Hi Guys !!!:goodvibes
Well I just finished getting my "Disney closet" back in shape...LOL...and finished until next trip ... I think that all this washing a drying was just alittle too much for the old faithfuls to handle..."Cause they finally broke down" !
We bought a new set (with a nice sale on Labor Day)...and they are supposed to be delivered tomorrow...:cheer2: but...since last week...I`ve been hanging all the wash...ICK !:laundy:

MKY :cutie: -Hope your feeling better with your footpixiedust: ...and Happily Planning your next trip ...coming up soon !

TP2- Your paobably very busy with the girls starting school this week here in the east coast...Hope DD is feeling better toopixiedust:

EE22- Yep- Soo glad the car is out of the way now  ...I think we did good !!:drive: :cheer2:

Candizfan- Hi  and welcome :welcome: Yes ..some of us that post here ARE DVC Members ...and speaking for myself....I adore "Owning a little peice of the Magic":goodvibes

I am also a member at SSR and at AKV (new add on). I loved SSR and would go back in a minute, but I am going to OKW in March 08 and then AKV in July 08...I am planning two trips next year.

I love DVC as well and the decision to purchase had a lot to do with finding this board.

Well Tomar, I just had a new washer delivered two weeks ago...the old one gave me lots of warning that it was on it's way out. So it was limping along the day before the new one arrived.

I loved using the machines at SSR to keep up on the laundry while we were away. I hate to bring a lot of luggage, so I also do wash. The machines were right by the pool and very convenient to use while we hung out at the pool and SSR's pool is totally cool. The last time, my husband did the laundry while he was by the pool. I only had one load to do when we got home.

:cool1: The new washer and dryer were delivered today !! YIPEE:cool1:
The old ones lasted 11 years...so I really can`t say they didn`t do a great job ...HeeHee....I pray these do the same !

candizfan- congrats on your add-on to AKV.:thumbsup2 ..I`m praying we can do one someday too :cloud9:
Yes- it is convienant to stay by the pool when washing clothes...if your in a Studio...as DH and I usually are ;) ...
Im hoping to be able to try a 1 bedroom soon though...so the washer and dryer will be right in the villa with us..LOL ...
Even though .....Who wants to be washing on vacation right?!!!! :crazy2:
I always end up overpacking...thinking I might be able to get away with it...but ....no such luck...we always stay more than a week...and so....:laundy: "A-washing I will go" !!!! ROTFL

WOW, something about new appliances.:wizard: Kinda like the "new car smell". Don't you just love. I dream about those new w/d with front load / large barrels. They are so pretty.

Sis, is all excited about SSR. She is planning on doing laundry every nite, and have everything clean when we move to the poly. This last trip, CR was done to 1 small laundry room in the south tower and crowded. We threw it in the trunk > went to PORS and found one not crowded and went in. We hate laundry on vacation. I am so excited about the spa tub. Plan to spend all nite in there.:thumbsup2 ICK, we sound like 2 old ladies.:rolleyes1

Tomar, thanks for the location advice. Wonder how crowded it will be on thanksgiving? We have been the week after before and not crowded but not on the holiday. We plan to do mgm & have dinner at primetime 50's. At least I will be totally out of the boot & that should help alot. 73 days and counting. :hourglass

Hope everyone had a great weekend. :cheer2: It is just beauitful here. (chicagoland) 80's sunny.

Glad you guys are having nice weather .....it`s been great here in the east coast too :goodvibes
Your Welcome MKY- call and tell CRO about the DTD view....You`ll be happy you did !!:cloud9: Your plans sound great !:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone.

Tomar: Congrats on the new appliances. I always love getting new appliances. They always seem to work so much better when you first get them.

MKY: Your plans sound wonderful. I think you are better off not staying at CSR for a couple of days. We really did not like it there. Way to spread out and will all of your foot and knee problems you would have been miserable. My dad hated needing the ECV to get food. He would be stuck at the table and we would have to get him everything. At least at SSR, you can keep things in your room and just heat them up. We were dependant on the food court and it was not close at all.

Can't believe you are going back again so soon after your last trip. DD8 said she NEVER wants to back to Disney again. I am hoping she will forget all the bad stuff she went through and only remember the good things. We won't be going back next summer so she has 2 years to get over it.

Glad you got good news from the doctor. I am sure your next trip will be much better after all the healing you are getting between now and then.

TP2, It actually helped during the trip thinking we where going back again, soon. Just felt "we will do more of this next time....." I can't blame your daughter, she has been through so much. Hope she is recovering. I could not image being in the ECV., constantly. It was really uncomfortable, and hard to get around with it. It helped my foot, but I really didn't like it. I feel for your dad, if he had to use it alot.

