June/July/August 2006 Code watch

I have been lurking here for ever. It seems that codes are very slow coming out this time. My DW and DD both think that we Disney is in the process fo doing away with codes completely in favor of packages. Packages don't work for us since we don't eat 3/day. Any opinions? :guilty: :rolleyes2

What does eat 3/day mean? The packages are not for 3 meals a day so I guess it not that.

I'm taking this as you don't eat 3 meals a day so you don't want to book a package? You don't have to take the dining plan option if you don't want it. However I'd encourage you to do some research on where you'd probably eat and check the prices on the menus on allearsnet.com. Even if you don't use all your credits IMHO the dining plan is a good deal, food is sooooo very expensive in the parks. The snack credits are great as you can use them for a drink also.

Many people have practiced "random acts of kindness" by paying for strangers with their unused credits.

Good luck. Also price out the components on your package and compare to booking them separately.

yes I will be ready to call again tomorrow at 7am. . . . I have already booked the add-on and now just waiting to apply code. . . . here is :wizard: :wizard: to us all :cheer2:

A post a while back mentioned teacher rates. I would be interested in hearing more about this. DH is a teacher, but we were unaware that we could get a special rate. How does one qualify for this? Thanks for any info you can provide!

It's only for Swan/Dolphin. Rates come out early, so you'll need to book early. Check out allearsnet.com for details.

well, 30 days from today till we leave for the world. i purchased an annual pass a couple of months ago with the sole intention of using it for discounted rooms. i figured the $200 price diff between the ap and the myw 7 day adult would more than make up for itself since we have 3 rooms at pop. 3 rooms/$25 discount per night/7 nights = $525 off of rack rate. however, i did not factor my aaa membership into the equation. 15% off at pop for our dates is about $15/night/per room or $45/night or $315 for my entire stay.

so, here i am with my aaa membership applied and a pretty much worthless ap exchange certficate (considering i have no plans to go back to wdw within a year). so last night i put it up for sale on ebay. figured if i get what i want for it then i can buy a myw 7 day ticket and put the rest towards gas money for the trip. if i don't get my price then i just keep it. no problem. hated to have to do this but i just don't expect any codes to come out. if you look at mousesavers' historic dates, we're way past the time for them to do so.

i have to say thanks to everyone on these boards for checking so often!!!!! i go to wdw every year w/my friend(s). if time permits, i try to go more than once a year. one of my bestfriends and i want to go in aug like we have the past few years. i can only go if we get an ap rate since i just went back to get my master's. i just wish disney would let us know one way or the other. i know i will foolishly go anyway, but i may have to stay offsite. :sad2: let's hope its this week!!!!!!!!

Do you have to use the voucher within a year? Can't you just keep it for sometime in the future? I'm sure the price will go up, so you won't lose on it.

We typically buy one AP for a member of our party each year. We make one trip/year too but try to go the first year in month 1 and the next year in month 11. For instance this year we are headed to WDW in July, next year we plan to go in JUne. That way we get two years use out of the AP. That way it pays for itself even without the AP discount. The AP has a few other benefits also. Look carefully at your options. :wizard:

And we wonder why Disney doesn't find AP rates to be a money maker for them..... Look at the math on this deal. Disney wasn't getting the "repeat" business that so many folks are saying they will "lose" without AP rates. All Disney was expected to do is tell sell the room for LESS then poster was willing to pay.....

(By the way, theoretically you cannot resale the voucher and IF Disney catches you the voucher may be voided... I heard a rumor of someone doing that but I don't recall if it was Disney, Universal and airline or what... Maybe SW????)

CarolA: What are your thoughts on why Disney offered the DDE card to all AP holders? Seems that they are not making money there? Seems strange to me.

Actually I think they may have made money. A couple of thoughts. One is that folks (like me) are more likely to "eat at Disney" if we get a discount :rotfl2: And really, if I think about it I eat most meals at Epcot so for Lunch I am getting a discount with either the AP or DDE and the truth is I paid for DDE... :rotfl2: I think without the discount I might be more tempted to go offsite.

And then there is the same theory on the Dining plan. There will be a certain number where the discounts given do not equal or exceed the DDE cost.

And of course, they could have just done it as a "perk" to encourage AP holders to visit. It's probably cheaper to give you a discount on a meal then to give you $100 off your deluxe room for a week.

CarolA:
I used my figures from earlier about our dining for June when I was working the numbers for our trip. Even with no room discount, I wll save $180 with my DDE card. That includes the extra for pass renewal over the 10 day MYW ticket and the $60 for the card. We don't eat at Epcot that much so the AP discount doesn't help us that much.

I'll be here - before dawn - with bells on! Of course, none of you will no if I really do have bells on because you can't see or hear me....You'll just have to take my word on it!

I do believe in the Code Fairy!

I had to make my 2300th post on this thread.
The rates still go only till June 3rd. I just called.
I did find out I can wait until the week of our trip to buy APs or MYW tickets so I have another month to keep hoping that airfare for December comes out!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
See ya tomorrow. Only 3 more Mondays of the year!! YAHOOO!!!

I am looking forward to this week. I am really hopeful that this will be it. :wizard:

Eeyyore: Congratulations on your 2300th post. I feel like I have been contributing a lot and I am only in my 300's. Can't imagine 2300. :yay:

Hopefully I won't reach 2400 before codes come out.

Without asking tonight, the CM said, "I think they will be coming out, it's just a matter of when." All of the CMs have been nice except the one when I called at the MNSSHP tickets. She wasn't a nice person nor was she happy!
