June/July/August 2006 Code watch

This is the only time I will get to WDW this year, and there is 3 rooms we have reserved(cabins at ft wilderness) so a good Ap rate would be worth it, but sensless if there were no AP rate.

I'm with you. I have two room reserved at the Wilderness Lodge for 8 nights with AAA rates. I'm saving about $25/night off rack rate with AAA which isn't peanuts, but I'm hoping for more. If AP rates come out with a discount anywhere near what they've been at in the past, it makes it worthwhile to buy that AP. If there are no AP rates, I'll just get a parkhopper.

Count me in. We are gonig June 1st - June 10th. I hoping for at least a good BRP rate!
WE WILL BE AT THE CABINS JUNE 3-11 HOPE TO HEAR FROM ANYBODY :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just an idea....but have you ever looked into renting points. We only rent to friends/family, but it's often cheaper than the AAA rate for deluxe & moderate resorts.

Just a thought for those whose vacation is getting really close. :rolleyes2

I don't want to get anyones hopes up & it probably means nothing, but the WDW APH site is down........ ;)

NO! He said your mickey monitor will tell you before we know. I explained that I do not have my AP yet, so I dont have it. He did not like hearing that. I guess it is people like me that they had the BRP for.
He tried teling me that My meager AAA rate would be similar to the AP rate anyway. now come on. Im not stupid.Really tried to make the AP sound bad. that there may not be anymore codes till after August/sept. I dont get it I am very nice and polite when I call. They just dont like me.

To much info for the Cm. Why would you tell him you do not have a pass? It would just be more frustrating to me if non-passholders are calling too.

I hate to be the downer here, but I think that if your vacation is getting really close your chances of getting what you want on points renting are slimmer.

This is a great deal (See the Rent/Trade board on here), but you need to plan ahead. I love my DVC (I don't rent points, I didn't buy to run a small business on the side, but some owners do tend to be doing that)

On the subject of renting points - I don't understand why people say they are such a great deal. Right now, I have two rooms at WL Woods View for 8 nights AAA rate for a total of $4400. A 2 BR Villa at WL for the same dates is 425 points. If I can get a reservation, and if I can pay $10/point, this will cost me $4250. That's not a big difference to switch to transaction which also carries all the risk of a private transaction between two individuals. I feel much more comfortable sending $4000+ to Disney than to someone I never met. Also, if the AP rates come through, it will be cheaper than points.

Well you are talking about a 2 bedroom villa that is the huge difference between a 2 bedroom villa and a woodsview room at WL. Personally the woodsview is fine for us (that is what we are booked with). But if we would book DVC we'd look at the studio or the 1 bedroom and it would be a HUGE savings for us.I'm considering it for the beachclub next summer.

The only way to save on renting points IMHO, is to only rent Sunday - Thursday. The point values on the weekend or so high for a two bedroom that you won't save. However, I also think you are comparing apples and oranges. A better comparison would be two studios at VWL.....
A two bedroom has a living room, full kitchen, DVD player, washer/dryer etc... So you should expect to pay more.

A studio for 7 nights in the summer is 116 points. So two studios would be 232 or $2,230 That's a savings.

I don't know if the risk is worth it to you, and I am not a point renter

OK that makes more sense. I just checked and a studio for our dates (8 nights) would be 148 points, so its 296 for two. At $10/point that would be $2960, which works out to an average of $185/night. This makes sense to do if there are no AP discounts. Rack rate for a WL woodsview room is $275.
Our AAA rate is $247.50.

But again, you would have to be able to get a reservation, find someone to rent at $10 (not everyone will, I was quoted $12 by the one DVC owner I corresponded with), and there is still the trust thing.

I think I'll just keep my fingers crossed for AP rates. If there is a $100/night discount it will be right down to where that $10/point rental is.

I have noticed that mousesavers has not been updated since 4/10. Could that be a good sign? This usually occurs before codes are realeased or it just could be coincidence. :confused3

I noticed about Mousesavers also. I went ahead and charged the rest of my room to my Disney Visa so I could get the rewards dollars in on this credit card cycle. They said if an AP rate comes out, then I can leave a credit on my room, which is good for food and such. Now that I have done this, I can almost imagine that rates will come out tommorrow! :rotfl2:

Just for the record, I plan on buying an Ap, if its benificial(which isnt that the reason anyone buys them) Nobody would buy one if there was no benifit for them in it. Its not the CMs job to judge. They are allowed to book a room with an AP rate even if you do not currently have one. It is expected that one will be purchased, and activated before check-in or you loose the AP rate.Seems pretty sensible to me.Either way I am a paying disney customer(already have ressies)

I am also looking for codes for the port orleans reosrt.we are staying june 1- june8.do you have any codes that could help me save some money?

Do the WL rooms have kitchenettes? The studio's do! They also come with many (not all) DVC perks. Worth a lot more then $10 a point IMHO
:goodvibes

Yes you can do that, but you said they do not like you & that calls like yours may have brought on BRP.

I did not know you can tell the CM you do not have a AP & they will still book your room. I would love to hear feedback on anyone who has done this.

We booked our Spring trip to POR without the AP. I told the CM that I had intentions on purchasing one which I did online at a later date. Once we arrived, I showed my voucher and told the front desk that I would activate the following day. I went back to front desk once it was activated and it was no problem. They did tell me if I didn't activate it I would pay rack rates. Good luck! :wizard: :yay:
