June vs. August: any real difference?

Just wanted some opinions on camping in TT in August vs. June? It gets harder and harder to find the right time with my kid's schedule. I looked on weather.com and it looks like temp/rain is about the same. I currently have June booked, but my daughter's summer swim team goes till the end of July. Has anyone camped both and if so what do you think?
Thanks for the help.
Michelle

We usually go in the first two weeks of June and its hot to me but I lived in Florida, Tampa area and thought July and Aug. was hotter. I think you can still have a good time just take it slower..

We are from Canada and it gets hot in the summer like it does in Florida, but down in Florida you can breathe. We live across the river from Detroit, so with the heat, we get pollution and smog alerts every single hot day in the summer. We are annual passholders, so we go down for five weeks, one year, in August and then the next year, the end of June and July. It used to be that the parks were less busy the last two weeks of August. But with the Canadian dollar doing so good against the U.S. dollar it doesn't seem to make a difference anymore. But with the economy the way it is now, I'm not sure. I would say though that going in August, if you like the heat would be better. I found that in July the afternoon storms seem more prevalent. Hope this helps.

June = Scorching Hot
August = Sweltering Hot

or maybe its the other way around!!!

Either way...be sure to bring sunblock, MIST-FANS, and shades
:scared::cool2: :beach: :sunny: :smooth:

As a Florida resident (born and bred), I will say June is MUCH more pleasant than August. Yes, it's hot in both months - but the humidity is MUCH worse in August.

17 days 'til we're back at the Fort! :goodvibes

Happy Camping!

But its a Disney heat...so its not soo bad!!

Ditto on the heat AND native Floridian :thumbsup2 .

June is hot
August is brutal

During June, we often have afternoon showers which might cool it down or just make it real sticky afterwards.
During August, the afternoon showers tend to be few and far between and it's just HOT and HUMID. AND, you have a much better chance of having the dreaded Tropical Storm or freakin Hurricane floating around.

I would pick June over August for sure.

Here is another Floridian telling you to keep your June reservations. August is too hot.

Just wanted to add that the first week of June is Gay Days at WDW... just so you are aware.

Not that there's anything WRONG with that!!! ( that just NEVER gets old for me!!)

Not to change OP's question toooooo much, but what about early September (as in Labor Day weekend)? Still just as brutal? Or maybe, there is some cool snap that happens on September 1 every year....

Sept is when the cooler days start to become believable. Now, keep in mind its still hot compared to what you northerers are used to...but Sept for us southern folk can be down right pleasant at times.

:thumbsup2 I agree, August is much more unpleasant. Plus, I wouldn't pick September or August (if you have other options) they are the number 1 and 2 months (respectively) for hurricanes in our area.

As a floridian I can tell you it gets hot around May and cools off latter part of Oct. Now any of those days can be hot and sticky or warm and nice. It can even be hot in Dec. here. So just make sure you a/c works well and bring plenty of short and cool clothing.

Thanks for all of the replies. We really want to keep our June 18-July 1 reservations but they just added 2 snow days to the school calander. My DD12 is "graduating" from elementary school and I don't want her to feel she is missing anything if I take her out of school early. The learning is done but they will probably have fun activities for the kids that week.
What to do....What to do.... I need to decide soon if I want any diner reservations.
We were supposed to go this past December, but we cancelled due to the economy- so I definitely need my Disney fix soon...:sad1:
Thanks again,
Michelle

Yes, Sept. tends to be cooler, 90 rather than 95 :rolleyes1 and the heart of hurricane season. It tends to be a tad cooler at night though.

OMG
If it's hotter in August- you better go in June!
We've gone in June and it was hot. And listen- we're from Texas... born and bred, I know hot... I just usually prefer to battle the hot with either a/c or water (meaning lake/waterpark/or pool) -it was hot. Like all of us about to die -that hot.
If august is hotter than that- do not go in August. Is all I'm saying! LOL (I think we just couldn't handle the humidity and I'm here to say that mist fans didn't help- that's adding more humidity or something. I dunno LOL)

We have taken our kids out for Disney vacations a few days before the end of school- and a few days at the beginning. IMO those are the best times for them to miss since they won't be missing anything critical. However, MY kids sure won't feel like they are missing out on anything fun at school if it means we're going home to the mouse! Are you kidding me? LOL
