June or July?

We originally were planning to visit DL for the first time in June due to having some discount travel vouchers for the flight, but even with the travel vouchers it is cheaper to fly another airline so now we can be more flexible (still has to be summer). So when is better to visit mid-late June or mid-late July?

Depends on what you mean by better.

June - on average a little cooler temperatures. A little grayer mornings. Grad nights. Likely a little lower crowds. This year in 2014 there appear to be way more refurbs than normal..

July - warmer, a little more crowded, and less refurbs.

For me I would choose July this year over June in a heartbeat.

Depends on your group. We had the same question and we chose June. For exactly the reasons mentioned above. I have three littles, so anything I can do to bring the crowds down (because, for us, like you, it had to be summer this year), even slightly, is helpful. And my kids have become very used to our cooler weather in Colorado and don't handle heat well. At all. Also, for us, we rent a condo and the prices go up in July, so that helped with the decision, too.

However, if it was just adults going, or if my kids were a little older (where I didn't have to hold on to them so closely in crowds), I'd probably choose July.

Done both and enjoyed both. Keep in mind that L.A. schools get out on June 6th this year (guess when I'm getting on a plane to WDW?) so even by mid-June the kiddos will be on the loose. Don't know about O.C. schools, though.

Our last June trip, it was so gray on our first morning that it was too cold to hit the pool until 1:00 pm! Beautiful weather for touring the parks, though. It did get hot later on, but by sundown we were putting on light jackets. It was busy but not impossible.

Our last July trip, it was stupid hot, but we made sure to keep hydrated and slathered ourselves in sunscreen. The words "July" and "Disneyland" gave me nightmares about huge crowds, but I was pleasantly surprised. The parks were not empty, of course, and there were lines, but nowhere near as bad as I expected.

We always choose July. Once we went at the end of June and it was actually more crowded because the Socal Aps were on their last days before being blocked.
Last summer, the day after the fourth of July was the least crowded I've ever seen it in the summer. I don't think July crowds are that bad especially if you get there at opening. Evening around show time by the river can get pretty bad though, so avoid it or arrive early for F!