Tomar, I called and paid off our trip and fixed my request for SSR. Thanks so much for your help.

mky:cutie:

okay...I'm so out of it...
I haven't gotten any of the notifications on posts...I'm days behind...
I can't handle the STRESS!!!:lmao:

CAR RENTAL: MKY, didn't see the question till today. :confused3 Ours are for next summer so I'm sure you can get a better deal than we did. I just know that about 1 week before it was $400 per week and then it dropped to less than half that so I jumped on it.

Tomar used the AP rate and then I used the NEA rate that was the same as the AP Rate and that beat anything that I could find. She also had a coupon too from the entertainment book ??? Don't you have one of those too?

Nothing dirt cheap, but Tomar said it was a good price. I'm use to Christmas rates:scared1:

I am really overwhelmed with work, helping the kids, laundry, house stuff and then had to take a crash course in Southwest and learned fast thanks to TP2.

BEFORE I FORGET TOO MKY!!! DD and I will be in Chicago on 12/25 and 12/26. I won't pull a DUH like when we were there this summer. Also sometime around the 29th too.

MKY: She is perfect now. She drew a picture for the hospital that she went to when we got home. She thanked them for "fixing her". I feel terrible that we made her take that medicine for so long. She could not tolerate it. I called her doctor from home and the nurse said it was normal for it to make her a little sick. I explained that she was REALLY sick but she said it was from taking it on an empty stomach. I think the dosage was too high. They had her on Augmentin 250 mg, 3 teaspoons, twice a day. She would get sick for 2 hours after taking it.

Glad your new trip is in the works. Looks like it will be so nice.

TP2: DS cannot take Augmentin. It's in his chart. It really upset his widdle tummy when he was younger.

tripplanner2 - when you take her to the doctors next time, and the say they are going to give her something, tell them that drug "does not agree with her". It is not the same as saying you are allergic (in case it is the only option) but they will simply give you something else for her.

All the girls in my house have that trouble with Biaxin. So we just avoid it. Never has been an issue again since I have my "key phrase" ready.

:goodvibes

TP2, Your augmentin dose sounds right for her age. Unless she is very under weight it should of been ok. #1 side effect of Augmentin is diarrhea, cramping, nausea, vomiting. Usually hits about the 3rd day. It is a very nasty drug, but highly effective. (biaxin, is very similiar with side effects for some people). So you got to see a pediatric unit. Now you know how I spend my time. That is sweet of her to draw the picture, we hang them up too.

EE22, if you have any time, we will try to visit for a few minutes. I think you have spent more time in chicago lately than we have. If you need a hotel room check out: (or any visiting info) www.winterdelights.com They list all the chicago visitor stuff, and discount rooms at all there hotels.

mky:cutie:

Thanks MKY. I will need a hotel. I just haven't gotten that far. I have the boys taken care of in Reno so they are set and then DD and I have Wicked tickets for the 26th:cool1: I have wanted to see this for so long and now that she's in high school, I feel it's a better time. I got great seats too which is amazing at this late date, but it's been running awhile. I know the holidays are a busy time, but maybe something will work out where we can meet up. I'm sure nothing will be open on the 25th after we drop the boys at Midway so we'll just go hang at the hotel:happytv: DD would like to hit the outlet mall again too so we might make that our mission on that Sat. We have to work around her basketball schedule too. Life is crazy these days:rolleyes:

MKY: She is 60 lbs. She had every symptom you mentioned expect it started with the second dose. She took the first dose in the hospital at Florida and then her second dose was sent from Turner Drugs. Once she started taking it from the room it made her sick instantly. It was torture to get her to keep it down for the first 15 minutes. They said she had to wait at least that long for it to absorb. Did get to experience the pediatric unit. Luckily there was nothing tragic going on. There were only 6 out of 30 beds being used so we got lots attention.

TP2, I found this for you.
Adults: The usual adult dose is one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 12 hours or one 250-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 8 hours. For more severe infections and infections of the respiratory tract, the dose should be one 875-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 12 hours or one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 8 hours.

Pediatric Patients: Pediatric patients weighing 40 kg or more should be dosed according to the adult recommendations.

If she is 60# that would be approx. 30 kg's. (27.27kg for EE22) So you are at the high end of the curve. Dosing is also based on the severity of the infection. We have on occassion actually gotten kids, hospitalized for the side effect's, not the condition it was treating. IE: dehydration. When your on the high end of the curve, your likely to have more, or extremier side effects. Sounds like her pneumonia, was a fast acting, strong bug. Probably why the aggressive treatment. Unfortunately, most of the good antibiotic's have these same side effect's. So it is a deliemma which to use, or change the antibiotic.

Hope this helps, put your mind to ease.

