Jungle Josh's Trip Report
Part 4:
Jungle Adventures: To the Poly!
The Players:
Jungle Josh (22/m) - Former WDW Cast Member, Disney Fanatic.
Cousin A (22/m) - My best friend, a little nervous, quiet type.
Little Cousin B (10/f) - First trip away from her parents, never spent more than 2 days at WDW.
Our Aunt (55/f) - Buisnesswoman, loves to spend time at WDW relaxing as opposed to running the parks 24/7, has a walking handicap.
Little Cousin C (6/m) - will arrive with his parents later in the trip...Cousin B's brother.
Cousin D (34/m) - B and C's Dad, will join us later in the trip
Cousin D's DW (32/f) - Will join us later in the trip.

Once again, I slept like a baby at POFQ....yet this time I am not jolted from my sleep with a sick traveling partner. I wake up around 7:30...wide awake and well rested. I sit up in my bed, notice cousin (22) is still sleeping, he still looks ill...poor guy. I take the time to admire the room, its very nice. The privacy curtain at the bathroom is pulled and a small light glows behind it, casting a soothing yellow tone throughout our room. Someone must have been in the bathroom and left the light on...but its nice...its little things like this that just fill you with joy at WDW.
I take a few minutes to relect on how much I love this resort. Its so peaceful and quaint. The rooms are nice...and having two connecting rooms is really a great thing for a group like ours..The atmosphere and themeing of the resort is so beautiful. I checked out the pool last night...I'm disappointed that I didnt have the chance to check it out...perhaps next year. Of the moderate and value resorts i have stayed at, I think this one is by far my favorite.
Enough reflecting..time to get everything together and off to our new home...the Poly LVC!!!! I leap from my bed and to the showers..by the time I am done, the others begin to awake from their slumber. While everyone is getting ready I begin packing everyones stuff...again..how can four people use some much luggage?
Finally everyone is ready to go..a quick check of the room..do we have everything..??? yeah sure we do...lets go...I call bell services and really feel sorry for the guy..thats a TON of luggae....we somehow cram in all into the car...I tip him extra..hes a nice guy from Fort Wayne, IN...I lived there when I was like 2years old...we talked a bit about the area...not that i remember living there, but have visited and love it there.
I drive us over to the Polynesian and I'm greeted by a kind little security guard who welcomes us to the resort. Pulling up to the valet, a nice gentleman with the biggest smile ever, greeted us with a luggage cart.
"I'm checking in at the Concierge...names "Jungle Josh"."
"One moment...." off to a little phone "ah yes Mr. Jungle Josh, your room is ready..room 3505..is very nice! One of our best rooms..very nice."
He loads all of our luggae onto his litle golf cart, has us all pile in.
"Do you have time for a tour?"
A tour? hmm...sure..sounds good to us!
He drives us around showing us all of the Poly...such a beautiful place...the Game room, both pools, the neverland club ("in case little princess wants to ditch the old people!" his words!
) The Grand Cerimonial house...the marina...and finally the Hawaii building! looks nice...
"Come with me I will take you to your room, you can check in later"
We take the elevator to the third floor.
"you have a Beautiful room Mr. Jungle Josh...excellent view"
At this point I'm thinking..yeah sure..i bet you tell everyone that. Then he opened the door. WOW!!!!!!!!! The shades are open and the view is the most amazing thing I have ever seen! The Castle is dead center from the room, the GF to the left, CR and Space Mountain to the right. The Palm Trees..the beautiful blue water...wow...and whats this..on the bed....Gifts!
I had a Gift basket from the poly's general manager and a chocolate bar with a painting of the Polynesian Resort on it. There are 4 cards too..each one addressed to a member of the group...Cousin(10/f) has Winie the Pooh, My aunt gets Mickey and Minnie in Liberty square costumes, Cousin (22) gets goofy, and I have a card from Mickey and Minnie as well. Also Welcome notes from the manager of the resort, the concierge manager and the housekeeping manager welcoming me to the Poly Concierge.
