Considering a trip in June 2024 (I know....it's over a year away.)

We went at the very end of June 2022 and had a good time.

I'm just wondering if EARLY June is about the same as late June? Are crowds about the same? Weather similar?

We would basically go the first week of June so it would be after Memorial day crowds have left. I'm just not sure if early June is more/less crowded at when we went last summer or about the same?

We typically go at the beginning of June and we found the crowds were fine until the evenings. There are two factors as to why it could be more crowded when you go in early June vs. late June. The first is passholders aren't normally blocked out until the first weekend of June, starting on Friday. We didn't really notice a huge difference in our last trip in the days with passholders vs. the days without. We went Wednesday to Saturday and flew out of San Diego on Sunday (started our trip there on the previous Saturday). If you wait until the blackout period, you may have better luck, though then you may deal with more schools being out which could keep the guest numbers fairly even. We lucked out in being there before a good portion of the school districts in the LA area where out for summer break. We had no issues getting everything done on our last trip. The rope drop hours were marvelous. This was before early entry for hotel guests had returned. We normally stay across Harbor Blvd but may change to DLH the next time for that additional benefit.

The 2nd reason is Grad Nights. They are more plentiful during the earlier parts of June and wrap up around mid-June. These can affect your crowd levels at both parks as some only go to DL on Grad Nights and DCA is more crowded and closes earlier on Grad Nights. We just planned around the one day without a Grad Night on our trip.

Not sure on the weather as I doubt there's a huge difference other than maybe less June Gloom in the mornings. It didn't bother us as it kept the mornings nice and cool. We typically go back to the hotel for a swim and outfit change regardless of weather around 2-3pm. We then return to the parks around 4-5pm for our evening portions.

Thanks for your input. We picked late June last year to avoid grad nights but I wasn't really sure how bad those made the parks. We were there last week when they had the sweetheart events but not sure how that compares.

I didn't realize school districts out there were still in school at all in June. Out here, my son is out a week or so before Memorial day.

Grad nights make the teen areas of the park busier as the days goes on. Since they get DCAat night, they often start in DL- focusing on the mountains. Like any group of teens…they can be fine or obnoxious. You’ll likely only notice the obnoxious ones! We went during Grad Night season and it was mostly fine. The main issue we had was the screaming on Goofys until like 1-2AM and the midnight World of Color but that was just where our room was.

I hadn't considered that. And now that we will (hopefully) be staying in a VGC room...this does concern me. Could you hear it even with your door closed up? Which room were you in?

Yes we could hear it with the door closed. I can’t remember the exact room number- but paradise pier facing on a higher floor which are x500-x510 even numbers. Even without grad night- we can hear WOC with the door closed. Im not sure if you can hear it on say floors 1-2 when your view is the walkway/fence.

Im a light sleeper, so now I request a quiet view. For studio we keep getting x509 which is a side corner pool view. It’s very quiet! I feel Like everyone requests the p pier view so we have always gotten our quiet request! Just don’t say “no pixar pier view.” We did that once and got just that. I think they just saw “p pier” and gave us that.

I thought the pool side might be noisy, is that not the case?

We were on the 2nd floor and did hear WOC at night. But I only heard people screaming if we had our door open. Are there late shows/loud music with grad nights?

Maybe we should just go in late June to avoid the super late night noise. I am also a light sleeper.

On the last page of that thread is Nonsuchs great map with room numbers too. Apparently we’ve had 2509 twice…. Here’s from last April. But we’ve have 4509 and 3509 too. You can see more pool area higher up, but its still quiet!

I'd recommend as late in June as possible. The grad nights are really annoying.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning that way now. Kind of bummed about it but it is what it is, I guess. We went in late June 2022 and it was fine. Crowded and hot but we managed.