EE22, not sure if you belong to any of the "hotel" clubs. But, I like the chicago Marriott downtown. (if your looking into downtown)(its on michigan ave.). Sometimes they have deals. Most chicago hotels, would make disney, look like a bargain. If $$ is no problem, there is the 4 seasons, and ritz. :wizard: The omni, is not bad. The sheraton, is nice too, closer to the lake, and across from a very nice embassy suites. Lots of the usual choices. Wow, your christmas is going to be nuts. You are sooooo busy. There is a great "macy's" (was the marshall field's here) on state street. It was a flagship store, and mall within itself. Our personal fav. shopping in the loop. Something to look into. Michigan ave. also has a very nice disney store.;) If you want to go up into a building, choose the Hancock, over Sears tower. It is in a better location. If you go up to the "bar" it is 1 floor lower, you get a drink (or pop for dd) and have the same view, = free!:thumbsup2 They have a way better view of the lake, and nicer parts of the city. Sears = business and building views? =boring.

mky:cutie:

WHOA !!!!Good thing I just came by for a look before I was out the door !! Im not getting any more notifications from this thread either ...again !!:scared1:
I tried t fix it a while ago....it was better...now nothing !!! :sad2:
Anyway ...Hi Guys !!:goodvibes
MKY- Your Welcome !!! I hope you love SSR as much as we do !!!:cloud9:

TP2- I was on Aumentin 1000 mgs :scared1: twice a day for 10 days when I had the Pneumonia last winter....ICK !!!! Im happy that DD is better now !!:cheer2:

EE22- So happy you got your tickets. ..and christmas plans are done for you !!:flower3:

Well...got the new appliances...but Im still waiting for the dryer hook-up:laundy: !!! GRRRRRRRRR:rolleyes:

Well, I booked the Hilton Garden Inn...close to Michigan Ave and almost $100 less than anything else I could find especially with parking. I can always cancel if I want so I just booked it to have it for now. We'll be there one night is all and then I'm sure DD will have to out BRIGHT and early on the Day After Christmas. :santa: Good Grief...that could be ugly. :scared1: I wonder if they have Fast Passes on the Miracle Mile? We are going to the afternoon show of Wicked. I'll have to get more details on that shopping area from you MKY. DD already asked about the Disney Store. What a girl:woohoo:

Both kids are going to Homecoming now. :dancer:

I think I might be able to breath next May 30th, but I'm not sure!

MKY: Thank you so much. That was so wonderful of you to get that information. I think the main reason for her hospitalization was the side effects from the drug. I am glad to see that the dosage wasn't too off.

EE22: Your Christmas break is going to be a busy one. I hope you have off longer than one week.

Tomar: How did you feel from the medicine? We thought she just didn't like the taste and was making herself vomit. She does this all the time at dinner if we make her eat her vegetables and mashed potatoes. She has a light gag relex. My DH was going to take it just to see for himself how bad it was and if it would make him sick. The medicine was $15 a dose and she needed every drop so that was not really a good solution. Of course by the second day we realized it was the medicine making her sick. We felt so bad because we told her that if she didn't take the medicine and keep it down she would have to go to the hospital for an iv. She wound up there anyway. She is totally better though now. Go figure.

EE22, I think the hilton garden is a new hotel? Just opened this year. Should be nice. Chicago hotels, sometimes makes disney resorts look cheap. :confused3 Can get very pricey.
Shopping has several areas: "loop" is downtown. State street. Usually where we shop in chicago. Prices are more reasonable here. "Colorful" street atmosphere. Displayed windows for christmas.:thumbsup2 This is where the thanksgiving parade here is. The state street macy store (was marshall fields) has resturants on 7th floor & the walnut room is wonderful. Very elegant feel. Would be perfect for mom and dd. It is way decorated at christmas. The building itself is very large and is 9-10 floors and all 1 store. You can spend the whole day here. #2 area would be michigan ave. Very high end. The disney store is located here, about 2 blocks south of the Hancock building. You have neiman marcus, etc.. . here too. They decorate this entire street with lights for christmas, very festive. #3 would be a mini mall, near the river, and also on michigan ave. This is ended by nordstrom's. Very high end too. You can walk or cab to any of these areas. There is also a mall next to the hancock building, water tower place. Very nice, with large macy store, but alot of stores have moved out and is pretty empty. across from here is bloomingdales.
Chicago, also is know for its museum's. (if you have time) The field museum, is the home of "sue". The dinosaur that is in front of "dinosaur" at ak! But alot bigger.;) It is a very interesting place & campus inculding the shedd aquarium, and a planatrium. The museum of science and industry is very nice, but in a not so safe area now.
And please do NOT go for a 'ride' on the L, for fun. This could turn out to be extremely dangerous, with not knowing, where the L is going or coming from. I had some friends do this for the experience, and turned out to be a not good idea.
Resturants: every choice you want?
They also have those double decker buses that do city tours everyday, that look like a lot of fun. Or they have horse and carriage rides around michigan ave area. $$$ but you will always remember it. We took sis up there for high school grad, and did that too. (She wanted to).
You will have a great time, doing anything you want. Just be rude, drive unsafe, and you will fit in like a local. If we head up there, I will see if they have any tourist pamphlets etc.. . and can send them to you.
