June Exercise Challenge - 54 Challengers and 40,537 minutes completed!!!

I've been crazy busy this week and haven't had much chance to either exercise or keep up with my Dis'ing! But I have done a little. 40 minutes in the last two days bringing me up to:

70/1400

I've got to find some time to bump it up, even if it means doing yoga at 2am! :rotfl:

Wow, this thread is zooming! :cool1::cool1::cool1: You all have been so busy that I almost forgot to post my own numbers for the week. I started out rather sluggishly but am building back some momentum:

392/2000

June 3 - 40 mins, power walking pup
June 5 - 20 mins, feeble attempt at weight training, gotta work on that
June 5 - 18 mins, power walking pup
June 6 - 64 mins, power walk; 40 mins power walking pup
June 7 - 40 mins, power walking pup
June 8 - 134 mins, 8-mile walk

708/2000

35 minutes today. I wanted to do more but it's just not going to happen.
I did C25K W6D2 and I am spent. Today was the worst day I have had. I think it was the class last night. I felt fine today, no soreness, but it came out in the run. I was going so slow towards the end, keep checking the timer on the phone and telling my self "just a few more minutes, just a few minutes" Then I started counting and talking out loud! Thank goodness there was no one around but at that point I don't think I could have cared less!

345/1600

I'm really glad very few people on my walking trail have to hear the conversations I have with myself, too - especially those last couple of miles! Congratulations for pushing through even though you weren't feeling it. Congratulations also for listening to your body tell you when to stop.

Wednesday is my crazy day so I did not expect to get any exercise in..... But managed 30 minutes on the treadmill between work and evening rehearsals.

175/1000

Good work on fitting your workout in the midst of a busy schedule. What are you rehearsing for?

Hi everybody! I did 115 minutes of swimming today, which makes me 175/800 of the way through! Yay! :)

That's a lot of swimming! Congrats!

And I love your countdown in your signature, by the way.

Everyone is doing so great! It is wonderful to see all the minutes of activity racking up!

Debbie - Thank you so much for hosting this month's challenge and for all your encouraging posts. You are amazing!!! :sunny: :flower2: :goodvibes

Lois - I hope you can work out the shoe issue. It is so critical, because you don't want to hurt yourself because you are fighting your shoe.

I am having a shoe issue myself right now. I LOVE my new Nike Free 3.0 v.4 but the first day I wore them, I got a blister on the top of my right foot at the base of the big toe (kind of on the "knuckle bone" there) and since then, it continues to rub on any shoe I wear. Like I said, I love the shoe structurally and for how it accomodates my stride/gait/knee alignment, but I am unhappy that it is giving me blisters where the shoe bends at the base of the toe at each stride. Once this heals, I am going to plan on using moleskin to make sure that I can prevent blisters with that simple remedy. I'm not willing to give up the shoe but I can't imagine walking any distance in these.

Oh, well, back to our reguarly scheduled challenge - I did 20 minutes on the bike last night and then my 60 minute deep water aerobics class. My new total is 475/2000.

Tomorrow and Saturday should see huge jumps in my numbers. I'm on the organizing committee for Special Olympics Summer Games and the events over the next couple days involve a LOT of walking, fetching, and carrying. Lots of bending and lifting too. It is so enjoyable!! Tomorrow will be about a 15 hour day and Saturday will be about 9 hours. I'll keep pretty close track of the time spent moving as opposed to standing around supervising volunteers and serving food. If it looks like my exercise goal will be met too soon, I'll up my goal number next week.

Keep on moving, everyone!! :cool1:

Thank you for your kind words! It really has been a blast keeping up with everyone's progress and I am truly inspired by all of you.

Have a wonderful weekend - I know you will be a blessing and encouragement to everyone you encounter this weekend. You'll have to give us a recap after you recover!

67 Minutes on 6/6 for a total of 187/1000.

thanks!

Leslie

Hi, Leslie - great work! I might have miscounted your minutes - I have you at 120 + 60 + 67 for a total of 147. Did I mess up something?

Hey sorry! I know I'm a week late starting this but I would love to join in if that is alright...

You can sign me up for 1000 minutes.

I've already done 100/1000 this week so hopefully I can step it up now that I have set a goal.

:welcome: We'd love to have you! And it looks like you're blasting out of the gate - woo hoo! :cool1:

444/1700

Got the front lawn mowed and DS1 VOLUNTEERED (where's the fainting smilie?!) :upsidedow to mow the back yard. Amazing. Also did a bit of a "why stop there?" after the cabinet was moved. There's a large phone jack at eye level on that wall that some previous owner had installed. I took it out (we've only lived here 13 years! ;)). Then decided why not take out the other 2 (don't ask me why there were 2) doo dads on the adjacent wall. So took them out. Then pulled the wire out from both walls. Then had to fill all the holes with our very old will-it-ever-dry spackle. Didn't actually paint until this morning. After DS2's baseball game tonight I can paint the rest and move things back. DS1 graduates tomorrow so really, really need to get things in order!

