Tomar: How did you feel from the medicine? We thought she just didn't like the taste and was making herself vomit. She does this all the time at dinner if we make her eat her vegetables and mashed potatoes. She has a light gag relex. My DH was going to take it just to see for himself how bad it was and if it would make him sick. The medicine was $15 a dose and she needed every drop so that was not really a good solution. Of course by the second day we realized it was the medicine making her sick. We felt so bad because we told her that if she didn't take the medicine and keep it down she would have to go to the hospital for an iv. She wound up there anyway. She is totally better though now. Go figure.

TP2- I took a very large doseage of the augmentin 1000 mg. I ate alot of yougart.....the Doc. said that it would neutralize my body from such large amounts of antibiotics....and it did !!
Children I believe are different....sounds like DD needed the old "Spoonful of sugar" to help the medicine go down.....in the most de-lightful way !!....HeeHee:angel: If she gags on ordinary food such as veggies and potatoes....I think you guys wouldn`t have a shot with her holding such strong medicine.....but Im soooo happy that she is better now...and it`s all behind her......Im praying it`s all behind me too...I afraid for another winter like last one....ICK:scared1:

Well TP2, just to add one more thing to the list, at least we had the medicine to cure her and it worked....imagine how bad it would have been if you were not able to treat the illness.

Sometime we loose sight of how lucky we actually to have these drugs available to us because they do have such bad side effects.

My scarriest moment with the kids was the call from the sitter that my one year old would not wake up from her nap. :scared1: She was semi alert and moaning. I rushed to get her and took her to the pediatrician who was actually on lunch. Not being a freaked out mom normally, the office staff knew something was wrong and the dear doc took a look and sent admission papers with us to the hospital.

IV antibiotics were given but they were not sure what was wrong at that point. :sad1:

We ended up with both kids in the hospital at the same time, horribly sick. They gave us a room for the two kids and we slept on cots the entire 5 days they were in the hospital because they needed so much care all the time.

They were in isolation the entire time, my hands were chapped from all the hand washing and my parking fees matched my mortgage that month (parking at the hosptial here would break a small country).

But they both pulled through it and are both around to drive each other crazy.:rotfl:

We moms and dads go through so much don't we! :goodvibes

Thanks for the info MKY. I've been to Chicago twice...once for a math conference and we stayed in some huge hotel...very elegant and old...no clue what the name was though, but right downtown on Michigan Ave. We took the train ??? somewhere...not the L and I am not sure that's such a great idea either. I don't remember why now it was 12 years ago.

Then in 2002 we met my step mother there. We stayed at some hotel around the corner from Tower Place ?? is that right? the pool was on the roof. The kids were in awe. DD wanted to stay there again to swim...I reminded her that Dec 26th would be a tab nippy for roof top swimming:lmao: We saw Sue, Shedd, Navy Pier where a sea gull pooped on me:laughing: We went to the children's museum too...they kids were the perfect ages for that. We were going to go to DC next, but with 9/11 still so new we planned our 2nd trip to WDW for 2003 while in Chicago. We went and never left WDW:rotfl:

Love the shopping tips. I will print them. I forgot the place would be decked out for the holidays.:santa:

A friend on mine when on HM after is opened...maybe before...he's a CM down there. Anyway, he said it's GREAT!!

MKY, you'll be the first to see it.:cool1:

Tomar: I really had no idea how sick you really were. I also did not realize how long it takes to go away fully. I guess you can also get it again much easier a second time. The whole thing stinks. I am so glad you are feeling better.

Candyzfan: I can not even imagine how stressed out you must have been. That is horrible to have both of your kids sick in the hospital. I know what you mean though about taking things for granted. When we got to NY the chest x-ray did not show the pneumonia as being too bad, not like the first one. We did not have the first x-ray taken in Florida yet and they started testing her everything to try to figure out what was going on. Once the original film arrived they were able to conclude that it was definately pnenmonia and she was released from the hospital. It was scary for a day though.

MKY...well, after Disney Panera Saturday and talking with my buddy, I booked another hotel...the Hilton Palmer. It's near the theater and also Macy's so I think that will be better. Know it? It was only $12 more and within walking distance of Wicked.

How far would it be to walk to the DS down Michigan Ave? I know parking will be an issue. A cab?

And...if you know...is that DS like all the others? worth the trip down there:confused3

AWW...thank you TP2-:goodvibes
And Im soooo glad that DD is feeling better too....Im sure she`s gunna bounce back faster than I did:cloud9: ....it actually took me waaaaay into the spring to feel like myself again...!!
Even after you feel better with the cough and such....your left very very weak....
I go for periodical check-ups with my allergest....they check my lungs all the time...(I have Broncial Asthma...so Im easily susceptible to all the icky respirtory ailments anyway:eek: )....
I think I need to be in a warmer climate all year long :beach: LOL LOL
If you let DD do ..and go ..at her own pace...she`s gunna be just fine !!

TP2, my brother had pneumonia when he was younger and he's never had it since so that's a good thing too:goodvibes He's now 45.