(There is back story here...I had some problems on my last trip to the contemporary..horrible room, worse service...not a magical time. Well I spent sometime this past year getting to know some management and talking Disney magic...I also sent the Concierge staff a chocolate tower from Hersheys before we arrived, thanking them for all of their wonderful help.)
We get everythign piled into the room, get accompanied with the room (and the view)...its unanimous..the Poly is already a hit. Down to check in...we are taken care of by a wonderful CM named Aida....very welcoming and she knew exactly who we were. Check in is quick and painless...Cousin(22) take little cousin (10) up to the lounge...aunt and I join them after checking in. I am now officially impressed with the Poly Concierge. A smorgasbord of cookies and candies...fruits, sodas, lemonade, juices...and Peanut Butter sandwiches..we've hit the motherload!!!!!
The cousins load up on snack and off to the room. We unpack some and decide its time to explore the resort. We wander past the volcano pool...none of us can wait to hit that tonight (we love swimming at night). We decide to have lunch at the Kona Cafe. Really nice place, we usually make this a stop each year anywho..now its right at our back door!
After lunch it's off to the Disney MGM Studios. The place isn't that busy...we head to the ToT...grab a fastpass....off to RnR. 30 minute wait....while in line the crowd is tossing around a beachball as if at a concert....nice themeing there..dont know if it was WDW or not...but everytime it went over that big wall a new ball showed up..so i am assuming it is a WDW thing. Little cousin thought this was SO cool! We get to the load station a Cousin (22) still feels ill so he opts out...Cousin (10) and I sit in the front car....screaming the whole time...Great coaster..to short though.
Now the ToT. We walk right in, Fastpass in hand. again cousin (22) sits out. after some cold beverages its off to explore...I find out that little cousins parents have only taken her on the wild rides here...shes never seen muppets or Grat Movie Ride...anything but the 2 Etickets. Sounds like a challenge to me.
We hit it all...she falls in love with Millionaire. Is in awe of the Gangster at GMR...she also enjoys the One Mans Dream exhibit...she didn't know much about Walt, so it was neat introducing her to him.
Fast Forward a few hours..its time for dinner at the Primetime 50's Dafe! Little cousin loves this place...shes decided to go out of her way to get us older boys in trouble...and she succeeds...I was blowing strawpaper at her from accross the table..pciking a fight...I got called out by our waiter and sent to stand with my nose against the wall...all in good fun..little cousin got a kick out it...I heard about it all night..."joshie got in trouble, Joshie got in trouble!" as long as shes having fun.
After some more time at MGM, we head back to the Poly and watch Wishes from the balcony...absolutly breathtaking. I sip a Miller Lite from the Concierge lounge. After the show, we hit the gameroom. Nice place...Little Cousin still prefers Contemporary's gameroom (she loves the ticket games). Cousin (22) and I spend some $20 trying to get this blasted teddybear out of a crane machine for little cousin (10). Shes so going to get spoiled this week. I when a few collecters coins on the whistle stop game...after you win 2 times, you try to figure out the pattern...thats when you start losing...Oh and I introduced little cousin to my childhood sweetheart..Ms. Packman....shes impressed at my packman playing skills..
I explain to her that this was the playstation of my childhood. I suddenly feel old! 
Now it's off for a midnight swim at the pool...we keep quiet and enjoy ourselves...by 1am we're exhausted and head back to the room..which is FREEZING cold...not a good mix with wet swim suits...everyone dries off and crawl into their nice warm beds.
Tomorrow is a whole new day at WDW....Epcot maybe? we'll decide tomorrow....everyone loves the Poly...they are all falling asleep, I turn off the lights and stand at the window admiring that AMAZING view...Im in complete awe of the Poly by ths point. could it be any more perfect? Tune in tomorrow to find out..same Jungle Time, Same Jungle Channel :tounge:
