June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Just curious...... for those that hoped for AP rates at deluxes...
How many have opted to stay at Swan/Dolphin???
When Disney was taking sooooooooo lonnnnnnnngggg to give out any rates (back a couple months when we thought AP rates would still be out for June!)
We went ahead and reserved Swan. There was plenty of room there then, not sure about now.....
But I really haven't heard too many people saying they were going to stay at S/D as an option to no AP rates for regular Disney resorts.
For an Epcot resort..... $165/night is pretty good! Even the AllEarsnet.com special rate of $184 beats what else is available.

So we are happy we have at least that!!!
So Disney loses again..... I would have moved over to BC/YC or BW if the AP rates would have come out... but looks like Swan will get my money. :thumbsup2

I agree, being a teacher the rate is great too, the only reason we don't do it is we are hooked on the dining plan and they won't take it. WISH THEY WOULD!!!

Don't give up yet!!!

So despite all the gloom and doom, we could still see codes released for the summer/

Thanks for this positive attitude - what a refreshing post! Still holding out hope then, with the rest of you!

Wow ~ that's too bad you can't get away one day sooner and take advantage of the Fl Res discounts that are available up to June 3rd. Are you absolutely positive? A few weeks ago I changed our days from the end of June so as to take advantage of the codes that were being offered.

Yes, I checked. :guilty: The only thing I didn't look into was changing resorts, and going a day early. I might do some hw on that option.

We have never used the dining plan...
But, with the money saved staying at S/D wouldn't that make up for the dining plan? Just curious how that works. :confused3

With hope fading for AP rates for June/early July, I am getting ready to order my 8 day PH tickets. This of course will cause them to immediately release AP rates.

So, if they announce AP rates after I order my tickets, and I'm able to apply it to my reservation, is there any way to change my PH to a AP before going to a park? Will my local Disney store do this? Will the Disney Store at the airport do this? Or on arrival day will I be taking ME to the hotel, then taking a bus to a park, changing my ticket, and then bus back to the hotel to check in?

I've asked this before but no one has really answered. May be no one here knows? :confused3

O.K. I hate to be the downer here but I thought I would post what I was just told by a very nice cm named Hector. He told me that he had heard that there would be no more discounts of any type untill free dining ended. He also said that there are no values, or moderates at at all. The cheapest room available now is the Animal Kingdom Sav. for $350 a night. He then said more than likely the next set of codes/discounts would be in the late fall time frame. I hate to be negative but we leave in 20 days(yay!!!) and I really have given up any hope now and guess will be stuck at rack rate. At least we are going back!!! Tink

Does anyone have information on this?

Thanks.

Okay, when I talked with disney they said they had rooms at riverside and fQ for the middle of July. But they said they didn't think rates would come out for June for sure. Bummer

Shouldn't have a problem trading in unused MYW tix, know that they tightened up the requirements though, may effect old PH (checkout allears site, there's a long explanation of same).

If you have the tix in hand you can call WDW travel & ask to be connected to tix research dept for definitive answer.

Good luck.

I so wish the CM's knew what they were talking about and not kept in the dark. You were told this and yet I just hung up with grand gatherings since I keep trying to change our resort and asked again about codes and my CM told me to keep checking back. According to her, no one has been told that they're not coming out and she at least expect Fl resident rates to be delivered for the summer months. It would be nice if Disney would just let the CM's know what was going on rather than keeping everything such a secret.

DH has decided that in lieu of getting the added benefit of the room discount, we'll open up our options next year and stay off-site and spend some time at Sea World, Universal, etc. We've come to Disney and stayed for 10 of 12 years, 2+ weeks/year and spend $10,000+/year. I know that the room discounts aren't promised (we're not stupid and are getting kinda tired of people with patronizing attitudes suggesting that we are), but after 12 years of getting codes, there is a level of expectation about the codes. DH is tired of all the waiting games, will they or won't they kinda thing. Guess he feels that if they don't want to reward long-term APers, we can spread our money around and not feel disloyal, either. He's already gotten planning information from some of the others and is talking it up to the kids so they won't be disappointed and won't be anticipating Disney next year. We won't make any changes this year, but even if we go to Disney next year, it won't be with an AP and it won't be for very long. If we are going to spend that much, a little more for tickets won't be a hassle and will give us many more options. Not sure if I'm in favor of changing as much as he is, but being a good wifey, I'll support his decision. Heck, who can complain about a great vacation every year, no matter where we go. KWIM?