Hiya everyone!

EE22, I know the palmer house hilton. Yes, you will be right downtown. I saw it on "great hotels" with samantha brown on the travel channel. She didn't show the rooms much (that i remember). The lobby was very pretty. But it is an OLD building. Keep that in mind. It is a historic landmark & the birth place of the "brownie". That had that on the travel channel.;) The lobby was very plush & ornate. The streets around there are very busy & the L runs near there. We actually went up to chicago sat. (yesterday) & shopped at Macy's on state. So pm me your address again, I got some info and pamphlets for you.:) I would NOT move your car once you park at the hotel. We paid $26.00 for parking 4 hours. In a self park garage. :upsidedow Take a cab to the disney store. They do carry special merchandise that say's "chicago" on it. Otherwise its got the same merchandise. Its a very upscale disneystore. I usually cab 1 way and walk back. Depends on your foot. ;) I was surprised I lasted 4 hours walking around. (ok, 1 hr. lunch) :confused3 We ate at the Walnut room in macy's & the waitress said, they have some great plans for christmas and its some anniversary of the state street christmas tree in the walnut room so they have extra special stuff planned. Shhhhh, I probably should not tell you but the downtown marriott on michigan ave. has a roof top pool with glass walls all around for year round swimming.

Now, I am all excited about the HM! We missed it so much when we where there and it was closed. Well 65 more days!popcorn:: :hourglass

Hope everyone had a great weekend! It has been in the 50's here at nite.:sad2: I guess its actually fall already. We have the heat on all week. :sad2:

mky:cutie:

Thanks MKY. I like being close to Wicked and a better store to shop at. It might be cold when we are there. No biggie on the pool. We won't have much time for that anyway although on the 25th I'm not sure what will be open. I am assuming too that something will be open in the hotel for food that night. We might be watching a lot of:happytv: I didn't look to see if this place has a pool or not.

EE22, I remember on the travel channel show, She ate at some resturant(in the hotel) and got a huge plate of ribs. I told DS to remember that place, to eat in. If you like Italian food, Check out a great place called the Italian village it is a 3 floor resturant, eat floor is a different experience. Very colorful and great food. It is very near macy's and the palmer house.
I got you digits, now I just need a big envelope.

mky:cutie:

MKY, there is a pool and you know what...that's the hotel I stayed in years 12 years ago for the math conference. DD will be in awe. It's amazing! We had two bathrooms too in our room. That would be cool. DD isn't the neatest;)

KEWL!!!:cool1:

I'm sure I'll feel like I did the last time...a couple of hicks from the sticks.

EE22, I was laughing so hard when I read that! The lady in the shoe dept. asked us what hotel we where staying in? We said we live here, in joliet & she said really, I was sure you where from out of town. Guess I would fit in, in the sticks too. Must of been the WDW t shirt? And little makeup.:confused3

mky:cutie:

:lmao:
Both times I stayed down on Michigan Ave I felt very out of place. I'm just a plain Jane sort of gal. I'm sure people really thought we here hicks.

When we were there with my step mom the people who worked in the hotel were so nice to us. I'm sure in a lot of ways, we were very refreshing:goodvibes They were so sweet to the kids.

We were fish out of water that's for sure and DH was for sure! We took the bus a lot and the only reason we knew where to get off was because of the cows. We were there when the cows decorated the corners...I don't know if they are still there or not. Everyone KNEW we were from out of town...the kids would hug them and we have tons of pictures with them.

Hiya everyone!

ee22, i mailed you an evelope today.;) Hope school is going fine.

Tomar, I have read up alot on Saratoga springs, we are really excited.

TP2, hope your DD is still recovering. I can't believe we have been back for so long already, it is almost October.

Planning wise, we paid off our resorts for n/d. That was very convient in august. The lady on the phone didn't want to do it? She was like you can do that at the resort, you don't need to now. :confused3 Told her I know, I just wanted to take care of it.

Can you believe it, today we have the air on again.:scared1: 80's and hot. Weird weather.

mky:cutie:

It has gotten warm in Windsor as well 80+ today, but it cools down at night so no need for air in the house.

It won't be long and it will be too cold, so I am soaking it up.:cool1:

Thanks MKY.:goodvibes

It was 89 here yesterday. 85 today and nearly 90 on Friday for football night. Not good. I'm dying again. I don't need training now for the heat of FL...not till spring!!!

We got a tan one week, last Friday we were in cold gear under armour, gloves and ear muffs and we're back to shorts again this Friday.:sad2:

mky:cutie:
Im so happy that your staying at our home resort MKY.:goodvibes ...Just remember that it is different than the usual Deluxes.....and the DVC add-ons like BCV and BWV...."No Valet"...It`s more like OKW....a true DVC resort ;)
So what we do is...we park the car at the carriage house parking....check-in.. and then ask for help with the luggage and any grocery shopping we have done :goodvibes .....

Tomar, hopefully we will be healthy in Nov. so we can carry our own luggage, they are all on wheels.;)
