June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Thanks for calling this morning :sunny:
It's cold here and rainy. I'd rather have a cooler spring though being in school since I don't have air. It gets way too hot here! August is horrible with the heat. But, 30's is a little extreme!

Well, we are officially out. :sad2: The decision was made to move our trip to August to go during free dining. :cool1: I wish all of you the best of luck with AP codes for the summer. Honestly, every morning I was waking up and looking at my ticker and getting depressed because the days until my trip were dwindeling and I had no planning done. That is not the way it is suppossed to be. :sad2: I should be excited that the trip is getting closer, not stressed about it. Well, for our August trip we will stay at Coronado Springs instead of AKL in a standard view room. I am a little disappointed that we won't get to stay at AKL but as I am exploring the dining plan I get more and more excited. :yay:

I wish you all the best of luck and I look forward to visiting with you all in our planing thread. :grouphug:

MKY: We need to set up a meet during August. We are booked for August 15 - 29 but may move our days in the beginning or end based on flights.

I hope you have a wonderful trip and I'm glad you made a choice and can move on with the planning and the stress will be over for you

ps...I'd be making those dining ressies SOON!

Well, first off, this isn't quite accurate. I have added nights and had to remind the CM to get the AAA rate on the room. ALSO, IF the CM was going ahead and DOING so, then he could have RELAYED that bit of information BACK to Michele.

The system they use allows them to just change the dates by adding or subtracting dates so that is automatic.
Since she had to ask, it shouldn't have prompted any snotty attitude from anyone, and afterall, it is HIS JOB to answer questions and HELP ppl who call!!
I agree, no attitude should have been given.
Another thing as us AP's holders know, rates have been released at other times of the day, specifically in the evening, so calling more than once to check should not be a problem, but more our prerogative.
As for rates being released in the evening, this is false. The people that have booked AP rates in the evening have done so because a CM went against their booking policy and booked a code that wasn't supposed to be active yet. I can guarantee you that rates are NEVER released in the evening and are not supposed to be booked in the evening but rather always the next morning. That is why there are so many posts on this board that some people have called and gotten rates and others have not. It is merely a case of some CM's doing their jobs correctly and others not doing so.
And lastly, it may not be that a CM wouldn't intentionally keep code information from any of us, but several of us have come across CM's that we are assuming are newbies and very obvsiouly still learning the system they are using. When we have to coach them on where to look, that's pretty much a clue that this person may not know exactly what they're talking about and calling back and getting another more experienced CM would be wise. Also our prerogative.
I am so tired of AP holders on this board that feel as though they "deserve" these discounts. When I bought my AP I knew it was primarily for admission, anything else is a bonus and I am no different than the next Guest.
With all of our many vacations to Disney, DVC, passes, meals, souvenirs etc... we pay for this service, and we will use it. :thumbsup2
I started. I made reservations for Hoop and CRT. I noticed on Mousesavers that some of the Grand Gatherings tours are allowed on the dining plan. I want one of those too. I just have to figure out my credits but I think I would rather cancel CRT which is 2 credits and get 2 of the Grand Gathering tours. I won't go on anymore on this thread, I will keep it on the planning thread.

TiggerinBLV,
I did not mean that we 'deserve' the discounts
but rather, we deserve the normal respect any human being should give to another.

Especially in a business setting, that's what I meant.

Ok, I totally agree. It is unfortunate that some CM's aren't as friendly as they should be and maybe eventually only the nice ones will be left. One can dream right? =) :cool1:

I, for one, don't feel like we "deserve" or "are entitled to" any room discounts. That said, as a longtime passholder (who, admittedly has never traveled during the summer) there has never been a time when I booked our WDW vacation that an AP code wasn't available. In fact, I've never even had the experience of not having our preferred resort have availability at the AP rate! So while I certainly don't feel like we are owed any sort of discount, we have come to appreciate and anticipate discount codes.

It appears that things are changing, and that's fine. It was a nice perk, and for those of us who live farther away and can't make multiple trips in the year, it was a perk that made the purchase of an AP more enticing. Not having AP codes won't stop me from going to WDW or staying onsite, but it will influence what time of year/season we travel, how early we book (so that we can get the most affordable room in our preferred resorts), and how long we stay.

