June/July/August 2006 Code watch

DofD> I know every morning, I think why am I getting up early? This is a waste of time. BUT, I will be really upset if its the day I don't. ;) My bed every morning looks like an office. All my paper work layed out just in case.

Eeyorelover22> I know, I am not too hopeful for the entire summer at this point. :rolleyes1 Hang in there, that's all we can do now. :grouphug:

I finally got my mickey monitor yesterday, and we do get 10% off the disney adventure vacations, if anyone desires to do that. I hope that is not our concession prize. I have no desire to visit wyoming on a ranch.

I think you are right mky...
If and when they release codes they probably will be very limited since the place is so booked.

ski :hourglass

'mornin' I really wish we could get some news one way or the other. If they did post a discount, most of us would faint of shock and couldn't call immediately anyway ;) Come on WDW, shock us...

"No, not yet, and not sure anything will come at this point" she sounded even disappointed. wanted to know if i needed a ressie made.

Good morning! We had some major thunderstorms here in S. FL last night! I was woken up by a flash of lightning at about 3:30, and have pretty much been up since!!! It's going to be a long day. But at least we got some much needed rain.

I'm going on June 4th-9th. Unfortunately, I can't go a day early to take advantage of the code then. But I'm still keeping watch, though I know the odds are not in my favor. Keeping hope alive!

Wow ~ that's too bad you can't get away one day sooner and take advantage of the Fl Res discounts that are available up to June 3rd. Are you absolutely positive? A few weeks ago I changed our days from the end of June so as to take advantage of the codes that were being offered.

I think the alert came and went.

Who knows at this point.

I guess we need to keep checking but hope is fading.....

ski :guilty:

It's frustrating ....... I just want to SAVE some money somewhere at this point. Yesterday I was so desperate I even called about doing a MYW + Dining pkg @ POR. It will technically save us money (vs. Deluxe AAA room only rates) BUT neither of us really, really want to take a chance on POR for the week of July 4th. The whole reason we booked CR & Poly is b/c it's the week of the 4th & the crowd level is unbelievable!!! We just don't like the bus service for that week ..... any other week of the year it's fine .... it's just the crowd level.

When I called yesterday about the pkg, the CM I spoke to indicated there is VERY LIMITED availability for that week & wasn't very hopeful about any AP discounts either. :confused3 I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed this morning .... we CAN stay where we're booked, I just thought we might be able to save a bit more ........perhaps not. Either way, we'll be at Disney for July 4th!!! :sunny:

Thanks for the update Mky. Our vacation is from July 1-10, so I figure if a code comes out, it will be after July 4. I'm about ready to give up hope. I already have a AAA rate, but was going to buy APs and do another short trip in December. I'm so glad I booked the AAA when I did. Have a good day everyone.

What should be interesting is watching all the other code watch threads for the rest of the year and to see what Disney does. It seems like WDW doesn't have a slow time anymore. From what I'm reading the crowds even in May are bigger than normal.

I think my problem at this point is feeling "guilty" on spending soooo much on the resort. Yes, we can cut corners on food, and spending elsewhere, and we do use the resorts alot. but; the $$$$ is large and you just feel like, should I really do this? So, at least with a bigger discount you feel like you did all you could to get the best price. No, I don't think wdw owes me a discount. But, I do think I have to decide, if I really want to spend that much.

I have a back up plan at this point, but still don't want to change things yet. And really don't care for the DVC option; just not our thing. I guess I really just don't want to think about the cost, price we will be paying even with the AAA rate.

Ok, sorry; now will try to get positive again. ;) ;)

Same time we are going! Now if you are going deluxe hotel you know to book 2 continuous reservations- one from the 1-5 the other 5-10. Because the rate you are charged is the rate your reservation starts on. So by booking that way you will get the value season rate (AAA also) on at least half your trip. Just FYI but I am sure most know that by now.

It's okay to feel that way. It is a lot for a room and I feel the same at times. I think...boy, I could use that money for "such and such". We are looking at two kids driving in 2 years. I'm going to try not to think about it. I need a vacation and anywhere else we would go, I wouldn't enjoy as much :)

As I read over this thread I have to wonder if anyone at Disney reads internet boards like this one. And then I wonder what they think if they DO read them. I understand that business is business, but would it kill Disney if they dropped ALL of their rack rates across the board by 10-20%? I mean if they're filling the rooms at rack rate, wouldn't 95% full at the Polynesian for $225 a night be just as good as $300 per night? I know what you'll all say - why should Disney drop the rates if they CAN fill the rooms at $300+ per night?

I don't know. I'm certainly no businesswoman, but I think customer loyalty should speak volumes and should be taken into consideration - SOMEHOW.

And I for one do NOT think the free dining promotion is a deal at all. That's just me.