I just got off the phone with a very friendly CM. I was adding a day to my room only reservation for July. I have the AAA rate for Pop. No problem -- I was able to add the day.

While I was doing that I mentioned that I was thinking about purchasing an AP and if I would be able to upgrade 1 of my 10 day MYW with water option to an AP and I was told that it would be no problem since it was an upgrade.

While I was asking about that I mentioned if she thought that there would be any AP discounts for the summer. The CM told me that there were no discounts passed 6/3 and that she didn't think that there would be because the resorts are almost filled up through the middle of July.

I guess I am very happy that I got the AAA rate when I did.

Good luck for anyone hoping for an AP discount for the deluxes. Those will probably get codes. I didn't ask the CM that question, it's just my hunch.

Kinda sad to see this thread ending without a code! :guilty:

Oh well, we should all at least be happy for the sheer fact that we are able to plan vacations with our families, and enjoy our time. So many are not able to.

2disneycrazy....when in July are you staying at the POP? We are there from July 23-Aug 3 :cool1: Never stayed there before! Have you?

I just spoke with grand gatherings again to add a room and could add a room at either the Yacht or beach Clubs no problems, just not concierge. I asked again about discounts since it was a different CM and this one told me that they're all still waiting. I asked her if she thought they wouldn't come out and she said that she didn't think so because for a long as she's been working at Disney there has been some kind of announcment to them when they're not offering them and they haven't made that announcement yet. She also said that she has sometimes seen a gap of a week between discounts but that has been rare and that in her 14 years with Disney doesn't remember there never being at least a Fl resident discount.

We're still going up and staying as my daughter will be at UCF for freshman orientation. But I do have to say that Universal is offering amazing specials for FL residents, including $63 for tickets to both parks for 2 days and great discounts at the resorts so it is tempting!

I will be at Pop from 7/11 to 7/27. This is my first trip ever staying on Disney property. Have you ever stayed at Pop?

Last year I stayed on International Drive and only went to Disney - Magic Kingdom for 1 day. I don't drive so I had to use the shuttle from the hotel and I think it cost $19 or $20 per person roundtrip. That was a little too much to spend to go for more than one day so that is why I decided to try and stay on Disney property this year.

I want my nephew who is 6 to have at least 1 real Disney vacation. With the rates going up I don't think I will stay on Disney property again, especially if there are no discounts. Right now I am paying $93.70 a night including tax. That's with the AAA rate for a standard room. Plus I am adding $10.70 a night for the fridge. We really need the frig in order to eat breakfast in the room and take sandwiches with us to the parks in order to cut expenses somewhere.

The only good thing about staying offsite is that for the rate that I am paying for Pop I would be able to get one of the better offsite hotels and it would include the refrigerator and microwave. Last year I stayed at Rodeway Inn on International Drive for approximately $67.00 a night including tax and that included a refrigerator and microwave. The rooms were clean, but the pool was extremely small.

I know this site is about codes, but I heard somewhere that Disney doesn't charge if the refrigerator is for medication. My nephew gets a lot of ear infections and is constantly on antibiotics. There is a chance that his doctor might give his mother an antibiotic to take with us since he will be in the pool alot and getting water in his ears might cause another infection. Do you think that they will charge for the refrigerator I have to refrigerator an antibiotic?

If you stayed at Pop before I'd like to hear your opinion of it. Thanks for any info.

They will give you a free frig for meds, but it may be a medication fridge. These are small (think toaster size) and are designed only for meds...

If you bring an antibiotic for a child "just in case" you won't add the water till you need it! It won't need to be refrigerated until it is mixed. I stayed at POP in October and we had a great time!. :goodvibes
