:rotfl2: Totally by accident, it looks like I've got a bit of a pattern going there...two no buys and then a spend.

I am STILL waiting on MIL to get back to us about the Father's Day plans...it's a long drive to their house (it takes over 5 hours) and I can't plan ANYTHING (meals, shopping, plans with MY dad) until we hear back from her as to whether this weekend is a good one to come down or not, so that is stressing me out! I'm not dealing with that by shopping though...so :cool1:

Hi! I know I'm late joining, but I have got to get my spending under control.

12 - Spend. Got 3 tops, two work-worthy necklaces and a wooden cheese bin from Goodwill $16.43ish.
13 - Spend. Bought lunch $13.55 (will also feed me tomorrow). Need groceries this afternoon. ETA: Bought groceries, $5 in flashlights, $6 in waterproofing and a $17 ultralight tent for backpacking. $159 at the Blue Logo store.

Welcome! Glad to have you no matter when you join!

Welcome! Glad to have you no matter when you join!
Thank you :)!

Today will also not be a no buy day. I have to buy blackberries (didn't quite pick enough Saturday) so I will have enough to make a gallon of blackberry wine (this will become pretty cost effective hostess and Christmas presents). <sigh>. There is always something, isn't there?

Would like to join in. Need to reign in my spending. Doing Disney and DCL in January and need to cut an extra $700 off my spending before them to enjoy some character meals. Today is not going to go well, two kids home sick, back from the doctors used up most of my prep time today. :(

Welcome!

I don't know if this will help you for tonight or not, but what I like to do for those nights when I just can't/don't want to cook is have some back up meals (or meal components) in the freezer or pantry. I also make up biweekly meal plans, which keep us on track...but you know, sometimes life happens and you have to improvise. This kind of stuff can be pulled together in a snap and I generally have some subset of these things in the house at any given time.

For example:

Freezer
frozen pizzas
frozen lasagna (or other pasta dishes)
precooked and packaged meats that can easily be heated in the microwave for wraps
hot dogs
burgers
chicken nuggets/fingers/burgers and fries

Pantry/Fridge
canned soup
grilled cheese fixings
sub sandwich fixings
pasta and sauce
eggs and bacon/ham/sausage etc for an easy fry up, frittata, omelets, etc
pancake mix/waffle mix (or the ingredients to make them from scratch)
naan, cheese and pizza sauce for homemade naan pizzas (the kids LOVE these and in a pinch, I've even made them on flour tortillas which had a good reception)

When all else fails...there's always boxed macaroni and cheese. (Or Orange Death, as I like to call it!) :rotfl2:

Another day off and I am spending it at home. I finally got caught up on dishes and reorganized the pantry
