June vs October

I’ve been to Disney World a little over 15 times, but this will be my families first trip to Disneyland. Does anyone have any pros and cons on the second week of June versus the second week of October? I’ll be booking this for 2022. Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

We went last week of September and we've been multiple times in June. I would say weather in late September was actually hotter than early June for us, and October can be very warm or not as warm. Either way, neither time is hot like WDW gets hot, because there just isn't the same humidity. The only issue is fire season, which can strike either time.

The park is absolutely amazing all decorated for October, and you can get in on the neat Halloween parties. My family enjoyed both times of year, but found that mornings in late September were less crowded than mornings in June (regardless of day of week, but ESPECIALLY true for Wed/Thurs).

If your family is into Nightmare Before Christmas at all, do October! It was my husband's favorite part :)

Normally I’d say June, but after the heat wave of this past week, I’d say October.

I would definitely check out if/when Grad nights go to in June and if/when Halloween parties are in Oct. there isn’t any info for either, but know it will result in parks closing early.

Who knows anymore but generally speaking I’d give a slight “edge” to October likely to be hotter.

I think it’s hard to know right now how crowds are going to change, no new info on APs (or whatever the new program will be) and how the reservation system affects things. I would mention that, pre closure anyway, the “fall break” weeks early to mid October have become VERY VERY busy. Halloween is an extremely popular time to visit DLR (justifiably!) and combine that with the increasing number of school districts with a fall break it can be crazy. Second week of June is early enough that full summer crowds haven’t hit yet.
That said, I’d probably still pick October... because Halloweentime at DLR is awesome.

I will add to the others above, don’t expect October to be less crowded. Dd and I have done the 2nd weekend in October often. It tends to fall during people’s fall breaks or long Columbus Day weekends. Oregon tends to have a statewide in service day that Friday, and that is why we go down that weekend. Halloween parties are typically in full swing and so much fun. But crowds can be bad, not closing due to capacity bad, but lots of people and long waits for rides bad. It’s still our favorite time to go! We have had 90 degree heat, 70 degree and mild, multi-hour soaking lightning storms during Halloween parties, it runs the gamut!

Will be really interesting to see what October is like in 2021. Having been in April, May and June since reopening it's hard to compare to anything over the past couple of years, other than the weather patterns. Echoing posters who have already commented about how well DLR presents Halloween. I'd say I'd pick October over June if that was my choice, as I'm a huge fan of the way Disneyland decorates Main Street USA. 🎃