Keep moving!

We need to sign you up for the DIY Network - you go! I remember that 'why stop there' feeling, too. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, I did stop so I have naked windows and walls because I ran out of juice. Hopefully, this new surge of exercise will give me a boost of energy.

Congratulations, too, on your son's graduation.

ok didn't it originally say brave the heat together? What is this hat we are now up against? ;)

 Good catch! And would you believe it, I triple check that first post before I save any changes!

Attention challengers: We no longer have to brave 'the hat' along with the heat. That should make everything else we do this month so much easier. :)

Thanks!

Didn't do much yesterday but did great today since my insoles came :woohoo: was able to go for a good run :yay: So now I'm at 255/1000 :cool1:

In January, I invested [and I don't use that word lightly - they were expensive!] in a set of insoles and they really have helped, especially being on my feet all day at work. I hope the same is true for you as well.

Great job everyone!!!

37 minute walk yesterday in between all the rain we are getting
37 minutes today of arms, abs, core, yoga, stretch

new total - 263/900

I made it to 25% yesterday and did not realize it until today!

A dark orange congratulations to you!

Good to see you!

180/960
Off to a slow start, next week I start C25k training.

Thanks
Wendy

Good to see you, too! Have fun with the C2K training.

Sun 35 minute walk
tues 40 minutes of dancing around my living room
wed 20 minutes walk
159/1400
Work and job search are going a bit crazy, hopefully it will calm down a bit this weekend and I can get everything in.:confused3

That does sound like a bit of craziness - I hope you get some rest and some dancing in this weekend.

I just finished day 8 of 30 Day Shred. So 224/1000 for me!

I'm pretty psyched that I actually got up every day this week and got it done. Now I'm going out of town for the weekend. Don't know if I'll be able to fit it in, but I am bringing the DVD, but not the weights - I figure I can use bottle of water while I'm away? I know it's less than the 5 lb weights I'm currently using, but at this point, it's kinda the thought that counts, right?

Getting up every day is a great accomplishment - congratulations!
And even thinking about doing a workout DVD on vacation is super-cool - yay for you! I think Jillian would approve of a water bottle as a weight, especially on vacation.

Cam - Sorry to hear about your blister!

I went back to the store last night and returned the shoes that were hurting my feet. I got New Balance in a 1/2 size larger and they feel amazing. I'm wearing them in the house today just to make sure nothing develops. They've got to be right!

I forgot to post yesterday - I did 40 minutes wt machines and walked for 30 minutes, for a total of 70 minutes. I didn't work out this morning, but I am whisking DH away for a surprise getaway weekend;) and I have lots planned (including a fair amount of walking). Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

425/1200

I have bad feet too - flat and wide. Comfortable shoes, for me, are rare and worth their weight in gold - I hope these work out for you. Glad you took back the other ones. Generally, when a 'pro' tells me something like 'these are the best-selling running shoes ever,' I try to tell myself to get used to them, even if they hurt my feet...like maybe it's MY fault that they're not comfortable. :confused3 Good for you for not doing that.

I'm in......gotta kick my own butt into gear!:rotfl2:

750 for the rest of June!
:scared: Well I'm gonna do my best!

:welcome: It's only June 8th - you have plenty of time! And this group is really motivational.

I've been crazy busy this week and haven't had much chance to either exercise or keep up with my Dis'ing! But I have done a little. 40 minutes in the last two days bringing me up to:

70/1400

I've got to find some time to bump it up, even if it means doing yoga at 2am! :rotfl:

Just don't fall asleep in a pretzel!

40 minutes of heavy gardening and mulching today...my back is aching already and we have relay for life tonight. Wonder how many laps I will do tonight??

Up to 115/1000! :cool1:

I talk to myself on the treadmill all the time!! Sometimes I just need to hear the encouragement even if it's just coming from myself.

6/8 48 minutes intervals. I got a 5K in!

92/1000

I did 105 mins (1hr. 45mins) at the gym today. Running, weight training and elliptical.

New total: 444/1600

Sorry, haven't posted in a few days. All of my walking this week, brings my total to: 505/1200.

Unfortunately, I think I have a heel spur. I'm going to give it a few day's rest and hopefully I can get back to steady walking.

- Laura

6/9: 3 mile jog/walk with DD in the jogger (DH) pushing though! 40 mins. we went to our community lake trail, it was beautiful this morning!

At least 80 minutes of walking at relay for life last night! Exhausted today...

195/1000

49 minutes of running/walking and 45 minutes of taekwondo class

611/1500 for the month.

Ted

Just took the dog for a walk, to add 30 minutes to my total! Later tonight after it coolsndown, I have to do a four-mile run for my training...so that will make my total go up quite a bit- I'm a slow runner!

So far, I have:

160/1200

15 minutes walking at work yesterday
80 minutes walking/jogging at the college this morning

240/1200
