in the minority here.

Sure, love it, like it or hate it? Okay, so do you honestly love the jokes? Do they normally take a peaceful boat ride and turn it into an ear piercing nonstop gab fest? Sorry, I'm probably being dramatic but we literally got off and looked at each other and said. What was that?

Sorry this ride wasn't your cup of tea. Maybe the ear piercing part was an audio problem. But the non stop schtick is definitely a major part of the ride. Always has been. Without it, the ride would be too boring for words. Apparently you missed this part of the ride description:

Along the way, take in lively narration from your friendly skipper, known for a brave heart and a clever joke… or two.

Expecting JC to be a quiet, peaceful boat ride is like expecting HDDR to have elevator music playing during dinner.

We like the ride during the day for the nostalgia, but love it at night.

I didnt get it before but now I do. Its fun and the jokes are meant to be cringe worthy

We have always loved it especially my husband who would go to DW every day if we lived there. The stupid jokes always Mske me laugh. And the rowdier and loud the driver the more fun it is. If it weren't for the fun drivers it would be very boring since it hasn't chznged much since it opened. It's pretty primitive compared to the newer rides.

I don't have any nostalgia for it, so I think it's just okay. I'd skip it most of the time. I took a first-timer on it, my 20-year-old cousin who was interested primarily in thrill rides, and she was not prepared for the barrage of corny jokes. :) She started laughing and looked at me incredulously to whisper "What?" as the skipper laid down one pun after another. Her reaction to the goofball humor of it made the ride worth it that time for me!

it's a must do for us. wdw's version is superior to dl's so we absolutely have to do it.

Whether the ride is fun depends largely on the CM as well as the other passengers. As yet, I haven't run into that magical combination of a CM with impeccable timing and a receptive crowd. One day it will happen and I'll get the next Jim Gaffigan, but until then I'll keep searching.

It heavily depends on who is your skipper, while they are really similar some are just night and day better. We do enjoy the Jingle Cruise a little more when it changes for the winter (if it changes). It's one of those we don't mind if we miss it rides.

LOVE IT! Always have, always will. Can't miss the backside of water, the large butterflies ranging from 12 inches to one foot, the great humanitarian Albert Falls... I could go on and on but then I'd be in De Nile. Really love the announcements in the queue, which go right past most of the people waiting.

Love it!! The corny jokes are what it's all about, I love when my kids groan at the jokes, heck even my teens can't help but crack a smile.

So I watched the American Experience on PBS about Walt last week and they talked about how cheesy he was and the first thing I thought of was JC. I love it. It's up there with HM & POTC on my list of favorites.

Are the puns made for adults or would a 6 year old find them funny? Or would they go over their heads?

They aren't "adult" in the double entendre sense, but if you are old enough that the animals don't impress you then you are probably old enough to get the jokes.