While I'm beginning to doubt the release of any codes for this summer, I'm still trying to hold out a glimmer of hope for a late (post 6/3) release of some discounts for the 7/5-8/12 time period. Ever the optimist...

tp2 they may come out with AP rates that are better than the dining plan in August :)

THAT would be really nice, Ziggy. :cloud9: The dining plan, for us, just doesn't make good money sense compared to our AAA discount and DDE card because of the way we eat. We may split a dessert and/or an appetizer and our DS13 would rather eat a burger than a steak. We just can't eat enough foods to make it work for us. We're much better off with AAA and DDE card, though I would LOVE an AP rate to be released for our trip...

We are exactly the same, we don't like the restrictions of having to book way ahead and to have to eat on site and DH and DDs are fussy eater. We are saving $75 on AAA for OKW but some days the dining plan may be better for us if we go to O'Hanas or CP. If an AP rate did come out for more than $75 I would be very happy, but I'm not expecting it, just hoping :)

I know but we are a grand gathering and we had so many things to consider. I do have an AP which will expire in mid July and I won't renew it. The original plan was to get an AP discount and eat off the DDE card but without the discounts on our room the trip is really too expensive. We are getting so close to our travel dates and we had no ADR's planned and my sister is in school and needs to plan her summer course schedule. We are flexible but there are limits and we needed to make a decision. Would I rather go in July with an AP discount for the room, OF COURSE. But with only 7 weeks left before we were supposed to leave I felt like the stress and lack of fun in planning was not worth it.

I do hope everyone else gets exactly what they have been waiting for.

Well, I know how many days till the next code is up as it's the day before our last day of school!! :) It is very, very close right now for all the June people. 3 weeks. 14 school days :cool1:

I'm sort of interested what's going to happen tomorrow. I don't think it's AP Rates, but I'm hoping.

Did anyone look at the post about the calls from Disney again? Someone wondered if it was a scam to obtain personal information.

Maybe they were waiting for this thread to "die".... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:
And it appears it has.... :rotfl2:
Seems most posters have given up hope for June.
But there are those of us that simply CANNOT change dates.
We have been going in June for many years. Sometimes adding an Oct trip too.
And I have to tell you..............
This is the FIRST TRIP in 10 YEARS that we did not have a discount better than AAA. I am pretty shocked by it.
I don't believe the economy has gotten that much better. I just think Disney is trying to control the crowds. Force people to choose a slower time of year by not releasing discounts for the busier times.
 Oh Well!!
So we just won't be adding that extra 5 day trip in Oct.
Sorry Disney, but you just lost out on the extra cash I would have spent for an additional trip!
AND the fact that I will keep my ressie at Swan, instead of moving to one of the Disney resorts.

We will still have a great time!!! But feel a little disappointed by this.

TP2 > I will definately be pm'ing you. :) :cheer2: Sorry about your trip, But welcome to august! :thumbsup2 Will miss you here. :guilty:

As an ap holder for many years > I buy my ap because going 18days X 2 this year and maybe an earlier trip next year, no other tix would make sense. But I am not going to ignore a discount with my ap either. And yes, I will keep my resort for august. Might change october thou, being in "regular" season it is pretty expensive without a better than AAA discount.

Well going out and shopping, looking forward to tommorrow and its "surprise"! Everyone have a great nite.

Just checking to see if anyone grabbed a Saturday edition of the Sunday paper yet and checked for any new Disney promo's? I am interested to see if there is any hope for us June/July people. Let's hope for some exciting news today!! :)

Sorry!! I did not read back far enough! Well, hopefully something good will happen anyway this week!! I am still thinking positive for all of the June/July people! :)

Here's my take on this sensitive subject:

I am a FL-resident AP'er. My DD and I go, on average, 3-4 times per year. That's probably not going to change. However, what will change is the amount of time we spend there. Normally, we go for 7 days in June and 3 days for MNSSHP and MVMCP. With rack rates, our June trip will be cut down to 5 days. That's 2 days we will not be dining, souvenier hunting, or just general shopping at WDW. I realize my piddling 2 days worth of expenses doesn't amount to a hill of beans to Disney, but all the same it is 2 days less spending.

Our MNSSHP/MVMCP trips will be cut down to 2 days instead of 3. Less time equals less spending.

Like I said, our spending really doesn't amount to dent in Disney's wallet, but Disney's action, or inactions, do change our plans. What will be the effect in the future? I don't know.

My humble $0.05 worth.

Bad news - We just got the Sunday travel section (for some reason this comes in our Saturday paper) and there is nothing new. Same August/September free dining special, same dates etc.

Well if they are calling lots of extra cms in perhaps its for staff training - which some of them need or some other promotion that is not running in the press :confused3
